Bumping up for more suggestions.... thanks for everything so far:)

I finally, finally got Winter Garden! I have been waiting forever. I loved Firefly Lane. This one has started off well too.

In the last couple of days I've finished 2 books. The first was "A Long Way Gone" by Ishmael Beah. This was a true account of a boy soldier in Sierra Leone. Very dramatic, and at times hard to keep reading.

The second was much lighter. "Jane Austen Ruined My Life". I can't remember the author. This was a fun book, but I'm not really sure I'd recommend it. There was something about it that was a bit off. It would really speak to women who are obsessed with Jane Austen (like my SIL).

Now I'm reading "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore. So far, I'm enjoying it. He's a very funny author.

I just finished "One Night In Boston" - very very mindless fluff

It was free on Kindle:rotfl:

I just put down Heat Wave by Richard Castle (really by ABC). It is pretty bad. My suggestion is to steer clear of it.

I started Blood Memory by Greg Iles yesterday while I was babysitting for my sister. It drew me in from the beginning and held my interest for almost 100 pages (so far). I can't wait to pick it up again today when I don't have to read with one eye on the book and one eye on my nephew.

I just finished reading "Firefly Lane" by Kristen Hannah. It was so good. I want to start another one of her books. Not heavy reading but it sure sucked me in!

I'm reading this one right now.

I started out with Winter Garden a few months ago. That was my first exposure to Kristen Hannah. I have since gone to the library and have been tearing through all her books. They are fairly decent--sort of on the lines of Nora Roberts in her earlier writings. So far, I still think Winter Garden is the best. It seems much more complex than her earlier books.

I just finished reading Back Roads by Tawni O'Dell.(Oprah's Book Club). Rave reviews on Amazon, but I didn't really care for it.

I just started Portal by Imogen Rose.

I finished Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan this afternoon. I can't believe how this guy comes up with these things. I am enjoying this series immensely.

The next book on the stack was This Matter of Marriage by Debbie Macomber but when I began to read it, I realized that I already had. So, on to Disclosure by Michael Crichton.

I'm currently reading The Map of True Places by Brunonia Barry (comes out in May). It's really good. I'm enjoying it much more than I thought. I read The Lace Reader last year and enjoyed that but it left me confused. I hope this book has some better closure.

I'm not sure what to start next.

Just finished "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore. It totally didn't end the way I wanted it to, but I did like this book. It was a fun read.

I'm not sure what's up next. It depends on if I can get to the library today. If so, I'll start "Baby Catcher" by Peggy Vincent. If not, I'll either start the last of the "Peter and the Starcatcher" books which I have here, or else "The Pluto Files" which is my book club's read for this month.

Right now the 4th book in the Spellman Files series by Lisa Lutz. I'm a little sad she's ending the series - but yay for her I heard a rumor she sold the movie rights.

I hope to have the new Mercy Thompson book on my Kindle tomorrow

Silver Borne, by Patricia Briggs

THANK YOU so much for posting this. I didn't realize the 4th book was out. I loved her last three. I wish she would do more books in this series, I really think the family is funny.

I am reading Fantasy in Death by J.D. Robb. Not sure why but it is slow going for me. I normally love all of her books. :confused3

Julie Powell spoke in Scranton last night. She wrote Julie and Julia.

She was no where near as reprehensible as I found her to be in the book.

I did ask her if she'd gotten over her angst of cooking lobsters yet and she hasn't.

I also asked her why she didn't skip around in the cookbook so she didn't have to eat one protein for so many days in a row. She said it is because Julia builds on recipe techniques from recipe to recipe so she thought doing them in order was the best way to get through them.

I'm starting the, Oprah biography today. I used to watch her show quite a bit. The show times changed in my area long ago and I didn't switch with it. Curious about all of the hub-bub. :upsidedow

Done with Disclosure by Michael Crichton. I realized halfway through the book that I have read this one also. But I liked it enough to finish it again. An easy read, made just for the beach/pool side.

My mom bought Just Take My Heart by Mary Higgins Clark the other day. She is letting me read it first so that's what I am going to do next.

Is that a true biography or one of those counterfeit ones? I caught the tail end of something on the tv about a book about her that she did not approve.

Still reading Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult. I'm really enjoying it. Very similar in the writing style as My Sister's Keeper. I love reading a book that really allowed you to "know" the characters & become immersed in them.

I read over 100 pages today while at the OKW pool - just like heaven!!!

I'm reading the first book in the Nora Robert's series about the Brides who have the wedding planning business (I forget the name). So far, I'm loving it!

Officially it is an "unauthorized" biography, by Kitty Kelly. It was well researched, I'll give the author that. I read the introduction and she was forthcoming with Oprah about her desire to write the book and requested interviews a number of times with Oprah. Oprah declined. What Kitty Kelly did was find all of the interviews Oprah did spanning 25 years (and over 2500 files) and interviewed many people that know Oprah. No, Oprah didn't approve, but in the beginning Oprah stated she didn't approve or disapprove, saying, "It's a free country.". Her stance changed over time.

I think it will be an interesting read.

I just finished reading Tomorrow Will Be Better by Betty Smith who also wrote A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Not as good as ATGIB, but it held my interest.
Now I am going to start her other book Maggie-Now.
