What are you getting your 11 year old boy for Christmas?

a metal detector......great hobby to start

basketball goal

tickets to concert/sports event

skateboard

start a hobby.....train set, model airplanes

gift card to Barnes & Noble....or book suggestion the Young Bond selection. My son loved this series.....it is age appropriate series of 007 as a child.

My 11 year old would rather go naked than get clothing for Christmas! :lmao:

Dawn

:rotfl: My nephew gets his "cool clothes" from me. The rest of his stuff is basic Walmart, Target, thrift store so it's a big deal to him to get designer clothes from me. He's in 6th grade and this is the first year he asked me for stuff before school started.

Thanks for all the suggestions! My DS10 turns 11 in January, so I'll carry some of these ideas over to his birthday as well.

My DS is getting some DS games, Wii games, Legos, books (I second the Percy Jackson series...my son LOVES them), and for his "big" gift I am considering an acoustic guitar...he wants to take lessons after he gets his black belt (hopefully April), but I thought we could look on You Tube together to get started??

He likes collecting autographs, so last year I sent away/requested a bunch of requests for autographs from some of his favorite actors, musicians, etc. and we received a BUNCH back. I created a "book" for him consisting of a binder and those page protectors...I split them up into categories. He's gotten a few more that were "late" for Christmas, but he just added to his book. I've been grabbing any new ones out of the mail and will give him new pages to add to his collection. Some of his favorites include James Earl Jones (Darth Vadar), Taylor Swift, Dan Radcliffe, etc.

I'm so going to get the Lego Dictionary and will look into getting the software to do the stop action movies...the Claymation one didn't get great reviews on Amazon, does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks!

I once got a free autographed picture of Judge Judy, just for asking for it. I have no idea why I asked for it!

If you want a free stop action software for him to play with until Christmas, my boys have been having a ball with this one:

I have an 11 yo. We bought him a PS 3. Also got him a new stitched Steeler number jersey. His old one is looking pretty crappy.

He also asked for the new nerf gun and some spygear stuff.

My son will be 11 in January and I'm at a loss. He's immature (PDD), so he still plays with a lot of is figures and Imaginext toys. He loves Legos also so the Lego Dictionary sounds right up his alley, I"ll have to get those. I will probably get some of the Gamewright card games. I recently bought Slamwich at the second hand store and he loves it!

Other than video games, what are you getting your 11 year old for Christmas? We have a Wii, but my son does not play with it that much. He'll be 11 just before Christmas. He likes Knex, Legos, etc., but I sometimes feel like I'm getting him the same thing over and over.

He likes to play board games, but he has to have other people to play them with. He has siblings, so that's not the problem, but I'd like to get him things for just him.

Any ideas?

I am going to subscribe and read on. Our youngest son turns 11 on Dec. 3rd and he is not into the Legos and such anymore. He loves to play outside and of course play XBOX. It is so hard to figure out what to get this age group.

I'm a member of the having an 11 yr. old boy club!

Mine is asking for a laptop (he means a little netbook), a dock for his ipod, and Star Wars Wii games. He already has a digital camera and phone (not an i-phone, just one with a keyboard). He's also getting the 39 Clues books he doesn't have yet, and he loves those Schliech(sp?) animals -- he has a bunch but I'm sure I'll find a few new ones to put in his stocking.

He already has a Patriots jersey and Celtics shirt, and that's the extent of his sports love. Ok, he likes the Patriots cheerleaders and the Celtics dancers, but Mom's not ready to support that yet....

He's really into Star Wars: Clone Wars, so I'm hoping there might be something he really likes. One of his favorites is a dictionary of all the Star Wars aliens. He can be occupied by that for hours. He also loves the new Dr. Who, so we'll get him some comic books.

I'm also thinking in terms of "experiences" for him -- coupon for a day out with Mom and/or Dad, doing whatever he wants to do. He loves to go to the movies, Science Museum, bowling, etc., (so we're going to go anyway...), it seems like a gift he will appreciate since it's "His Day".

