What a disaster!!

Hello again,

I love your tr/story.. however for fear of being beat up...my wife and I have been waiting forever for the continuation of your story.. You are courteous to respond to everyone.. but everytime we log on we are hoping for "the rest of the story".. let hear it!!:scared1:
Work has a lot of issue to deal with. :headache: By the time I got home, I have very little time to do anything. :hourglass I promise...I will post an update this evening. I need 36 hours per day. 24 is just not enough. :p

QUOTE: DIAL-UP. How can you surf this site with a dial-up?? That's insane. How can you have DSL and not using it while paying the fee in the mean time?? You DH need to get with the program and get you hook up soon. I am the master of procrastinator. It took me 25 years to apply for my U.S. citizenship. And it took me another 3 years to finish our dining room. Right now, it has been 12 years and I still haven't even begin to work on my den yet. Boxes still sitting in the room from the day we moved in. I know how your DH feels.

I mostly surf this site from work, which is going to get me in SO MUCH trouble one of these days. I am hopelessly hooked! And it is super fast here, too! At home, it is tolerable, so long as I don't want to look at anyone's pictures or download anything. I don't even bother looking at your TR at home because it takes sooooooo looooong to see any of your photos. :sad2:
As far as paying for DSL, we bundled our phone, internet and satellite, so we're actually getting everything CHEAPER than we were before the upgrades. Yay, us!!!! :thumbsup2

I LOL at your description of procrastination. Yes, you and my DH would get along just fine!!! You crack me up, TD. :rotfl:

between yesterday and today, I've been reading your TR, and the only thing I can say is WOW!!!! Your pictures are awesome!!! Sorry to hear about your wallet, it's hard, cause there aren't too many honest people out there...hopefully someone turned it in, but at that place, not holding my breath!! I did have a few questions on the photography, my DH has a nikon D40X, and I have a Fujifilm 20z and I'm playing with the settings, but can't seem to make the pictures seem not grainy. Dh's camera does good, but mine always come out grainy. Am I doing something wrong? I've been playing around with the settings, and some come out, some don't. DH operates his in full Auto all the time, I KNOW that camera has more potential, but how? is there any way to help with some settings on that one, or on mine? We're staying at FW next month, and would LOVE to have some shots like yours to come home with!! Thanks!!!! Anxiously awaiting the next "disaster"!! LOL popcorn::

Heya topdog,

Just wanted to come out of lurker mode to say hey. :wave2:

Reading through this thread has inspired me to get more "serious" about my photography, which up till now consists of decent point-and-shoot snaps, but nothing great. I always seem to miss the great night shots, or get blurry "boy that shot would've been great" moments. No more! I will master this camera.

I am on a mission!

Keep up the great work, and I am looking forward to finding out what happened next.

Can't wait to hear the next installment!

I just ordered my first prime wide angle lens and hood - I am excited to use it in just a few days!!!

Do you run your photos through a noise-ware program before posting them? Just curious!

So glad you can join us for the ride. Some how I do have to agree with you about the honest people assumption. However, at Disney...anything can happen.

D40X is an excellent camera for low light shooting. It's one of the better consumer class DSLR camera. Reason why your FujiFilm 20z came out grainy is because in low light condition, these type of camera sensor needs a fair amount of light to create a good clear image. Your camera is only for general purpose all around shooting only. Every time when you are in a low light condition, your picture will either get very noisy (or grainy) and blurry. That's unavoidable. High end DSLR sensor have a much better sensor, therefore it can take better sharper picture under those condition.

You shouldn't shoot the DX40 in Auto mode. It's like driving a sports car on cruise control. Switch the camera to either Shutter priority or Aperture priority. Change the shutter speed or aperture to experiment what suits you. That is no one set formula to shoot good picture. You have to feel the camera and keep changing different setting. Once you shoot enough, you will know what need to change in order to get a good shot. This kind of experience takes time. Just be patience. The good side is if you don't like the picture, you can always deleted with no cost. Can't get better than that.

