Owners Locker

When y'all first got your locker, did you just do a big order from Walmart/Target to deliver to the resort, or did you slowly take down items to leave. Same for keeping up with toiletries that expire, I assume people are ordering for delivery on site.

I'm trying to figure out what I actually want to leave in FL vs needing for other trips and at home. I don't want to duplicate *everything*, like rain coats, umbrellas, second set of shoes, etc. but those are also some of the most annoying what-if items to travel with each time.
I think we were hybrid and continually tweak it as the kids age out of stuff. Like, our first trip (non DVC) in 2019 was in August, and I had read all the tips and tricks on cooling towels, neck fans, hats, and I had bought us each Camelback backpacks for in the park hydration. We also had water socks for Typhoon Lagoon/poolside, some water toys, etc.

Our Welcome Home was in December of 2020 during Covid, so then we brought sanitizer, masks, lots of OTC meds, light mittens, hats, and we bought a TON of holiday merch that ended up being heavily discounted on the trip, so light-up necklaces, tote bags, etc. That was when we ordered the lockers and threw all the holiday gear in there because we LOVED early December and had such a great trip.

We kept rotating trips from killer summer heat to the holiday season in early December, so we kept adding the extreme weather gear, because coming from New England, we don't have a use up here for neck fans, cooling towels, and Mickey-shaped light-up necklaces, etc.

Then we started inviting extended family and discovered alcohol and food delivery for some staples, and it really just makes sense to keep slippers down there and spare PJs -- oh, and I forgot to pack a bathing suit one trip in December and could not find any bathing suits that fit on property in the "off" season and missed out on pool/hot tubbing, which sucked, so I have since packed an ugly bathing suit that is there *just in case* I forget it again!

I think you see where this is going. So, yeah, threw in some initial toiletries to make room in the luggage for the trip back home and seasonal stuff, and it's grown from there. As our habits have changed, we have purged some stuff, but that just gives my husband an excuse to buy more Tommy Bahama/RSVLTS gear to leave down there. I can't believe this anti WDW Debbie Downer now has an entire locker/bin devoted to HIS clothes, but here we are, LOL. We keep decks of cards/UNO in there, too.

Oh, if you decide to go to Universal, you CAN pick up your own bins and bring them to the hotels and use them there, but you're responsible for returning them back to the warehouse. You want to arrange for it ahead of time, but they had our bins right at the door, ready to go for us to pick up. We did a UNI/WDW split stay, took the Uber XL from MCO right to ON warehouse, grabbed our gear, and then went to UNI for a few days and then Uber XL'd from UNI to WDW with our luggage and totes. I think we were able to have them picked up at WDW and we didn't have to drop them off? It's been a few years since we did it, so I don't want to lead you astray if I'm misremembering things, but I do *think* they picked them up for us at WDW for the return trip to the warehouse.

It's really great customer service at ON. Never had an issue with anything with two trips a year since 2020.

We stayed in other Orlando timeshares in addition to DVC, so we made sure to cover some of their shortcomings too. Some things we brought from home - ponchos, hats, sharp kitchen knives, a good nonstick frying pan, coffee mugs, coffee filters, small supplies of OTC meds, first aid supplies. The H2O products irritate my skin, and I’m persnickety about shampoo, so during our routine grocery stop for the first OL delivery we bought normal sizes of shampoo, body wash, lotion, toothpaste, etc. I used the inventory list on the OL website to keep track of things that needed replacement or replenishment, either by bringing from home (small items easy to transport on the plane) or by adding to our Orlando grocery list.

We keep some US hair straighteners (solves UK to US voltage issues), reusable shopping bags, large bottles of toiletries (restrictions on size we can carry in hand luggage from UK), inflatables, “real” crockery and cutlery, laundry detergent, a cool bag and ice blocks for moving between resorts, and a coffee machine to use if we’re staying offsite. It’s perfect for us as we only fly carry-on. Next visit I am adding a luggage scale and a small backpack for the parks.

Some things we bought while on holiday - we always hire a car so it was easy to pick things up as we thought of them - “real” crockery, ziplocs etc. Some things we have brought from home - laundry sheets, umbrella and so on.
We have a core of things that are always useful, but often add or take things out as our needs change. We also buy gift cards to leave in the OL as a surprise next time we visit!

I have yet to find anything that I want to keep in an owner's locker. I just pack what I need and maybe get a grocery delivery upon arrival and I'm good. I know some have much longer stays and I can see the utility there.
We’ve had our ownerlockers for at least 10 years if not longer and have 2 of them. We fly and generally stay 8 nights. For us, it’s less about not having to check luggage but more about comfort items.

We do keep 1.75L bottles of alcohol in them but most of the stuff is to make the trip more relaxing and feel more homey. We have a nespresso coffee maker, special mugs, special cocktail glasses, special wine glasses plus a DVC pool bag. I also keep a beachclub bathrobe in there along with throw blankets for the room and a special Poly resort sweatshirt for exclusive vacation use. We also have DVC polos and DVC pull overs in there along with spare magic bands and chargers. We also keep dishwasher and laundry pods along with our own laundry basket (spouse is creeped out by using the ones in the room). Also, we store upgraded kitchen items - citrus squeezer, mini pepper grinder, ice bucket (see comment re laundry baskets), paring knife, cutting board etc.
