What are you getting your TEEN DD's THis Christmas 2013 thread

I am completely stumped. DH and I are going through a tough time financially and both my DDs are working and keep buying their wants. DD 18 just bought an Ipad mini!

In addition to the girls I have 3 boys one of which is deployed.

I'm not a parent but I wanted to chime in. A couple of you mentioned a wallet with gift cards and that's a great idea. She will be so bowled over by the wallet and then have an extra surprise when she opens it! My mom did this for me...it was this beautiful Kate Spade wallet that I really wanted and I kept gushing about it until my mom couldn't stand it anymore and finally went, "open it!!" lol

I did that for my 13 year old last year-I got her all kinds of gift cards from the mall and then some restaurant gift cards and movie gift cards so when she goes to the mall and hangs out with her friends she can use the gift cards to shop and on the weekends going to the movies they can walk across the parking lot to the restaurants and eat!

Hi there. We had this thread last year and I LOVED IT. I got a lot of ideas from it! Hoping to rekindle the ideas for this year.

My DD14 ran a very successful dog business this summer and ebay business and earned over $1500. Heck I should be in that business! LOL. As a result she used her hard earned money to buy BEATS, Ed Sheeran custom guitar and a laptop. Good for her I said ! We are proud of her. However Christmas is going to be a bit of stumper this year.

Looking forward to great replies on ideas for the holidays this year!

Wow_ I am the mean mom that would have made her put 90 percent of that money in the bank. My daughter makes a few hundred each day she works as an extra on a tv show or doing any acting and I let her keep 20.00 of each paycheck, the rest goes right in the bank! Even in an 800.00 commercial shoot she gets 20.00 to keep. Coogans law required 15% to go right into a trust fund for them but even after they deposit that I make her put the rest in the bank too-

This year for Christmas I got my daughter and her friend tickets for playlist live in Orlando in March- flying down for 4 days, 3 nights and the kids are going to this playlist thing while I rented myself a cabana poolside! Other than that I am not sure-maybe some broadway tickets, clothes...haven't really thought about it yet.

Liv- ( 17) Bunker back pack, sirus radio, car decal, boots, calendar, Grand theft auto, cosomo stuff for stocking, pickle pops, picture college

Kate- (14)North Face osoito, makeup Sephora, earrings, hair straightener,
phone case, stocking bath and body, north face hoodie, laptop sleeve, makeup mirror

These are my teens list, they are almost all done. It's hard to make sure it's even when they want such different stuff!

Under the tree she is getting:
- iPod Touch 5th generation (her old, old, old one was stolen last year) and a case
- Over the ear headphones
- A bunch of OPI nailpolishes from the Sephora deal
- More Bath and Body works scents
- Lots of other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting

I'm probably too late, but what was the Sephora deal? My girls love the OPI nailpolish!

Joining in here too!

DD15 has been babysitting. She put money in the bank, but still saved enough in hand to buy her own android tablet. And she is an impulse shopper at the Dollar Tree. So, now we are back to square one. Glad she has it, but that's what we were going to buy!

She does not need more clothes or nail stuff. Well, ok, underwear and socks, but really there has to be something out there.

We are also going on a trip this winter--Galveston Island.

She and the boys (both in college now) have said that gift cards are the best, but I know they will use them to buy stuff for their friends. Not complaining since they are all giving of themselves. I just am looking for the "ooh" gift. So glad we have the 2 year old!

And one other dilemna..she turns 16 one month after Christmas.

My daughter is a bbc fan girl so she is getting a custom made Sherlock coat. She will also get another season of doctor who, and a few books. She's 17

Ooooh, I would love to hear more about this coat!! My DD LOVES Sherlock. I am looking at Sherlock and Dr. Who stuff for her.

My 15 year old DSD is very much into Tinker Bell and I will get her some tink themed gifts. Also she wants a new pair of fashion boots. She was really wanting a laptop but her b/f gave her an extra one he had! Nice! :goodvibes I am thinking of getting her lotions, scarf, clothes, and like I said Tinkerbell things. She is a Disney lover too so if I see anything Mickey related that would be cute but not corny (b/c she is 15 now!) I will get it. Maybe a gift card to Star Bucks.

She has a phone already, now a laptop. She is not picky at all and actually very appreciative for what she has and never really asks for stuff.

I'm probably too late, but what was the Sephora deal? My girls love the OPI nailpolish!

They are closing out the "Sephora by OPI" line, so they are discounted to 3 for $10 (price shows as $4.50 each, but when you add 3 to your cart the discount automatically appears). Since it is a close out, the color choice isn't the widest, but I found plenty DD13 will like.

There are also free shipping codes out there for when you buy $25 or more - just Google.

My daughter is 19 (still a teenager, right? lol). She's getting an iPhone 5s in gold, a new phone case, an Anker portable battery charger, some perfume, a Patagonia jacket, a pair of boots, a necklace from a boutique she likes and a Chillow. Yes, she wants a Chillow because she likes to sleep on a cold pillow. She will get a bit of money in her stocking, some mascara, the makeup pad removers she likes, chapstick, and a few other small items in her stocking. I have ordered the phone and the jacket and will order the phone case soon. I still have to pick up the other items.

