What are you getting your TEEN DD's THis Christmas 2013 thread

My daughter is nearly nine, so not a teen ... but she thinks she is, lol. However, for the Dr. Who and Sherlock fans, heruniverse.com has some cute things available. Cybermonday she's getting a very cute Dr. Who cardigan.

We need a thread for nearly nine year old girls who think they're turning 16 like their aunt. So frustrating!

Ideas that I have used in the past that might be helpful.

I bought the girls travel toiletry bags and filled them with travel sizes of all the products that they use and a few first aide supplies. This idea can also be used for make up.

When our kids were younger and we were going on a Disney cruise we bought each of them a cheap suitcase for the trip. If I were going to do this with teens I would buy a nicer weekend bag that they could eventually take to college.

When I was an older teen I actually liked getting some household and baking items. It was nice having the items when I was ready to move out. I have heard of families that do this with toolboxes and tools for girls as well as boys. That way they can have a good set of decent tools when they are out on their own.

DD is 15 and this year I'm really stumped on what to get her as her "big gift".

Every year we buy our kids one big gift (we have a DS who is 10) and then a bunch of little gifts that are inexpensive.

Last year we went to WDW for Xmas so that was our big gift.

This year we will be home and she already has the big ticket items.

I asked her for a list and it has things on it like more band t-shirts & show t-shirts like from Supernatural, Avenger and Loki items, some graphic novels, but that's it! I guess it does make it easier that she has a bunch of interests that are fairly easy to find items from. I guess I'll be shopping at Hot Topic & the book store, but I gotta come up with something else!

Any suggestions? She's into music (bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco), shows like Supernatural, comic books & mainly the villain Loki, graphic novels, and art (she draws, paints).

I'm not familiar with those bands but are any of them having a concert soon? Maybe tickets for her and a friend can be her big gift.

Fall Out Boy & Panic At The Disco were just on tour together and we took the kids to see them! That was a great idea which got me thinking I'm going to look to see if any of the other bands she likes is in concert that I can get tickets for! Thanks for the idea!

You're welcome. Good luck!

No teens here yet (thank goodness!) but for my 17YO niece, I'm just sticking with GCs -- Coldstone Creamery and Forever 21. I found out she loves both!

DD15 is mainly asking for giftcards / $. I'll let the Grandparents, aunts & uncles take care of that.

She asked for a high quality printer to print her own photos. I have to look into that.

Her main interest is music, but she already has 3 guitars, keyboard and piano, amps, a full PA, expensive mics....

So far all I have is:

Concert tickets for Imagine Dragons
Guitar pick punch (she asked for this last year and I forgot about it)
perfume and lotion
Ukelele (Musicians Friend Deal of the Day for only $40)

I always buy her some pjs, clothes and shoes / boots and a couple of books.
She doesn't wear make-up (her choice), so I'm out of ideas.

My DD11 is going to be even harder.

Thank you for the book idea! It's going on my list for my DD14!

your welcome! Just make sure you get the first book in the series. CHAMPION is book 3 of 3. there are 2 others ahead of that. maybe the boxed triology for xmas? Great series...

Our DDs seem a lot alike! Music lovers! Mine has 2 guitars she loves and is very good at piano but due to space constaints she sold her older keyboard last year and now wants a full sized one back. Might do that...Wish Imagine Dragons were coming here! That would be a great gift!!!

DD is 12 this year - last year she got the gift of all gifts with front row seats to One Direction (we had a great time at the concert, I must admit), so we already know there is no way to top that. She is getting quite a few small things and she hasn't asked for anything big...

1. The Fault in Our Stars book (even though she has already downloaded and read it on her iPod)
2. Heroes of Olympus series (by the Rick Riordan - the Percy Jackson author)
3. Camp Half-Blood shirt (I don't like the ones on Etsy, so hoping I can find one somewhere else)
4. Stuffed Rancor, Star Wars shirt, and Superman shirt from ThinkGeek
5. Essie fingernail polish and manicure essentials from Ulta - also got her a bag to put it all in - they also had an Urban Decay eye shadow palette for $10 that I picked up
6. Our Moment 1D perfume
7. Maybe an authentic Cardinals jersey - DH and DSS are both getting them and I might end up getting one for both DD and myself - haven't decided yet
8. Misc. clearance clothing from Aero and Delia's
9. Coach wallet with gift cards/cash for girls day out after Christmas (from Coach Factory sale) - great idea from here by the way!
10. LeSportSac Kasey purse in Polynesian Paradise - this was an impulse purchase. She has the British pattern from the It's a Small World collection and uses it all the time - time for a new one I think - might end up holding this until her birthday in April because I think my mom is getting her a purse too

I guess we have a lot of little things already - more than I realized anyway. Just feels weird not to have a "big" gift, but something may pop up.

And for those who have DD's that like Delia's, all of their clearance merchandise is buy 1, get 1 free online right now (through tomorrow, 10/28) - it ended up that they took 50% off each item in my order. I got 2 pairs of jeans, a sweater, 3 camis, 2 packs of socks, a hat, a scarf, a pair of shoes, a Star Wars shirt, and a couple of other items for $61 shipped. There is a code (2DFR65) for $20 off a $65 purchase that is good through 10/31 and it works with the clearance sale. Might be worth checking it out! :thumbsup2

THANKS! Just snagged my sister a pair of Leopard Sperrys that she has wanted forever for 50% off, as well as a new plaid coat for DD12 (13 in Dec), and some shirts and dresses for $53 WITH shipping! The Sperrys alone were originally over $53!

Woot!:cool1:

I am planning on getting dd15: gifts cards, she has gotten back into board games(so I had her go with me to show me which ones), puzzles. Big present, I am unsure of as I have to get with her df to make sure we don't get the same thing, lol.

She hasn't hinted, which drives me nuts, but then again I don't want to get a list that would take forever to read, lol.

Stocking stuffers are usually health and beauty and candy.

Anyone ever buy a bracelet from recycled guitar strings? They are sold various spots on the internet and thought this could be an interesting gift for DD14....not sure which one to get..
