What are you celebrating? Absolutely nothing! TR writing has commenced!

This series is awesome! It would make a great scrapbook layout or framed series! I love the pics that tell a story. Very nice! ::yes::

Awwww.....I wish I had a little girl! :flower3:

Oh I think I will frame it in a series! Great idea!

Aw looks like you had an interesting day outside!

P.S. Soo cute of DD in her Alice outfit AND shoes!

Thank you! It was fun - I think DS enjoyed some of it too despite falling down!

Ooo can get lots of pictures in the Stardust Diner if you go, I really want to see it. And that sucks about Moonstruck not taking reservations, its so annoying when restaurants don't take them.

DS looks so cute in the snow and the picture of him fallen over is just so sweet. And DD in her Alice dress, she just looks adorable. Its such a cute dress princess:

I will definately take lots of pics of the Stardust Diner - right now that is where I have planned to eat.

Thanks - DD is wearing her Alice dress again today. Complete with shoes!

Sooooo CUTE!!!

How fun! My DD loves to play in the snow. We've had lots of snow this year, about 50 inches, but it's been too cold to play, like -10 degrees or colder. We've only been able to enjoy playing in it twice.

DD is the same way with her dresses. She insists on sleeping in her Snow White dress with her red dress shoes on and will wake up if you try to take them off. I LOVE that Alice dress, where, O, where did you find it?

I have no idea how they just wake up like they do - and out of such a dead sleep! I bought the dress at The Disney Store; it was a Halloween costume bought 50% off! I think the online store had it as well; I believe there were shoes and a headband also, but I didn't get those.

Oh my goodness those pictures are sooooo cute!!!

I hope you survive teething!! DS cut all 4 eye-teeth at the same time! YIKES! Luckily it was quick!

Oh the teething saga! I'm so ready for this to be over. He has been cutting 2-4 teeth at a time w/ the exception of his last. Actually, I have no idea when he cut it bc it was only 1 and it must not have hurt all that much compared to the others! Poor little guy!

I'm jealous of all your snow! We got barely nothing!

It's still here - I'll send you some! I'm ready for warm weather now!

Your kids are so cute in the snow. The picture of your ds falling down reminds me of my son when he was 1 1/2 and he would fall all the time. I think it is so pretty when the snow covers the trees like that. I am glad we are getting a break from more snow but it is sure cold here.

Thank you - I thought it was cute too, although I'm sure DS wasn't happy I snapped a picture first before helping him up!

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! We had lots of fun in NYC and I took plenty of pictures! My birthday dinner was wonderful on Friday night as well, and I have pics to share of that, too!

I guess I need to change my signature to show I'm 29 now! ;)

I feel like I'm in a holding pattern - ADR's are made, except for Sanaa, and if we decide to fill in any of those empty days, I need to make a 'To Do' list, photography wanted shots list, and packing list. What else? Go shopping! :woohoo: But that has to wait until early April too. I want to hit the fast forward button. Luckily, we're already a 1/3 way through February so that's one of the good things about it being a short month.

In the meantime, to help pass the time, let's get some audience participation and discuss your favorite Disney desserts!!!!!!!!!!!!

My absolute favorite Disney dessert more than just a dessert, it is an experience, a memory ... a chocolate ice cream cone on Main St. sitting on the curb or tables by Casey's watching the crowd filter out at the end of the day waiting for the Castle's Kiss Goodnight. I dunno - the ice cream always tastes just a bit more, ahem, magical there!

What is your favorite Disney dessert?

:bday: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY:bday:

I am so sorry I missed your birthday, but I hope you had an amazing day, it sounds like you had lots of fun. Where did you decided to eat in the end?

And favorite desserts, hum.... TBH I only choose dessert if they have creme brulee or something that I really fancy, else I prefer to have an appetizer. But all the creme brulee's I had at Disney were really good, probably the best was from the Yachtsman Steakhouse. It had berries on and was so yummy :cloud9:

I am glad you had a great weekend!! My ds has a bad cold and I been busy yesterday with him. Now he says his left ear hurts so this will be a fun night. I can't wait to see your picutes from the weekend.

party: :bday: party:

Sounds like a fantastic time in NYC, can't wait to see the pics!

As far as my favorite dessert...Ghirardelli sundaes!! Last year we went to DTD and it was closed. DH was soooo bummed, he said he would have rescheduled our vacation if he knew Ghirardelli wasn't open. That's how much we love it!

Hmm... my very favourite Disney dessert is probably the bread pudding from 'Ohana or Boma.:lovestruc

And Happy Birthday!!!

New York sounds great! I was there last St Patricks day my DD was in the parade with her school band! It's awesome there something to experience and I'm from a Big City! LOL!

Happy Belated Birthday!! :bday:

Happy Birthday...a few days late! Hope you enjoyed your birthday dinner and had a very special day!

My favorite Disney dessert as of right now is the Flourless Chocolate Cake from Wolfgang Puck's. I am not usually a chocolate girl, but that cake was pure heaven!:cloud9:

Happy Belated Birthday!!

