I live in New Jersey and we don't have any of these stores. What makes them different from one another? Thanks

Having worked at Winn Dixie for 5 years...
Publix is by far the best of the 3...it is the nicest and the cleanest...but you get what you pay for...You will find most of the same food at all 3 stores, but at Winn Dixie and especially Albertsons, you sacrifice a nicer shopping atmosphere for a lower shopping bill. After working for Winn Dixie, I usually do all my shopping at Publix...it's worth it.

Albertson's is the most expensive as a rule but most are open 24 hours and has the best meats. Publix is the best overall IMO. I haven't been to the new Winn Dixie near Disney but have heard good things on this board. Publix would be my first choice but I wouldn't pass up one for another unless you have a lot of shopping to do.

I agree --

Publix is my favorite of the 3 for cleanliness and friendly atmosphere but it is a little more expensive. I do go to Albertson's though when we want to get a good cut of meat and have a nice steak for dinner -- they can't be beat most times. But other than for a good cut of meat, Albertson's is just way to expensive for me.Winn-Dixie is okay too, usually the least expensive of the 3, but Publix is nicer.

If you just want to pick up a few things though and keep the costs down -- I would vote for Wal-mart supercenter. They are usually even less expensive than Winn-Dixie. For example: We like Honey Bunches of Oats cereal, it costs us $1.98 a box at Wal-mart and $2.98 a box at Winn-Dixie and over $3.00 a box at Albertsons. And somewhere in between at Publix unless on sale.

So as much as I love Publix, unless they are having a sale I usually do my regular weekly shopping at Wal-mart. :)

Can anyone comment on which is the most convenient for a stop on the way from the airport?

I find the Alberson's on Orange Blossom Trail to be the most convenient from the airport. Take the Orange Blossom exit off of 417 and go directly across Orange Blossom into the parking lot of the shopping center with Albertsons. There is also a Ruby Tuesday in that same parking lot area, so it makes for an easy stop, since the flight we usually take gets to Orlando about 6:45 pm.
