What are the best restaurants that accomodate to someone who has special needs?

I am coming with two different people this time and they have asked me your opinion. One has diabetes which is controlled by her diet and one cant eat fried foods. So what I was wondering is did you have an experience where someone who was going with you needed a special menu and what happened??

Anyone you can help us would be more than appreciated

I believe you can call 407-WDW-Dine and they will make sure you have your parties needs met at the restaurant you choose. That goes for the sit down meals. The restrictions you describe usually can be accommodated on the spot, but if you call ahead there will be more alternatives for you.

SIL is Diabetic, MIL is on a limited diet and they happily eat all over WDW. They can find so much that they CAN eat, that they are packing up and moving to Kissimmee next year, LOL. MIL says she's going to have dinner in Epcot every night!

At the counter service restaurants, carrot sticks can be substituted in for the french fries, you just have to ask. You can also ask for any item a la carte. They are about a dollar less that way.

Enjoy your trip. I really don't think those dietary needs will slow you down.

If the Dining number can't help you, here's the phone number for the WDW Executive Chef's Office: (407) 824-5967
They deal with all the menus at WDW (from full service to food carts) and will be able to help with your questions.

A diabetic just needs to look at the menu and select carefully. They don't need specially prepared food. Give me a break! I've been going to Disney for 28 years, 25 of them with diabetes and never needed to get some special prepared until I developed and allergy to Nutrasweet. And that is for desserts.
Btw people with diabetes eat fried foods all the time in moderation.

By The Way thanks to everyone for their kind replies. As for Lisa, The diabetic I am coming with is very nervous so thats why I posted this for her. And I wasnt talking about the diabetic who cant eat fried foods I meant someone else in my party. I didnt expect to get a wise comment just some helpful info to help my party.

Whatever comfort level someone has or whatever they think their special needs might be should be respected, so please keep it cool.

I didn't make a wise comment. And I don't appreciate being accused of it. I was trying to be helpful and your post was not clear. Maybe I should just stop trying to help anyone. I don't need this when I try to help others.
Geez this is the last thing I need right now. I may just drop off of DIS altogether.

My last tirp I too could not eat any fried foods (I was awaiting gall bladder surgery which I postponed to go to disney!) There are hundreds of choices at disney that aren't fried, sandwiches, salads, turkey legs (my favorite). It should be easy to find chioces for all members of you party including the diabetic.

Good luck and have fun!
