::MinnieMo Hi everyone I am new to the boards. We are planning a trip to WDW in early May and I was wondering what kind of crowds to expect that time of year. We have always gone in July and they are always so busy. There will be just me and hubby. Thanks Linda

Hi Linda, and welcome to the DIS!

Crowds in early May are generally light. In fact, we were just there this past May (May 5-8, Mother's Day weekend) and despite the fact that it coincided with the kickoff of the Happiest Celebration on Earth party, we thought the crowds were very light.

Have fun!

Bob

We love to go after the Easter crowds - either in April or May, for two reasons (1) Perfect Weather! & (2) Low Crowds!!

March is busy with all of the college spring breakers & April is busy until after Easter week. We went mid April this year and it was BEAUTIFUL!! We have also been in May and it was just as great. Really, after Easter right up until schools let out in June, it's very manageable.

Just make sure to book dining reservations (90 days out) for any & all restaurants (character meals too) - that you want to try. That way even if there are some crowds, you won't have to worry about not getting to sample the places that you've thought about.

Have Fun! :goodvibes

Linda.....we go every year in early May. Weather is
usually great and the crowds are low. Have a wonderful
time. :goodvibes next trip for us Nov. 1st. Shirley

the UOG gives every day in early and midmay a '6' or '7' for crowd level which means:
peak waits of 55-64 min
peak waits of 65-74 min

respectively.

starting the 21st of may, they start ranking 8 and 9

Having just been there this past May 5-8 as mentioned above, I'd have to disagree with the UOG on this one.

With VERY few exceptions--Soarin, (which had just opened), RnRC, and Space Mountain--everything was under 20 minutes.

And this was on the weekend of the HCOE kickoff party!

GO in MAY- You'll LOVE it!

We went in late Aug for our honeymoon- now we celebrate in May, the last 2 years- crowds are great! We did get some rain and lots of cloudy days this past May, but the year before it was nothing but blue skies- just FL I think.

Its not too hot or humid and the crowds are very managable.

Thanks everyone for your replys I don't quite know what all the abreviations mean yet. Linda :umbrella:

::MickeyMo We go early May every year! It's our favorite time to go! However, be sure to go before some of the schools let out (usually around the 20th or so) because then it gets really busy. It's really noticeable. Our last day was the Saturday after the Friday when schools let out. Our wait times went from 10-15 minutes to 90 minutes or more. It was crazy! Good thing it was our last day! ::MinnieMo
