What are you celebrating

Hey all,

Almost done booking my next WDW visit. I know they always ask if you are celebrating something. I always say no because we never have.

This time we are celebrating an anniversary on our trip and listed that.

Does Disney actually do anything with that information for the guests? Or is it just something they use for their own data?
We got a call from Mickey and Minnie for our anniversary.

We also got a signed picture from the famous duo left in the room wishing us a Happy Anniversary.

If you call to book they will almost always ask if you are celebrating anything special. I don't think it asks if you book online.

Actually if you call for anything about the trip! :) I called to put a request on and they asked if I was celebrating anything - (this was like 4 resort changes ago, but it's still on there because when I called to make my AoA requests, the girl said "Ooh! I see you're celebrating your birthday!! It's gonna be so much fun!!"

I don't know if it does anything besides the button, but I figure if you are celebrating something it can't hurt. Who knows...there might be some magic pixie dust floating around when the assigner has two rooms left and two reservations - one with a celebration and one without - I like to think that the celebration would be sprinkled with some pixie dust. I don't know that for a fact, it's just my suspicion as every time we've been celebrating something we've gotten little bits of magic with room location (AKL had booked a standard, were given a savannah view (yes, an actual one, not a standard that has a savannah view); CBR bumped to a preferred building, etc.) and the time we weren't we were literally at the furthest possible rooms in the Mansions at POR.

May be coincidence, but if I'm celebrating something on the trip, I'm gonna make sure to note it.

The hubby and I went for our honeymoon a few years ago. We wore our bride and groom ears at check-in, so of course we were given buttons right away When we got back to our room later that afternoon, our ears were arranged on our pillows and we had balloons, a signed bride and groom picture from Mickey and Minnie, and a free champagne voucher from the bar at the resort!

After that, we made sure to wear our buttons everywhere and were treated to free champagne or dessert at nearly every TS restaurant we went to! We also got lots of congratulations from CMs and even other guests! It was very magical.

We're going for our anniversary in just about two months, so you better believe I'll let them know we're celebrating again!

Almost every trip I've gone to Disney I've been celebrating my birthday. The last trip I went for my anniversary. When you check in mention that you are celebrating and they'll give you pins. Restaurants will sometimes bring out a little free cake for dessert. California Grill gave us free champagne for our anniversary. Having the pins on in the park might get you pixie dust like fast passes. My last trip my boyfriend and I got surprised by these people dressed as hotel staff for the Tower of Terror. They followed us to the ride being funny, walked with us to the front and brought us into the roped off section of the hotel. They gave us a letter that said we could get VIP seating for Fantasmic that night. Then they walked us through a short cut avoiding the lines to the elevators and we were given our own elevator to ride. It was amazing!

For birthdays, we've usually received something small: a button at resort check-in, free dessert, a card, etc. For a major graduation celebration (medical school), we received nothing, despite the celebration being noted on resort and restaurant reservations. We asked for and received a button at Magic Kingdom, which the newly minted doctor wore each day of our trip. Not one cast member commented on the button during our grand celebration, but we had amazing interactions with other guests who offered congratulations. We ended up having great conversations with dentists, doctors and aspiring medical students during our stay.

So, even if cast members don't offer pixie dust, it's still possible to receive magic from fellow guests. :cheer2:

We've celebrated a lot at Disney over the years, ranging from birthdays to anniversaries to our honeymoon. I've never had anything in the room other than on DCL immediately following our wedding on Castaway Cay when we were spoiled for the entire cruise, but at meals we've gotten cards, desserts, pins, etc. I think it definitely depends on the CMs as well as luck.

Lots! In May when we go it will be my son's Golden Birthday, I'm celebrating my 50th year and Mother's Day. All in the same week! Woot Woot! :cake::bday::flower1:

we went last year for me 40th birthday. When we went to breakfast at Crystal Palace, they decorated our table with confetti, brought out a cupcake with a candle and had a signed card from Pooh and friends