Just go out and practice practice and practice. The more you shoot and keep changing the setting, the more you will know what to do and get a better understand how the camera react. One last thing try to keep your ISO setting at 200 and below. Higher the ISO create more noisy picture especially in low light.

Welcome lurker!!! I like lurker coming out. Glad you can join us on the ride.

I am also glad you get more "serious" with your photography. P&S is fine. Practice is the only way how to improve your technique. Keep me update how's the progress. Please feel free to post any camera question here or PM me would be fine too.

I love prime glass. It's light and it's sharp but don't have the flexibility like the zoom. How wide and what's the aperture??

No, I don't use any noise-ware program nor I have one. I set my ISO no higher than 200 to keep the noise to a minimum. However, I do shoot in RAW format so I can adjust some of the depth level and color level.
So it's officially 'tomorrow evening' and we dont' have an update....
I had a very long day at work. By the time I got home, I still have to have dinner before I can play.

On that note, I am posting the next update now. So stay tune...

Day 6 (Friday) Part 2

So we left Kona Cafe and took the monorail to TTC then transfer to another monorail to EPCOT. Within no time, we arrived EPCOT. One thing I still haven't got use to is how the monorail goes thru EPCOT before it stop so you can have a birds eye view of the park before getting off. It was a very unusal experience. Anyway, once we got off the monorail, it was almost 11:00am. So we stop by the guest relation and see if they can help me with the wallet situation.

Once we walked in to the guest relation, a very nice CM greeted us with a smile. We told him what happened last night and some one from WL already tried to do something this morning. And we were wondering if he can do something to find out if L&F has the wallet or not. So the CM did basically the same thing what the CM did at WL. He answer all the question L&F asked him. He gave them the description of my wallet and content of the wallet as well. After spending 30 minutes on the phone, we still come out empty hand. The CM told us just keep calling and see something will turn out. All I can say is the CMs has certainly done everything in their power to help me. I really can't blame them for not trying. I am not too worry about the money or the Disney gift card at this point. I am just a little concern with my credit card since I have no information with me to call in for the lost. Since there is nothing we can do and we'll just have to move ahead with a positive mind thinking.

After we came out of guest relation and not knowing what we want to do next. We just walked toward the center of the park. As soon as we walked pass by Test Track, we notice the crowd was huge. Stand by wait time was like 60 minutes or some thing like that.

_DIS6313.jpg

For some reason, we didn't even thought about getting a FP and just walked away. We then decided to stopped over and check out Mission: Space. This one has only about 15 minutes way so we walked right in. Hardly anyone at the entrance.

_DIS6316.jpg

Of course, we have to ride the Orange team, the more intense training. After all, "We feel the need...the need...for speed." Here is my ticket to proof it.

DSCN1382.jpg

Once we got inside, the queue wasn't bad. It had a little crowd and we did have to stop and wait for a few. So I took the opportunity to grabbed a few frames at the queueing area. Actually, it was kinda cool to be able to see the surrounding area instead of constant moving.

_DIS6340.jpg

It was quite nice to slow down a little bit because by now, bottom of my left foot starting to felt a little pokey. (Hint! Hint!) The M: S ride was awesome. Even though we rode this on our last trip, but this is the first time I actually paid attention to see how the ride work. Basically, we were sitting in a module that spins in such high speed in order to create the G-force. Very much like how NASA trained their astronauts. That's how you get the pressure feeling when you think the rocket was launching.

By the time we got off the ride, I was a little light headed walking out. Nothing major but DW was jumping up and down screaming how fun the ride was. I might be getting too old for this. Ha! Ha! NOT!

After that, I need something a little milder so we stop over to The Seas with Nemo & Friends.

_DIS6347.jpg

_DIS6349.jpg

Last time we were here, this section was closed for construction. I was very disappointed then because one of my to do list then was to swim with the dolphins. We were on premium package last trip so that would've been included with the package. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me and I end up doing the parasailing at the Seven Seas Lagoon 3 times.

