I start Mysterious by Nora Roberts....
You could try it but you'll miss some of the character building if you do so. I like her friend, whatever her name is, the prostitute also. But she gets a little repetitive in the later books. I can't remember which book she's brought into. Personally, if you really want to give it another try, I'd pick up where you left off and plow through a couple of books. If you still can't get interested after books three or four, then I would give it up.I tried Stephanie Plum from the beginning, but didn't care for it (didn't even finish the first book). Should I have started at a later book?
Thank goodness I'm not the only one! A friend of mine couldn't stop talking about her books so I tried one. Just didn't get in to it. I finished it & it was OK, but I didn't think it was as funny or entertaining as it was made out to be.I tried Stephanie Plum from the beginning, but didn't care for it (didn't even finish the first book). I'm the same way!
I just started reading "Little Bee." No real opinion on it either way, at this point.
Next up is "I Know This Much Is True" by Wally Lamb.
I've read a couple of his books. Is this one about the twin brothers? If so, I thought it was well done.![]()
I got a Nook for Christmas and I recieved it on New Years Eve. I love it.
I read The Help, Outliers, and The Lovely Bones so far on it. I am not sure what I will read next but its great. I love all the ideas on this thread.
I loved The Help. I really enjoyed the Outliers too.
Although I couldn't put The Lovely Bones down, I didn't love it. There were parts and characters I really enjoyed watching develop, but I did not like Ruth's part in the book towards the end of it. I felt like the book "jumped the shark" at that point but I would still recommend it. I wanted to finish it before I see the movie which looks very good in the trailers.
I read this book so many years ago that I can't remember who Ruth is. I do remember that while everyone raved about this book, it was not one my favorites.Although I couldn't put The Lovely Bones down, I didn't love it. I'm pretty sure I Know This Much I True is the Wally Lamb book about the twins. Very good book.I'll let you know in a day or so. Just finished "Little Bee", so I can start this one, as soon as I get caught up in my medical coding class.
I LOVED Water for Elephants. What a great book & one I would have never read without the great reviews from the Disboards!Just finished The Lovely Bones and have just started Water for Elephants
I ended up downloading The Book Thief. I am 90 pages in and so far its great. I hope it doesn't fizzle out.

Yes, it's the one about the twins. I read it about 12 (?) years ago. It was amazing!
How was 'Little Bee?'
It does not. It only gets better. It's an absolutely wonderful book. One of the best.

His newest one was not one of my favorites though. I waited so long for it to come out, received it as a gift & then was not so impressed with it. If you're a Wally Lamb you should definitely read it, but it wasn't my favorite of his.
