Oh that cake was wonderful! Wish I had some right now!

What a wonderful Birthday celebration!! I think your charms are adorable. :cutie:

Thank you! I was really surprised to get them.

Thank you! :goodvibes The charms are so nice - My mom found them at JC Penny's.

Sorry-I fell behind! I hope you had a great birthday-doesn't it seem so different when you're older? I miss being a kid---birthdays actually felt real!

They do. Even though I had to go to school on my birthday, we had a class party, and then the bday parties w/ friends and family. Now I hear that kids can't bring cupcakes and stuff in for their birthdays anymore.

I think that rule depends on your school district. I know that here I can send in treats for the class, but they have to be store-bought and in the original packaging. In other local districts moms can still send in homemade goodies. Kinda silly.

Heyyy! I'm basically all caught up now, I read instead of paying attention to the boring video my boring teacher is showing us right now! lol

Happy belated birthday!! :goodvibes

I love love loveeee that Raspberry Fizz notebook and pen! I got the VB catalog in the mail and had to throw it out because I wanted SO much stuff from there for the spring and just can't afford it right now :sad2: Too cute! :cutie:

New York, New York!

Friday night, after my birthday dinner, I got the kids off to bed and set out their clothes and mine for Saturday. Nonna made sure that Pop Pop's keys, wallet, and glasses were all in one spot and she knew where they were so we wouldn't have a repeat of our Christmas trip. Pop Pop got the video camera ready and I charged my camera battery, packed the diaper bag, and then headed to bed. The plan was to go the diner for breakfast around 9 am and be on the road by 10-10:15.

Saturday morning I woke up and Pop Pop was at the church helping to set up for a function that day. I put my make up on, skirt, and shoes, before the kiddos began to wake up. I dressed DS while Nonna sat in bed talking to Mom Mom. DS was dressed and running about. I got DD dressed, Pop Pop came home, Nonna still on the phone. I gave her the "call her at the diner. Get out of bed!" look and soon she was moving. I finished getting ready and began to put the camera together and gather up coats, mittens, and hats. It was 9:35 when we pulled out of the driveway.

We were seated right away. I ordered my usual there - ham & cheese omelette, deep fried home fries, and toast. Pop Pop ordered the same. Nonna ordered a cheese omelette and french fries, and I ordered the kids a short stack of pancakes. The food came, DS happily ate but DD wanted no part of it. Eventually she did eat.

The kids slept on the drive into the city; it was an easy ride, no traffic. We parked on 51st Street about a block from Ellen's Stardust Diner, where we planned to eat dinner.

We strapped the kids into the stroller and walked towards 5th Ave. First stop on our trip: World of Disney!

On the way, we passed by Radio City Music Hall. Notice the difference in traffic/crowds compared to Dec?
471311911_62QRY-M.jpg

We got to WOD, and headed straight up to the 3rd floor where the characters would be. There was a pin trading event that was just wrapping up; Pop Pop had wanted to come up for this originally, but with the a start time of 10am and ending at noon, it wasn't likely we would have made it. Also, I saw that these pin traders were those serious pin traders you see a lot at DTD with the suitcases of pins.

Pop Pop got us on line and was taking the kids out of the stroller, getting them all excited. I got a bit flustered and wanted to get organized before getting online, but it worked out as the CP was only letting 1 family in at a time.
DD and DS waiting for their turn.
471315471_wKaWo-M.jpg

When DS spotted Donald, he fought me to run past the red rope. He was squealing and yelling for me to put him down. Then it was our turn. I hate that I have no pictures of this, but hopefully Pop Pop got it on video. DS was sooooooo excited. He ran into the room, and begins running towards Donald. Points to him and stops. Just stops, mouth open and cannot move. He was starstruck! It was soooo adorable. I had to walk him over to Donald and help him hand his autograph book to him (Yes! I remembered the books this time!)

471322755_MJrmA-M.jpg

DD was a bit cautious, but didn't cry or get upset. She wanted Nonna to hold her, but told Donald Duck he was #1 which he loved! One of the CPs took my camera so I was able to get in the picture. They were calling out DD and DS's names to have them look at the cameras.

After a kiss from Donald,
471254575_wmgCi-M.jpg

we were off to meet Goofy.

DS did the same thing. Run, smile, then stop, jaw drop.
471264733_xrq3h-M.jpg

Goofy was wonderful! He got down on the ground, signed their autograph books, and played with DS. He would imitate all of DS's actions. The CP, photopass photographer, and all of us were hysterical!

DS did NOT want to leave Goofy. He kept trying to run back in the room through the exit to see him. I think Goofy had a fun time playing with him, too!

