What are the smallest possible contracts to find through resale?

So just to clear things up... Right now I am renting points for a stay in March 2006. If I was a DVC owner can I buy out another member use year points and add them to my points if I needed a certain amount of points for a trip. I mean like rent points but put them in my DVC account.

Yes, but some renters are not willing to do transfers and others will charge a higher price for transfers than for rentals. This is most likely due to the limitations placed on transfers by DVC. When you transfer points OUT to another member, you forfeit the ability to transfer any points IN during the same year.

You have one other option and that's to make separate reservations and then link them.

For example you use your points to reserve a Studio at Resort (A) for Mon/Tues. You rent points from someone else and they make a reservation in your name for a Studio at Resort(A) for Wed/Thurs. You then have member services link the two reservations together. It then behaves like a single reservation for Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu and you won't have to change rooms.

Not to confuse the issue- but, if someone (anyone can do this whether a member now or not) wants to purchase (not rent ... but purchase) a small contract, they can do that thru resale. Purchases thru DVC directly have a 150 point minimum unless you are already a member. The points in the purchased contract will be yours until the contract ends in either 2042 or 2054 and will be renewed each year until one of those dates.

Members can also have points transferred into their account from another member. This is a one-time transaction and the points may be used once. That is similar to a rental by a non-member except that the member is able to make and control his own reservation.

Another thing to consider with purchasing smaller contracts. It's best to buy them at the same resort with the same use year, otherwise you have multiple contracts that you have to manage for banking, borrowing, using the points within the appropriate time frame.

We have four contracts (from Disney) with the same use year. Three different resorts (also can cause problems since you don't get the 11 month advantage for a single resort with three different resorts). We have a single contract that we bought from a reseller (small 50 point contract). It's the same resort as two of our other contracts, but a different use year. We have to carefully track those points so they don't get lost.

The more use years and resorts you put into the mix, the more confusing it can be. When you buy from Disney, they will only sell you the same use year. Unless you purchase a totally new 150 point contract.

Plus if you buy resale, the contract retains the contract number of the original owner. I don't think you get a new number (unless maybe they had multiple contracts from Disney). When you get the same use year from Disney, they just add a suffix to the original contract number. For example, your first one is 12345.0; the next would be 12345.1 and so on.