My favorite dessert is the Chocolate Moose at Le Cellier. Before I tried Le Cellier, I didn't think any of the desserts seemed that great so I decided to try the Chocolate Moose. I was so glad I did, it was sooooo yummy!! :cloud9:

Thank you - we went to Old Man Rafferty's for dinner. I have pics uploading now so they will be up later this morning!

Creme Brulee .... yum! Chefs de France has excellent creme brulee. I"m going to have to remember to save room for dessert!

I am glad you had a great weekend!! My ds has a bad cold and I been busy yesterday with him. Now he says his left ear hurts so this will be a fun night. I can't wait to see your picutes from the weekend.

Oh I hope DS is feeling better. I hate ear infections!

We did - as soon as my bday dinner pics are finished uploading, I will add those!

Ooooo - those are great sundaes! When Mom Mom and Dee Dad have come with us - Ghiradelli has always been on her must do list! Oh I was bummed to see it closed last year too!

Thank you! :goodvibes I've never had dessert at Le Cellier. My dinners there were always ok, not bad, but just ok, and we've always seemed to get a server who would rather be elsewhere. DD love chocolate mousse ... shhhhh - don't tell her they have it! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday...a few days late! Hope you enjoyed your birthday dinner and had a very special day!

OK, I'm a chocolate girl and that sounds wonderful! Wolfgang Puck's you say ... hmmmm, I wonder if they would have it at the Express place 'to go'? I ate a Wolfgang's once - I was dating a guy who was a server there, and also a Jungle Cruise skipper. Later he was close friends with Aladdin and Prince Charming.

New York sounds great! I was there last St Patricks day my DD was in the parade with her school band! It's awesome there something to experience and I'm from a Big City! LOL!

Happy Belated Birthday!! :bday:

Thank you! Oh that St. Pat's Day parade must be incredible! I've never been up for that - my neighbor marched in it back in hs as well. Somewhere we have the videotape of it! Are they marching again this year?

Hmm... my very favourite Disney dessert is probably the bread pudding from 'Ohana or Boma.:lovestruc

And Happy Birthday!!!

You know, I've never tasted bread pudding - ever. My kids have and they like it, I should really try it. I'm just stuck in my chocolate loving ways!

As I write up my birthday report, I thought I would start with today's Question of the Day!

Do you have any traditions that you do every trip to Disney World? If so, what is it?

Every trip to Disney, our first park is always the Magic Kingdom. And the first ride is always POTC. I don't know how the ride got picked to be first, but it always did and now we never could imagine going on anything else first! The last ride of the trip is almost always POTC as well since the last park we visit before going home is the Magic Kingdom where we don't say, "Goodbye." but "See ya Real Soon!" And then Nonna and I cry and we are laughed at.

Another tradition I am starting is taking a picture of DD and DS in the same spot every trip so through the years I will have a record of how much they've grown at Disney! DD's first trip I have her in front of the train station. Last year, I have pics of DD and DS in front of the train station, in Norway, in Mickey's garden, and hmmmm.. I think somewhere else. I didn't get a pick of just them in front of the castle bc one or the other would be ready for a nap, bottle, etc etc. I do have a pic of them w/ me and all the balloons around us on Main St. - I think I may choose this as an option w/ me out of the pic, though.

I'll let you in on a little secret - I am petrified of balloons. Absolutely petrified. I cannot stand the noise of anyone touching them, the sound of them hitting one another; I completely freak out when they burst. Last year a CM gave DD a DVC balloon at SSR when we were eating dinner. I became so anxious and nervous that Pop Pop had to go deflate it. Why do I have this fear? Well, when I was about 3, my parents were car shopping and a salesman asked if I wanted a balloon. Despite my mother saying no as I was never fond of them at birthday parties to begin with, he proceeded to blow up the balloon in front of my face and guess what? Yup, it burst leaving a red mark on my face and I have been scared to death ever since. So if you are ever invited to any of my parties, you will notice that balloons are never present - and never will be. You can imagine my utter delight when exMIL gave me a helium tank and balloon set for a Christmas gift. No, I am not joking. :sad2: OK, so this went waaaaaaaaayyyyyy :offtopic:

So if you've read this far ... what are your traditions?

We've only had one family trip to Disney so we have yet to develop any traditions. :sad2: I love the picture in the same spot idea...I'll have to try that one when we go in April!

To Me!!!!!!

Well, let me say that Feb. 6th did not start off as a very merry day indeed! DD decided that she wanted to wake up at 3am and not fall back to sleep. Instead, she screamed and cried and finally I gave in and turned on the TV so she could sleep next to me. I dozed, but woke up every 10 minutes checking to see if she had fallen back to sleep. Nope. There she was :happytv: I believe it was maybe 6 when she finally fell back to sleep. Yes! I have 1 1/2 hours before DS wakes up! HAHA! Silly Danielle. Sleeping is for everyone else but you! DS woke up wailing - those darn teeth. Tried to comfort him and he snuggled up in bed with DD and I but soon they were both kicking each other in their sleep and I was getting very close to falling off the bed. About 6:45 we were up and the kids were having chocolate milk.

DD and DS were in rare form that day. DS took a 35 minute and DD had no nap at all. By the time Nonna and Pop Pop got home, I told everyone to go to dinner bc all I wanted to do for my birthday was relax and sleep. Of course, I had to go to my own bday dinner so we finished getting ready and after fighting DD on which coat to wear - she didn't want to wear any - off we went. DBIL was on a business trip in Phoenix so DSis picked up Mom Mom and Dee Dad and drove them to the restaurant.

I decided on Old Man Rafferty's. I was originally leaning towards Moonstruck but they wouldn't make reservations for parties of less than 12 and on a Friday night I knew that we could waiting up to 2 hours for a table there. Since I could not expect DD and DS to wait 2 hours for dinner, I opted for Old Man Rafferty's. We had reservations at 6:30. As soon as I buckled the kids in the car, they fell asleep. We arrived at 6:35 and Pop Pop dropped us off to find a parking spot. DD and DS woke up rather pleasantly so the 15 minute power nap did them good.

The restaurant was busy but not packed. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were seated right away. After taking our drink order - how I wanted a glass of wine so bad but I opted against it due to the lack of sleep - we buried our faces in the menu to choose apps and entrees. While we waited for our appetizer - nachos - to arrive, I opened my gifts.

Mom Mom and Dee Dad gave me a check which I had to promise to spend on myself, not on groceries, gas, or the kids. DSis and DBIL gave me a GC to J Crew, my parents gave me the Vera Bradley Raspberry Fizz notebook I had contemplated buying earlier last month, and bought the other design in addition to the matching pen, along with an IOU for a shopping spree for our Disney trip! :woohoo:

However, the best gifts of all, were those from DD and DS. DD gave me a 'daughter' charm and DS gave me a 'son' charm. This weekend I'm going to pick out a chain to put them on so I can wear them all the time. I have to take a picture of the actual charms, but here is my reaction to seeing them. Yes, I'm a sappy mess!

DD and DS didn't want to sit in their seat while we waited for food so they got some quality time in with Mom Mom and Dee Dad!

The Nachos were good, although I would have preferred a bit more cheese on them. The picture above is only the middle of the dish. They also had very VERY hot peppers in them. I used to be able to eat very hot and spicy foods, but ever since having kids, I am more sensitive to it. I had to pick out the peppers. Mom Mom, who also eats hot and spicy food found them to be too spicy, but Pop Pop said he didn't taste any heat to them.

DD and DS shared Mac N Cheese. I thought the bowl was neat.

I ordered the flat iron steak with a sherry sauce, broccoli rabe, and a potato, onion and gorganzolla spring roll. It was soooo good. They gave me 6 pieces of steak - I could only eat 2, half the broccoli and almost half of the spring roll. The spring roll had a bit too much onion in it for my liking so I took pulled some of it out and it was fine. Definately happy with my choice.

DSis and Nonna had chicken stir fry. They both said it was excellent, and I think I may try this the next time we visit.

I saved room for dessert! I had a hazlenut cappuccino and Chocolate Confusion Cake - just heavenly!

DSis and DD shared an Oreo cookie cake, Nonna also had the Chocolate Confusion, DS had chocolate ice cream, and Mom Mom and Dee Dad shared a cannoli cake which they said didn't really have the cannoli cream they were hoping it would have in it. Pop Pop tasted some of Nonna's cake.

Despite the rocky start to the day, it was a wonderful birthday dinner. The kids went to bed rather quickly despite the sugary desserts and I got our clothes, cameras, diaper bag, etc ready to go for the next day - NYC!!!!

Side Note: I didn't do too bad taking pictures of the dishes. I didn't get everyone's but it's a start! Of course, I have no food pictures from NYC! Have to remember to take food pictures.. remember food pictures ...

Looks like you had a lovely evening. The food all looks delicious and you had my 2 favorite things, steak and nachos. And your presents sound lovely, especially the charms, I can't wait to see them.

Yes, it was very nice! The steak was especially tasty. I will definitely go there for lunch or dinner again! :thumbsup2 As soon as DD goes down for a nap, I'm going to take pictures.

Your B-day dinner looked fabulous! I can't wait to see the charms!

As for a tradition, we always visit MK first. I can't imagine going to another park on the first day od Disney. I wish I would have started taking DD's pic in the same spot. I'll have to start that this year! I guess we really don't have any specific traditions, but now I think I'm going to start some!

Great, can't wait to see them :goodvibes

I should have them up in an hour or so!

I read about the picture tradition by someone on the boards here. I don't remember who, but I thought it was a wonderful idea - she had chosen the fountain in front of Spaceship Earth.

Glad your birthday got better. What a nice dinner and great gifts from the fam!

Thank you! It was a great night.
