I have a reservation with Dollar in August 13-26 for a minivan for $502.42 - everything, I checked National and they were over $700, am I doing something wrong, does anyone think I can get a cheaper rate or just stick with it. I'm not sure if I am using the right codes. I have gone done $50 from first booking it, but I'd love cheaper, but that's just my cheap side.

Thanks for any recommendations.

It looks to me like you are getiing rack rates from the companies. Have you tried any codes. Check mousesavers.com they have lots of advice. Do you belong to AAA or Sams Club or have any other affiliations. You can often get good rates going throughthem .

You could try Priceline if you are so inclined. I did this once and got a great rate on a minivan. To a leap of faith to do it though.

Also try putting in for Aug 13-27, a full two weeks. It has been done and people have found better weekly rates rather than 1 wk and 6 days.

Just some simple advice. Good luck

I thought $199-$220/week is a good rate for a minivan. Add all the taxes and fees and you're around $500. You can keep checking but I think you have a good rate.

I just checked your dates at National with Priceless contract and Entertainment $20 off coupon and the total came to $675.21 (ouch!). I booked my August rental a few months ago (10 days, full size) and I frequently check back to see if the price has lowered. This week, I noticed that the price jumped quite a bit, so I think the prices for August have recently gone up. Just keep checking back ~ I have feeling they will go down eventually. You could make a reservation just in case, then just keep checking back and if they do go down, just rebook the reservation with the new lower rate.

I have a minivan reserved thru national emerald club for 7 days in Sept using the priceless code 6600330 and the entertainment book coupon for $225.00 including all fees. So I'd keep looking if your at $500.00

she is going for 2 weeks so i think $500 is not bad... we usually pay over $200 for 1 week
