What are you doing with your tax refund?

We haven't even thought about doing our taxes yet. We usually owe because my husband is self-employed and we have to pay into Social Security, but this is one of the years we get to claim my daughter, so who knows.

It'll go into our emergency fund like it always does, though., if we get any.

should be a new commercial...."You got a tax return...what are you going to do now?" "I'm going to Disney World!" ;) That's where mine is going, probably next year's too!

:thumbsup2I agree with that:thumbsup2

We are paying for half of our trip to WDW in June 2012.
Will use some of our next year tax return to finish it.:yay:

Every 3rd or 4th year we use our income tax refund for a trip to Disney. Spacing our trips out makes it extra special, magical and new again.

Rest of the years we ususally put it towards home improvements. This year we intend to put a down payment on a new car for DH, purchase supplies to put on a new deck (using the Lowes income tax card), and the rest will be used for car repairs, new patio furniture/grill, and a fun spring trip to Hershey Park!

(If we get half of that accomplished I'll be satisfied, it always goes faster than you expect!)

My DH has our set so near perfect to getting nothing but paying nothing, cause he likes the money all year instead of at the end of the year. So we got back just enough to pay for our 2 new kittens to get fixed. They did this week so the refund we got back 2 weeks ago is already gone. :( That was $400.

I had intended on putting our tax return towards our October trip however life decided not! Our engine light went on. We thought maybe it was a short. So we took it in to the mechanic. They said it was in fact a short but when they were taking it off the rack the brake line broke. So there went $700! Plus we need to pay about $300 in vet bills for our kitten coming up in a month or so. I put some away and only a small portion to Disney.

It was going to go to our pet fund but we found another stray a couple of days ago so it will be going to getting him fix and updated. Also I am consider to file to be a non-profit because our private rescue is getting to be really expensive.

We got more than I expected (thank you DS!) so we
- paid off our boat
- paid off our credit cards
- paid off other misc bills
- paid for airline tix and meal plan for a last minute trip to WDW :cool1:

What tax refund? It seems every year we have to pay more!!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to be employed ... but let's stop the madness of the government spending money that they don't have!!!!

I have a budget that I have to live by ... I can't just go print more money to make ends meet.

I wish I could use my refund for the DLR trip I'm planning but alas, it's going towards "life".

-pay off random medical bills (luckily, a small amount)
-pay off credit card (also a small amount)
-the remainder is going into savings. I have an old car that I'm hoping to get another year out of. But the remaining refund $$$ may have to go towards a new one.

Getting caugt up or ahead on bills, senior pictures and saving some. My son may possibly be going to austrailia so some should go to that as well.

I dont' know yet if we are getting anything back, probably a bit.

We need a new computer. I have my laptop but our desktop is fading fast.

We will put the rest in our emergency fund savings account.

Dawn

My tax return was unexpected so I put the entire thing into an IRA. I figured I might as well use gifted fed money to reduce my fed liability next year. It's a crazy cycle!

If we get anything, we're throwing it into our car fund. I want to pay in cash for our next auto. I'm hoping our old one holds out long enough. :rotfl:

Sounds good! :thumbsup2 We're doing something similar. My DH's car will need to be replaced in 4 years, so extra money goes into that account and we save every month too. It'll be nice to pay cash for our next car.

Hubby just filed taxes last night, I was very relieved we didn't owe federal. We owe a little to the state, so the federal return will cover that. Then, we're undecided whether to put in savings for our upcoming dental bills or get a head start on our next debt slashing victim :)

My $100 State return will be going straight into savings! Every little bit counts...right?!

:cool1:

Full federal refund goes into the bank. Half state goes into bank, the other half toward our credit card--our last one--almost paid off!!!:cool1:
