Seems like lots of folks on the dis are able to get airfare to MCO for $88-$110 from the Northwest (I'm from PA). When we went down in Oct we paid $206 with Airtran. I get dings from SW but I never see deals that good. If you have found a deal like this in the past... how did you do it? TIA!

Airfare price doesn't always take distance into consideration, it's more related to airline competition. I just bought a ticket from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles for $202 for the last week of January. On the other hand, Pittsburgh to Minneapolis was $565.

I think you are one of the few if you are finding airfare like that. I paid $220 RT. I am not one with a great rate like that.

We fly out of Pittsburgh - one time (2 summers ago) I got a Ding on SW for $39 each way. Have not seen that fare again. Last summer I got a fare of $54 each way. They had a one day special on airfare in Pittsburgh. It did not last more than a day. I have gotten in the habit of checking air fare at least 2-3 times a day when I am looking for a deal. For this summer, SW has fares between $79-90 each way from Pit. Air tran is a little higher at $114.

Just keep checking!

When SW came into Pittsburgh, they had some great fares to get new customers. Now that USAir has scaled back, they have increased. I'm afraid those $39 days are over.

I got cheaper flights for August 08 then I did for July 2005.

How did I do that? I convinced my dh to fly out of White Plains, NY instead of Hartford.

Our flights out of Hartford on Delta were $280 RT leaving August 11/12/13 & returning the following M/T/W. I checked daily & at different times of the day too with still no change in price.

I was also checking Jet Blues rates when they came out the last week of December out of White Plains. They were all $99 one way.

For some reason I clicked 'back' on the Jet Blue page/flight time/info page & found the week before for $84 one way. So I researched dates & found $84 for each way & changed my room reservation to that week & then booked my flights.

Lets just say I am excited because not only am I getting cheaper flights but we (dh, me & the 3 kids) are staying at my parents house the night before & my father will take us to the airport since it's about 1/2 hr from them & I don't have to pay to park at Bradley which would add another $100 or so.