My son loves Star Wars and has every light saber known to mankind. LOL

:thumbsup2 Great idea. He loves the Steelers. I will get this. THANKS

I just ordered this for my DS (he 9 & a 1/2)

I have a netbook on layaway for him. I'll probably get him a bigger Lego set (they're so $$$) I've purcashed a few PSP, DS & WII games for him. His dad got him a nice bike for his B~day this year. Maybe I'll purchase a $100 Universal Studios ticket for him (well for all 3 of us) will they be good in 2011? I don't know if we'll visit FL in 2010.

It's so much easier & funner to shop for DD.

I might think about the netbook too. Of course my son that just turned 16 will flip out probably. :rotfl2:He got my old laptop but a friend kinda redid it and it works great. It is only 3 years old. My 10 year old always wants to use my new one or his brother's. We have a PC too that is less than a year but for some reason..laptops are what kids want.

One more thing that came to my mind was a remote control car, possibly a gas powered one if it is an affordable price....dont really know if he would be into the though.

:surfweb:

iPod Touch for sure. They can do most things that a netbook can and they are super portable.

They are also a great gaming system with most games costing anywhere from free to $5. There are some more expensive but almost all are free or $0.99.

The downloadable apps are awesome too!

If you can swing it, it's a can't miss.
Check eBay and you'll find the best prices.

Do a search for, "iPod touch 3rd generation".

My son just bought a flip camera at Big Lots yesterday for $30 and he loves that too.

I will "third" the Percy Jackson series! My 11 yr old is an avid reader and devoured this series! He is totally fascinated by Greek mythology now, and is reading and learning about it all on his own, which is awesome! I would love, love, love to find another series for him that he would be as psyched about!

He actually did just finish Margaret Haddix's "Found" which he loved as well, and today I picked up the sequel which is "Sent". So those might be some books to try out. Also, Artemis Fowl series.

Also, two years ago we got ds a bike/skate ramp that we keep in our driveway. He loves riding his bike up and over it, and its plenty of exercise!

My DS11 is always building contraptions, etc... Last year we gave him a basket filled with colored twine, fishing line, duct tape, colored electrical tape, jumbo roll of aluminum foil, hammer/nails, tacks and such. He loved it and was got very creative. Another big hit was a huge pack of AA /AAA batteries from Costco. He was forever foraging for batteries before that. Oh yeah, one other big hit was a magic kit. He's gotten really good and loves making magic videos. :thumbsup2

I third the suggestion of the Flip video camera. My ds is 12 and has had a Flip for 2 years now. His friends and he have a blast making videos and posting them on youtube. I am going to see if there is anywhere you can trade the older one in for a newer one.

My ds12 also loves the Percy Jackson books. We also love the Star Wars esential guide books. There are several and my ds loves them all.

I would also like to find a stopmotion software for him that is reasonable.

My 12 year old just showed me the TRU big book. In it is a holder for the Wii and accessories (spinner type thing), he wants that :confused3

Maybe your 11 year old would like it also!

I also have no clue of what to get my DS who is 10. He really has so much already, and with family asking what to get him I have no clue this year and he doesn't even know what he really wants.

Our son will be 11 in Dec, so we will have birthday followed by Christmas. I second the Magic Kit idea. Our son loves that kind of stuff, as well as Wii etc. I know there will be a game or 2 for Wii and DS that he would want.

He is also becoming an avid outdoorsman, so this year will be the Camping Christmas. He will get a new good sleeping bag, a back pack, and probably a good camp pad also, like a Thermarest. Perhaps a new larger fishing pole, and maybe a multi-tool in his stocking. He can probably use a whetstone for his pocketknife also. I want to find him a couple of small portable games he can take camping, like a small magnetic chess/checkers board, deck of cards etc. Those make great stocking stuffers, along with iTunes cards.

He can probably use a new soccer ball too. He loves the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid books and there is another series that I can't recall at the moment. This year may actually be easy for a change.
