Last Monday I started having shortness of breath, went to the doctor on Tuesday and had blood work done and an EKG (normal). Wednesday had a chest x-ray (normal). She did start me on blood pressure medication as my pressure has been on the high side for awhile now. Then I was to do a glucose tolerance test this week, so stopped at the doctor's office to pick up the diet sheet and told them I was still having shortness of breath (this was now Friday) so the nurse said she would talk to the doctor and may give me a call. About an hour later they called, wanted me to go to the hospital for a spiral scan so went to do that. Said they would call if anything showed up. They called. Severe pulmonary embolism in both lungs. Had to get right back to the hospital and be admitted, and started on heparin. Blood draws every 6 hours and sometimes in between. Plus I found out I am diabetic.
And after my thyroid surgery in May, my thyroid is not functioning properly so I'm now on medication for that as well. Spent 4 nights in the hospital and just came home late yesterday afternoon. Am on glucophage for the diabetes, but do have to test my blood 4 times daily.
I'm so glad to be home, but if any of you can offer support, prayers, or good thoughts I would sure appreciate it!! Thanks!!

It was awful. Fortunately he said I could try a longer acting version that doesn't have this sort of side effect.
