What are you celebrating

Hey all,

Almost done booking my next WDW visit. I know they always ask if you are celebrating something. I always say no because we never have.

This time we are celebrating an anniversary on our trip and listed that.

Does Disney actually do anything with that information for the guests? Or is it just something they use for their own data?

Maybe they'll put a couple anniversary pins in your room.

I'm sure it's mainly just a question that goes into their database

I'm curious, too. We'll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this summer. When I booked Be Our Guest for dinner, they asked me and I stated it was our anniversary. I 'm not expecting anything but it certainly would be cool if they gave us something, like free gray stuff. hahaha

I told them about birthday when I was booking my latest trip, and on my birthday I got a birthday card in my room when I got back from the parks! It was very sweet.

I'm not sure what (and if for that matter) they do for other occasions though.

My last trip it fell on my birthday. I got a pin and a "magic wand". I wasn't looking to get anything so it was a nice surprise. I still have both.

It kinda varies. Once when I went with a buddy of mine around his birthday they had a birthday button in the arrival packet at the hotel. Also, the waiter at BOG knew it was his birthday somehow and brought a card signed by Beast and Belle and some Grey Stuff with a candle. It certainly can't hurt to let them know!

Where exactly do they ask you what you are celebrating? My last trip I had to call the reservation line and tell them to mark down it was our honeymoon and then I called the dining reservation line and had them mark it down on all of our dining reservations. From some of the posts in here it almost sounds like it's something you fill out when you book your reservations.

If you call to book they will almost always ask if you are celebrating anything special. I don't think it asks if you book online.

Aaahh ok that makes sense. I've never done any booking over the phone. It's not a big deal to call after you have everything all set and have them put it on all your reservations in one swoop. Was just curious why I never saw anything that asked.

I mentioned our anniversary this trip, and we got the pins when we checked in, as well as a 5x7 of Mickey and Minnie that said congrats! It was also connected to our Magic bands, I guess, because twice when we used our FP+, the CM said, oh happy anniversary! So, if, like me, you are trying to kinda keep it downplayed, don't mention it! hahahaha

My mom and I were there over her birthday a few years ago, which I mentioned when booking. One day when we got back to the room there was a phone message wishing her a happy birthday from Mickey and Minnie.

I put down that I was celebrating my graduation this past summer. When we ate at Narcoossee's, they wrote "Happy Graduation!" with chocolate on my dessert plate. That was a nice added touch to our vacation. I'm not sure if it happens every time.

That's awesome! I am taking my nephew for his high school graduation present this summer so I'm going to be sure and add that note to our dining reservations. I hope he can get a little Disney magic during our trip as it'll be his first visit!

I told them we were celebrating our 45th anniversary and we got a pixie dust upgrade to an one bedroom. Boy was that an amazing time.

I haven't decided yet for our next trip. We're going mid/end of September, but we're telling DD for her early August birthday that we're going to Disney instead of having a party for there 8th bday, so it would make sense for us to do that. It will also be about 5 weeks before our 16th anniversary, and our plans for a big 15th anniversary trip were thwarted, so maybe we'll celebrate at Disney, but I don't think DH will want that attention.

My daughter will be turning 21 during our trip at the end of the month. We have spent her last 4 birthdays at WDW but this is a big one.

I have been spending my birthday (Mar 11) at WDW the past 5 or 6 yrs.
I usually always go solo so all the birthday wishes are so nice!
I had dinner at Boatwrights on my bday last year and my server brought me a glass of champage with a strawberry perched on the side.

Got Mickey Mail today with the usual little booklet, it's different now!
It's not themed after the Incredibles anymore. And on the inside it said
"We are glad you will be celebrating your Birthday with us at the Walt Disney World Resort"
Very cool!

We have celebrated birthday's at DL and our anniversary as well and only received buttons. This trip we're celebrating my DD's graduation so, I'm hoping for some pixie dust. I did mention this when I was on the phone with a CM in regards to our reservation.

With dining reservations, *sometimes* you get a free cupcake or something. At resorts, it's usually just buttons.

At check in at the boardwalk last sept they asked if we were celebrating. We mentioned we were down for our anniversary and an early birthday for our daughter. That night we had cards for our anniversary and her birthday as well as balloons in our room.

on that same trip one of the cast members at the desk gave my daughter some Minnie and Mickey figurine toys and she was shown some pixie dust at the big top in magic kingdom when they specially made her a candy coated marshmallow. They had a whole thing and took her picture, she thought it was the coolest.

I'm not sure if it was all a matter of right place type things, but it was really little simple things that are very memorable.
