What are you office/work pet peeves?

I used to work with this nitwit know-it-all that wore Happy perfume. The stuff is SO strong and it stinks. I can't stand it when people marinate themselves in their perfume or cologne.

People who mind everyone else's business when it doesnt even affect them in the least. Clocking co workers time, listening to personal calls, worried about who takes vacation time and sick time...THIS GETS ON MY NERVES. Worry about your own performance. These SAME people can not stand it when the people who work their set hours can perform just as good as or sometimes better then the individual who CHOOSES to come in early and stay late.

I was in this situation in the past. I had wonderful reviews and praises from all my management and sales reps. I worked my 7:30-4:00 nearly every day (unless the supervisor needed me for a project). The ONLY person who had a problem with this was my co worker. She was not ranked above me at all. She knew when I came in and when I left. She knew if I took a lunch or not. She tried to see if I used vacation time or sick time for time off. She would mention these things to other co workers and they would tell me. I finally was promoted to a Sr Rep and moved out of the department. Nosy Woman! Get a life!

Chattyaholic~ you reminded me about personal phone calls....

although we are allowed to have personal calls, my neighbor, who is a SAHM and also home schools her two sons, thinks nothing of calling me at work "with a quick question"... thank goodness for caller ID... she won't leave a message when my voice mail comes on, she hangs up and calls back. If I still don't answer, she calls my cell phone (which I shut off when I'm in the office and have TOLD her that!!!); and it's usually a STUPID "quick question" which can wait until I get home. I've told her I'm in work and can't be on the phone with personal calls all the time, my other phones are ringing!. She still doesn't understand!!!

Oh, I have a friend like that. She will call me at work for anything! If I don't answer my desk phone, or if I am out of the office, she will call my cell. I work in a domestic violence shelter and our cell phones are something that we NEVER give out the number if the person is a potential client. Well, she gives out the cell phone number to everyone of her coworkers who is being battered. While I don't care to help them, please don't call me on my PRIVATE cell phone number. I've tried to gingerly approach this subject with my friend. But, she doesn't understand that when a client gets 'attached' to you, she will call you anytime she wants, regardless of the time. Clients will call at midnight if they need to talk.

Also, another one to add!! I HATE, HATE, HATE when my lazy, has no friends of her own, doesn't have a life, turkeyhead boss calls me on my vacation. It never fails, she will call to discuss stuff going on at the office. I don't want to hear it, I'm on vacation.

I second the numerous and lengthy personal calls and the cel phone ringing with some stupid sounding song......!!!!GRRRRRRRRRRRR

People who insist on holding for someone who is on another call, even though they could leave them a voicemail- especially when its a personal call. I don't have time to babysit the phone to watch to see when they hang up, and I am not a receptionist (no offense against receptionists- It's just not my job!)

People that brush their hair in the bathroom and get hair ALL over the 3 sink counter and don't clean it up.

People that refuse to read the manual to the fax machine to figure out how do anything out of the ordinary- heck- even add paper- then ask the person that DID read the manual to the fax machine. (guess who that is?)

Ice trays- We don't have an icemaker, nor is anyone paid to make ice. If you take ice from the ice bin- you have to make more ice. People even leave empty trays in the freezer or on the counter by the sink.

I'm sure I can think of a thousand more...

ok well kids in HS can be soooooo annoying

1) the idiot lab partner of mine who 1: saw snow..and almost me made spill acid on me. then 2: put the burner RIGHT UNDER MY PONY TAIL SO IT ALMOST LIT ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) my idiot former lab partner who thought drenching himself in Musk to hide his stench...........which it only made it worse

3) the idiots in class who after the teacher explains in full detail what to do say "what do we do"

the guy across from me who has some serious snot issues and likes to "sniffle" it in every 45 seconds. so freakin' nasty.

Maybe he's married to my cubicle mate? She's got chronic sinus problems and is constantly sucking snot back up her nose. Big, loud, honking sucking noises. It makes me want to throw up. I've gone so far as to ask her (politely) if she needs a tissue, but it just doesn't make a difference.

Wow, where to begin!?!? Here's a few...

2) No response, call back, etc. You're waiting for someone to give you an answer...and they never get back to you. Not even "I'm working on it" just no response.

3) People who don't start a minute before the official work day starts, and won't stay a minute longer than 5:00.
Number 2 drives me nuts also. Don't some people realize how efficient e-mail is? I just left a job on Friday where I had 3 bosses. One of them just never answered me back on anything!  Not for the entire 8 months I worked for her. I'm sooooooooooooooo glad I'm starting a new job on Monday!   Wooooo hoooooo!!!

Number 3? That's pretty much me. LOL! I have other things to do and appreciate advance notice if I need to work early or stay late!! Especially since I need to make arrangements for a child.

Ooh! I thought of another one! When you finally have an elevator after waiting for one for about a minute, and someone comes running in and asks for you to "HOLD THE ELEVATOR!" at 7:30 in the morning, when you have to go up to the 9th floor, and they only have to go to 3.
Thats when I hit the "close door" button :teeth:

ETA:- there are 3 other elevators

5) When somebody sends me an excel spreadsheet electronically, but doesn't format it to print properly. It just screams unprofessional to me!

4) When somebody (who is not my boss) sees I'm taking vacation, and than asks "Are you sure you have enough days?" Mind your own business.

3) People who wear too much icky perfume.

2) People who come to work sick and get us all sick!

and my NUMBER 1 work pet peeve -

1) People who don't wash their hands after using the restroom. And I know who they are! Ugh!

We have a kitchen that everyone shares. For the love of God, pleae clean up after yourself. If you pour sugar or milk in your coffee, you don't need to leave proof of it all over the counter.

When someone takes the time to write me a note asking me to FAX something - FAX'ing it themselves would have been faster than taking the time to write the note! And they had to pass the FAX machine to get to my desk!

I'm guilty of this. I have a really bad sinus infection. It's not contagious and I can't stay home - so I come in and snurffle. I know it's annoying - but I can't breathe without doing it - I am just as annoyed and as uncomfortable as the people who have to hear it. (although i do apologize to the people near me).

I also get grossed out by the people who don't wash their hands after using the restroom. Ick.
