Reading an old classic "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" I FINALLY got my Kindle back from husband after he finished the Hunger Games Trilogy. I got a whole bunch books from Kindle on the Cheap, the free Kindle forums and so I spent a couple of days trying to rearrange everything.

I read The Hunger Games over the weekend. I'm going to read In The Garden of Beasts next then move on to Catching Fire.

I'm currently reading If Walls Could Talk: An Intimate Portrait of the House.

It is FASCINATING, and is divided into different sections (bedroom, bathroom, etc) with each section discussing topics (i.e. a brief history of the toilet for the bathroom, along with grooming habits, etc.) Just the right amount of detail (not too in-depth for the average reader) and covers hundreds (sometimes thousands) of years of history. Really brings to life how people lived in time periods ranging from the Roman to Victorian to the mid-1950s. It is a British book, so it is very English-focused, but much of the history is relevant to both the US and UK.

That sound very interesting. I like stuff like this. I'll have to check it out.

I just finished Dreams of Joy by Lisa See and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I didn't realize it was a sequel until I was about 1/2 way through it, so you obviously didn't need to read the first book to figure out things.

Hi Girl :) That sounds good! Have to go look it up.

I'm going to try the "Postmistress" by Sarah Blake. It's set in the 1040's on Cape Cod.
Sounds like a little mystery.
She firmly believes her job is to deliver and keep people's secrets, to pass along the news of love and sorrow that letters carry. Faithfully she stamps and sends the letters between people such as the newlyweds Emma and Will Fitch, who has gone to London to help out during the Blitz. But one day she slips a letter into her pocket, and leaves it there.

I read this last year and liked it, but not nearly as much as I had hoped.

Hi NJ neighbor, I'm not loving it like I had hoped : (

I did pick up a few other Cape Cod books. We were there NYE for a long weekend. I love local book stores:thumbsup2

Ooh I'm glad to hear this! I haven't read the first one either yet. When I'm done The Virgin Cure, I was planning on getting the first of this little series.:goodvibes

just finished The Handmaid's Tale...whatta snoozer. It bored the crap out of me:rolleyes1 Not sure what I'm going to tackle next...probably one of the cheesy romantic comedies on my wishlist, I need something light and fluffy for a change

I have read all the books in that series. I really, really enjoyed Dreams of Joy which is unusual for me when it's a later book in a series.

Well that for sure makes me feel better about the series!^^

Especially since I just finished The Virgin Cure and I thought it was only... Okay... Meh. I can't say I'll be picking that one up again.

But it means I get to try out a new book. Yay!:goodvibes

I'm currently reading Cross Country by James Patterson. It's such an easy read, great beach material as long as you don't mind the gruesome stuff.

I just started reading These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf yesterday and already I am 70% through. It is a really intriguing story and I can't wait to see how it ends.

I read another of her books, The Weight of Silence, and didn't enjoy it quite as much but this one is a great read.

I just finished Shanghai Girls. I don't know if I'll go straight to Dreams of Joy yet. I read some reviews of it and it sounds like it can be pretty frustrating reading about Joy and the decisions she make.

Might try The Hunger Games if I can get my Kobo promo codes working....:goodvibes

Just finished Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult & started Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks.

I enjoyed Sing You Home, as I do most Jodi Picoult books. There was just one character I thought she have brought better "closure" to and had a better ending for, as I thought it was a very interesting character that she could have used to even go into depth more with the book.

I'm less than 50 pages in Best of Me but should get a good chunk ready today, as I'll be sitting at the SSR Grandstand pool reading it!

Finally decided to read the Hunger Games. I am really enjoying this book. It took me a bit to get into it but once it gets going its a fabulous book. I headed to be last night around 10:30 and decided to read for a bit. Next thing I know I look at the clock and it's 2:30! :rotfl::rotfl: Sucks you right in.