I hear you! She has always been a good saver and splits her Christmas money 50/50 into the bank but for her summer job I let her spend her money she earned. Though I do have a very sweet dad that matches her dollar for dollar into her college fund. So whatever she earns he matches so that is quite nice as well!

Last year I had one direction tickets for her big surprise, and she sure was!!! Best gift ever!!! I love having that element of surprise. This summer I am taking a friend for her to Disney and pretty much paying for the majority of it. In hindsight I wish I would have kept the universal tix as a surprise b/c both girls wanted to go and I already said yes and bought tix. Darn. that would have been good surprise!!

My youngest is 16. We got her the following:
Uggs (the only thing she has asked for)
Ipad 2 (we got this for free through a promotion)
Ipad case
IHome
4 fun Iphone cases (dirt cheap on Amazon)
Vera Bradley throw blanket (Sale color, $20! She is going to LOVE)
Puma jacket with thumb holes (why is that all the rage?)
Wrap around bath towel/cover up thingie (Kohl's clearance, $5)
E.L.F Disney Villian nail polishes
Bath and Body Works candle (Free with promotion)
Introductory Scuba lessons (Groupon deal!)

We are going to Disney in January, so I also plan to get her a gift card so she has spending money.

So very glad I stumbled across this thread. We have 4 children, 16,14,5 & 4.
The little ones are so very easy. DS16 year old he's all sports but I'm getting a bit tired of that. Our only DD14 is usually easy but I would love to add a special something and am struggling for a new idea.

This past week my DH and I started shopping around. I also have placed a few orders for jewelry from small business friends that I have. One make great Creative Beaded Jewelry and often holds an auction. Screaming deals.
:santa:

We are going back to Disney in February so that's the BIG gift for my kids, DD15 and DS4. I told them they each had to pick the one item they wanted most for christmas this year. DD asked for a Lilly Pulitzer dress. I wasn't planning on buying it yet, but last week I just happened to be browsing around online and found Bloomingdales.com having a ONE DAY sale on LP for half off! I got a $288.00 dress for 144.00 and threw in a filler item that'll be part of my Mom's christmas and got free shipping as well! I am SO excited about this present!
DS4 has asked for a Nabi tablet. Right now they're 179.00 everywhere but I'm hoping to get a better deal on Black Friday.
We'll also give each kid a $50.00 Disney GC and a few stocking stuffer items.
Once the Angel Trees go up in our area, we take both kids and let them pick an angel gift as well.

Two of my favorite gifts ever received were really inexpensive. When I was about 16 my grandparents filled a photo album with all kinds of pictures of me from birth to the current day. I LOVED that gift and still do as it was so fun to see pictures I didn't normally see.

As an adult, my inlaws were really struggling financially and despite everyone saying we didn't need bday gifts and such they felt they had to give us something. My mother in law makes the BEST pumpkin bars so that is what I said I wanted. I got to eat the whole pan! I didn't need the whole pan of course but I ate it anyway!

My 14 year old DD asked for a record player for her b-day and she uses it all the time! So I'll be getting a couple of vinyl records for xmas to help build her collection. Amazing the number of new artists releasing on vinyl, easily found on Amazon! she is a Dr. Who fan and I found some cute little things (note pad, journal) on Amazon as well. And I preordered a Dr. Who Vault book coming later this month. Last book in the Divergent series. "Big gift" will be tickets to see Imagine Dragons in concert. Was able to get floor seats and since they are not a HUGH band, tix were "only" $50 She loves Lush bath products but they are pricey so will get a one or two items or a gift assortment. Ear buds for stocking... she is always losing or breaking them! And most likely some clothes... keeping an eye out for American Eagle sale.
I just bought the last book in the divergent series for myself. No way I could wait til Christmas:)

The photo album idea is great! I might try it. I bought photo albums before but never got them together. I work retail so it is getting into our busy season.

I have DD(14), DS(12-13 on 1/10), DD(10-11 on 1/21). Last year we really splurged and got them all mini iPads. They were a HUGE hit. They all know that was very special and don't expect a repeat.

Oldest DD is hoping to join the girls ice hockey team so I might be able to get her something for that. I might get her tickets for a NHL game. She's also a very good musician. She plays piano & trumpet but can play just about anything by ear. I did a search on amazon for a music box and found one that allows you to punch paper to make your own music. It was only $17 but I can't wait for her to open it as I think she's going to love it.

Both oldest & DS love Top Gear so I ordered DS a few books.

Youngest loves Lego and Schleich figures.

We also have been without a TV in our family for over a year. Just have a small one in kitchen and one without cable in my bedroom. I think I might do a family gift of a smart TV. Surprisingly the kids haven't complained much about lack of a TV. I want to be able to use the wii again.

My DD14 is an outstanding musician too! can you share that item you reference above?