DD went up to Goofy with me, gave him a high five and blew him a kiss. I have to see if Nonna got a picture on her camera since mine was around my neck. After meeting them I said to Nonna and Pop Pop that I think if I can get 2 more visits up here before our trip then I think DD will be very comfortable seeing the characters in WDW.

We got back on line, this time for Cinderella! To pass the time, I took pictures of some of the collectibles.

471317922_yXu9V-M.jpg

Now it was DD's turn to be starstruck. She was so excited and became so shy! DS walked up to her, checked her out, and walked away like, "I don't do this Princess thing."

It is silly if you ask me. I know the school district in the neighboring town requires all children (K - 12th grade) buy their drinks at the school. You are not allowed to bring a thermos, a bottle of water or other drink, etc into the school. Why? Well, the hs students were putting vodka in water bottles and bringing them to school! It's another reason why I am seriously considering homeschooling. I hate that children cannot be children anymore.

Aw, that's such a shame that times have changed.

It is a shame. I always looked forward to bringing in homemade treats my mom had made. One year, though she surprised me and brought in carvel sundaes for the class. Those were a hit!

Heyyy! I'm basically all caught up now, I read instead of paying attention to the boring video my boring teacher is showing us right now! lol

Oh I remember doing things like that in some of my classes. I had some boring prof's, especially in my major, philosophy.

I haven't decided what new pattern I like. I saw them in person and IMO they are prettier online. I want a new bag for the trip but I may end up with an older pattern instead.

Ariel would be at the Princess meet n greet later in the afternoon. So we did some shopping and browsing, and planned to go back to meet Ariel later. More collectibles!

DD and now DS are starting to play with Mr. Potato Head, so during our trip, I will be filling up a box for each of them with Disney parts to bring home! DD was very good. She played with them, but when I told her it was time to look at something else, she put them back with no fuss. I was so proud of her!

Pop Pop picked out some pins to add to our pin wall and let DD and DS pick out their own lanyards for the trip. DD picked a pink one w/ tiaras on them - of course! DS picked a red one with Mickey, Goofy, and Donald on it.

Apparantly, this is Vinylmation, but I'm not really sure what it is. If they are going to be Vinyl clings or what. To me, it looked like a shower curtain!

Pop Pop and DD went to buy a pretzel so we could continue our way down 5th Ave towards Central Park. The vendor was nice - he even gave DD a free bottle of Gatorade. The people were much more relaxed and we never encountered any rude people or remarks on this trip.

We arrived at the zoo just in time for the penguin feeding so we went there first. Nonna and Pop Pop took the kids out of the stroller and held them up near the glass while I stayed behind near the puffin exhibit since it was very crowded watching the stroller. Then we switched as the crowds began to thin out after the kids saw the penguins eat a couple of fish.

Looks like a great day....can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

Just reading about the birds freaks me out! I stay out of the bird room at our zoo....YIKES! :scared:

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO adorable I got a huge smile on my face!

Thank you! :goodvibes

You know, I didn't even bother to ask one of the CMs what it was. :confused3

Just reading about the birds freaks me out! I stay out of the bird room at our zoo....YIKES! :scared:

Not a bird lover, huh? We used to have 2 cockatiels so birds flying overhead don't bother us. But I know that if you don't like birds it can be freaky. I skipped over the bats area - they are behind glass, not like at AK, but they give me the creeps. I'm going to muster up courage to get some bat pictures in AK this time. I've seen some awesome ones, so now I have to try.

With a quick walk, we made it to Broadway and on the corner was Ellen's Stardust Diner.
471302351_9Ebnh-M.jpg

There was a line outside, thankfully not a long one. Within 20 minutes, we were seated, and DD was fast asleep across my lap. Boy did it feel good to rest our feet! I had been walking around in 3" knee high boots all day. And they weren't in pain, but after 6 hours, they were tired!

It's a tight squeeze, but oh so much fun. The servers take turns signing everything from oldies to B'way hits to todays music. DS had all the servers singing to him and he was rockin' in his highchair. I ordered a hot dog for DS, Pop Pop got the meatloaf, Nonna got a cheeseburger, and I ordered chicken fingers. Everything was super good! Except their iced tea. It was more like barely brewed tea, so I have to remember that in future visits not to order that as a beverage.

I ordered DD chicken nuggets to go since I knew when she woke up she would be hungry. I was right! We paid the bill and walked the block or so to the parking garage. She woke up just as our car was brought up. As Pop Pp packed the stroller, shopping bag, and diaper bag in the car, Nonna and I got the kids settled in their car seats. DD ate her meal as we drove home; she insisted that she didn't miss meeting Ariel. DS fell asleep in the car. A great end to a fun filled day!
