What are the preferred rooms at pop and are they worth it?

Preferred genrally means rooms/buildings closest to the main area where the shops and restaurants are.
However, you could have a room at the fartherest part of the preferred and be nearly the same as the best of the standard.
We have stayed in both. And preferred is a little more convenient. But I would not say a deal breaker. And somewhat debatable on worth the extra $. With kids in tow or health issues, I would try for preferred. Otherwise...

Actually, I did not answerthis well. Here:
Selected rooms in the 50's, 60's and 70's sections are preferred locations, which put you closest to the bus stop, Everything Pop (food court, front desk, lobby) and next to the main themed pool.

We've never stayed preferred. We've always gotten 70's or 50's and been close to the main building/buses without paying the extra. However, if I was going to be stuck in the 80's or 90's, I probably would pay extra to not be. But you never know where you're going to be. It's a chance we take, hoping our request for 50's or 70's is granted. It has been 3 times.

So, I guess if it would really put a damper on your vacation to have a walk (like if you have someone in your party who cannot walk distances, etc) then it might be worth it to pay the extra. If it doesn't matter that much, then roll the dice, request 50's/70's and you'll probably get it.

Have fun! :)

And it's relatively easy to determine from those maps (thanks VERY much for your work, WillCAD!) that some rooms in the eighties are closer to the buses than some room in the sixties Preferred sections. I measured. :)

We've stayed at Pop Century quite a few times now, and we've never paid for the preferred. Our first time staying there, were were in the 60s bldg, overlooking the kiddie pool, but it didn't cost extra at that time. We've also been in the 50s, 70s, and I believe it was the 80s. In the 80s bldg, we just cut through by the parking lot and we would be right by the bus stops.

We stayed at Pop for two weeks in July - had room 0101, first floor, first room right next to the Big Wheel. My brother & family met us later during the week and they had a preferred room. They were a few rooms over from us, on the other side of the Big Wheel. To me (and to them), we didn't feel it was worth the extra money.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!!! Have a great trip!!!

Ok, great thanks! I think we'll chance it and see where we end up. My only concern is that my friend that is coming with us, does NOT walk very much and I'm afraid she'll get winded really easily. I just don't want to make it a hardship for her. I know we stayed at ASMo, we had a preferred, but it was almost like we didn't we were pretty far away...I didn't know if pop was any different:)

We never pay for a preferred but this last trip in June we got moved to one because we had asked for a king bed and they only had one left in the first section of the 50's building, the closest building to the luggage drop off section. It was great! I don't think I would have paid extra but it was really nice after the EMH night at MK when we got back at 3:30am and were dead tired. We walked from the bus to our room in 3 minutes.

We just returned today from Pop and we had a preferred location in the 50's Section Building 1. I really liked the location and it was very convenient to Classic Hall. If we stay at Pop in the future, I would request a preferred location. We were in Rooms 1106/1107 and thought they were perfectly located near (but not across from) the Bowling Pin Pool.
