What are you getting your TEEN DD's THis Christmas 2013 thread

Anyone ever buy a bracelet from recycled guitar strings? They are sold various spots on the internet and thought this could be an interesting gift for DD14....not sure which one to get..

I never have but they sound pretty cool, especially for a music lover.

My dd mentioned she wants EOS lipbalm and I remembered seeing that mentioned in this thread. I have never heard of it before, does anyone know if it is something I can get at CVS or is it a specialty item sold at a specific store?

I have gotten them at Walmart and at Target. I find them mostly located right before you check out in Walmart. Right there with the magazines, chap stick candy, all the junk. THey are wonderful, My DD hates anything on her lips, but she loves these. I bet CVS has them as well.

Oh and they don't look like normal lip balm, they come on a little round looking thing, almost like an egg.

You can get EOS about anywhere, Walmart, Target, etc. Look in the check out lanes if you don't find it elsewhere. It is about $3 or so for one but we got a 4 pack at Sam's for about $8 I think. It was over in the pharmacy area.

I was the one who mentioned it. The day after I ordered them the dog ate the one she already had. It looks like a ball so I'm sure he thought it was his. Luckily he didn't get it open before it rolled under the couch. So if you have a dog who likes his ball beware

ETA.. We ordered ours from Walmart.com since I was already ordering other stuff. They were just under $3. Here they are closer to $6 each so that was nice.

Okay I did the Delia's clearance last night due to this thread. I spent an hour picking through it and agonizing over what to get. And to get them half price, I had to have an even amount of items, so eliminating one sometimes meant adding something or eliminating another! Thank goodness the girls were wrapped up in Once Upon a Time so I was undetected at the computer.

I think I ended up with only 6 items for $35- I edited my cart a lot trying to be practical. Even at half price clearance, it does add up and I'm not sure about fit. I am really excited about the Union Jack high-tops. There also, though, I had a dilemma because DD12 can sometimes take a 6 but sometimes 6 are too big, but reviews said they ran a size small, so I think I ended up getting the 7. I hope they aren't huge. Ugh. Still second guessing that one.

When I ordered, it didn't show up as buy 1, get 1 free in my cart but rather showed each item as an additional 50% off. So nothing showed as zero, but everything was discounted more. I didn't have to do anything, no codes, it automatically did it.

Thanks for responding. I don't know what the problem is but its showing 50% off on 2 items only. The other 8 items are reg. clearance price. I double checked everything too to make sure I got it from the clearance section.

My 20 year old is moving out first of year, so she wants things to start to fill her first apartment..So I plan on dishes, pots and pans etc..Then probably a couple things for just her and some money...My boys want the new playstation 4 unless I get a super deal day after thanksgiving they will be sharing one, plus a few more electronics and games...

I just want to thank you ajh88 for posting the Delias info. I was able to get my dd 4 sweaters, 4 pair of jeggings and 2 pair of boots for $70 shipped. Shipping cost more than any one item did
She needed stuff so I'm not going to save it for Christmas, but I did want to thank you for posting on this thread!

I just sat down with dd after school and said you have $100 .. is there anything here you want for Christmas? I would prefer for things to be a surprise but I can't pick clothes for her unless they are basics or something she said was cute earlier. She's too picky.

Anyway.. 3 sweatshirts, 2 sweaters, 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of jeggings, and a pair of boots for $107 (and I had them shipped to Canada so 20 or so of that was shipping!!).

Most of my items were showing the correct prices. There were two (a pair of jeans and something else) that wouldn't no matter what I did. I ended up getting them anyway because they were still a good price.

We are getting a few big family gifts this year (season tickets to a local amusement and waterpark and a new xbox 360 with kindle because ours broke) so the kids are not getting a ton of stuff individually, still our three teen DD's will each get some things off thier lists.


DD17: DVD's (The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth), Adam Lambert CD, A huge pack of Gel Pens (I think 100 colors) and some large Headphones.

DD16: DVD (The Hunger Games), Paint for her room, New Earbuds, A model of a Food Truck (her dream is to own a real one) and maybe an Android Phone.

DD14: DVD (The Corpse Bride), A Speaker for her Tablet, Sentsy and Scent Bars, Sleeping With Sirens CD and a large Superman Poster.

They will also each get some cash, pjs, an ornament and possibly a Wreck This Journal.

Another fun gift I am going to do for DD 13th birthday ( week before Christmas ) that some of you out might like as Christmas gifts is a years worth of gifts. In January I got married and gave my husband a box full of dates for a year! We were having a disney family moon and January's date was the Segway tour at Epcot, luckily we had friends also vacationing and they took our kids for a couple nights, so we could have a "real" honeymoon.... Hence our disney souvenir who is 4 days past due. This got me thinking, if I could do a year full of dates for my husband, then why not do it for my daughter!!!! She is turning 13 and I think it will be a good way to get she and I some alone time after new baby, alone time with dad, and some family ones thrown in! Actually, I'll take any ideas you have I hope this helps someone else! Some ideas I have so far are : ( none set in stone as far as months, expect he January one, as that is when we will be in wdw)

January - lunch with mommy and an imagineer ( already booked this months ago, and was planing on giving it to her, so this worked perfect!)

February: $ 5 gift card to dunkin donuts for hot chocolate and a donut with family member of her choice ( inexpensive but something she loves to do)

March: family date night, her choice! She gets to pick the dinner, desert, movie and game that night! My son will hate this, which will make her love it that much more!

April: I got nothing yet....( my husband wants to come up with some ideas)

May: envelope or wallet filled with $ for a shopping day with mommy! This one will be a bigger amount, and considered her "big" gift. The beauty of these dates is not knowing what they are until each month arrives!

June: mommy- daughter slumber party! Baby will be old enough to hang with dad and big bro for a night while she and I lock ourselves in her room with pizza, movies ( or golden girls DVD box set, I'm so serious that she loves it and watches it not he weekends! She's an old soul!) Im planning on putting this one in a box with redbox voucher (that I'll make) , nail polish, pop corn bag, gift card to our local pizza place, and some candy?

July- gift card too up local fro-yo place . She is obsessed with fro-yo!

After that I have nothing. Well I have some ideas, but nothing written in stone. I know DH wants to do a Starbucks gift card and go for coffee with her ( I told you, she's an old soul), and he may want to do a movie theatre night with her, and I may throw in a gift card for somewhere she and her BFF can go?


I'm going to couple this with the awesome deal I got on Delia's stuff last night ( thank you diser!) , and let her have a pizza party and sleepover and that should cover the bday! Which still leaves Christmas loolol loolol! However I did buy that disney villain elf makeup thanks to another diser!

Sorry I'm rambling, 4 days past due date and baby brain has fully taken over! Keep the ideas coming, I've been enjoying this thread and seeing what others kids like!
