I know this question is asked a ton but I am now needing advice about it as well. We are going in 2010. We have 2 choices on what month to choose and I am juggling the weather, the crowds and the age of our youngest DS. (my daighters will be 9 and 7) Help me think of all the angles people. We only get to go about every 18 months or so, so I like to choose wisely.

Jan 2010: Son will be 27 months old. Weather is colder and my daughters LOVE swimming at the pool. Is it even warm enough to swim?

Sept 2010: Son will be 1 month from turning 3. Of course I hate waiting even longer when I just want to get back there lol. HOT weather but great time for the girls in the pool. Possible free dining

Ok we have been in Sept and enjoyed it but I worry about that kind of heat/humidity wth our son for his first trip. The heat was unlike anything we had felt before with that humidity. I worry about it making him unbearable and cranky lol. Also didn't love the downpours of rain lol. Jan. worries me because I don't want it to be cold :( Not sure of the crowd difference.

So if you had to look at DS age 27 months vs almost 3, any difference? We do like to do one sit down meal a day.

What about difference in months, which would you choose Jan or Sept?
Thanks, Missy!

Sept. Visit the parks in the AM. Take a nap with the 3 year old during the heat of the day, or let him splash in the pool where heat is not an issue. Enjoy the late evenings. Are the water parks open in Sept?

Well, the weather is usually quite warm in January, but you can never be quite sure (this year, it was FREEZING in February!!!).

I suggest September. I don't think the age of your son is going to affect the trip much, but he will be slightly older and might be able to remember it better. And in September, you're almost guaranteed to be able to swim.

Pros and cons for both times. Sept is in hurricane season, and it is definitely not unheard of to have a good blow. Other than that, it will be very warm and great pool weather. January, well, most pools are heated, but there may not be any inclination to get wet!

Do you like to be in the parks at twilight (my favorite!) and after dark? Sunset comes early in Jan and there is some extra daylight in Sept.

Age-wise, no significant difference, although there is no predicting what little phase a youngster may be going through during those years. :rotfl:

What the heck, you are talking about going to WDW with your family during two nice lower crowd-level times. You can't lose. If there are other factors, let them help you decide.

If swimming is that important, then I would choose Sept. It might be warm enough to swim in Jan., or it might not, you won't be able to predict that. (And it can be COLD in Florida in the winter!) You do know for sure that it'll be warm enough in Sept. though.

Oh and I wouldn't worry about your ds's age. Just go when you want to go. :)

Well we are going to try end of Sept this year so we shall see. But we have gone a couple of times in Dec/Jan and the weather was cool but was better than being in Chicago! Plus the crowds were lighter AND we were able to swim cause 70 is warm for us!:goodvibes

I'd say September too! The girls will be able to swim and you can just take afternoon breaks with your son if he needs it. We took DS at 14 months at the end of June and he did surprisingly well. We had one of those mister fans from Walmart and filled it with water. He did a great job. And, if your girls want to stay and play, but DS needs to take a break, you and DH can take turns hitting the airconditioned locations within each park.

Our past three trips have been in Jan/early Feb. We always have had at least 2-3 days the kids could swim (we're from Illinois so swimming in a heated pool with temp in the 70s is fine with my kids.) I personally love it because the kids aren't whining every single day to go back to the resort and swim. It isn't hot so everyone can easily spend the entire day in the park. The parks close earlier so you're never out particularly late and the kids can stay close to their regular bedtime schedule. We've never had a lot of rain.

We took DS at 28 months and then at 38 months. He was great both trips (and this is a kid who NEEDS to stay on his schedule and normally hates crowds, loud noises, etc.) The benefit of him being older was that he no longer napped. The benefit of being younger was he wasn't tall enough to go on BTMRR. The second trip that was about the only thing he wanted to do at MK :) He was also ok with the Goofy coaster over and over while big sis waited in line to see the princesses.

I would say September, especially if you are really looking forward to swimming with young ones.