Waiting time at The Seas with Nemo & Friends was about the same as MTM, not too bad. The ride itself was pretty cool too. It was a good change of pace. Then we finished the ride, I was completely mesmerized by all the fish they had in the tanks.

Hay!!! I think I found Nemo.
_DIS6405.jpg

These fish tanks were very hard to photograph because of the low light and the fish were constantly moving. Forget about using a flash, then all you get is one big bright reflection from the glass and the water. Out of the 50 or 60 some odd frames, other than the Nemo one, this is the only one that look somewhat decent. I got to figure out another way to do a better job.

_DIS6432.jpg

Until DW tapped my shoulder to paid more attention to the big tank where the dolphins were swimming. I couldn't stop starring at those little guys. I've been wanted to swim with dolphins for the longest time. Even though I couldn't do it this time but at least I get to watch them. DW has to peeled me off away from the tank. We then went to watch the manatees training presentation. I love those marine life. For some reason, I grew up from a small tropical island. Live around ocean and beaches when I was a kid. I end up not liking hot weather climate and would rather live in sub-zero weather. However, once I saw the marine life, I just want to jump into the water and swim next to them. Weird?! Huh?!?!

One thing I did missed was the Turtle Talk with Crush show. I heard so much about it but didn't realize it was in this complex.

After we got out of the Nemo area, it was about 12:45pm and we have ADR at Coral Reef at 1:40pm. So we swing over to the globe and took a ride of the Spaceship Earth. There was no waiting time. We walked in and hopped on the cart right away. Once the ride began, I then realize this ride has been updated because I notice the LCD screen on the cart. It was very cool how they personalize your future lifestyle and create a little presentation just for you base on how you answer the questions.

By the time we got out of the Spaceship Earth, it's already past 1:00pm. So we began to walk towards Coral Reef. Temperature was getting too warm to my liking. I can feel my arms already got a little sun tan and I can't tolerate heat that well. At least the air was dry and very little humidity so I can breath a little easier. I found a little shaded area to sit down right outside the restaurant. DW went in to get the pager while I sat outside enjoying the warm temperature that I can still tolerate. But I was a little bored so I want to do some experiment with the monorail when I saw it pass me by a few times. The track was right above from where I sat.

_DIS6498.jpg

I set my camera to high frame shooting rate so I can chase the monorail with my camera and take multiple frames as the monorail moved down the track. Very much like how I chased and photograph the fighter jet at the air show. The result is to capture a sequence still frames of the moving monorail and then to create a small animated file that looks almost like video. If you have paid attention on my signature for the past few weeks, you would've notice I posted the end result a little while ago. I thought it was pretty cool. If you haven't done so, then go check out my signature.

Here are a few of the still frames of the monorail.

:yay: Update! You're braver than me getting ono the orange side. No thanks. :lmao: Do tell me more about the premium package though. Did you do a trip report from that trip? I would love to read all about it! If my kids were older I'd so do it. Right now they can't do most of the cool stuff that's included. Still no luck with the wallet...I hope this changes soon.

We did the premium package trip on 2005 Sep for 10 days at WL. Basically the package at the time includes magical express, hopper pass, DxDP, most of the park tours, unlimited golfing, all the resort activities like parasailing (no limit also) and rental plus many many other stuff that's I don't even know what they are. Although I think Disney has changed some of the offering in their premium package now. Top of the line package now is called platinum package.

I wish I can do a trip report on that but it was way too long for me to remember all the detail on that trip. I am not a 20 something any more.

DW love the Christmas bear so much and she name him "Ted". Ted might not be a great present but for some reason DW thought it's the best present she has ever gotten. Then Ted became a fixture in our apartment ever since. Even after we put away all the Christmas decoration, Ted always stay out no matter what. Wherever we travel, Ted travel with us as well even today. DW will not leave Ted behind. He basically became our mascot. I have quite a few pictures that proved Ted did travel with us. It's kind of remind me the AT&T commercial they are showing now with the stuff monkey.[/QUOTE]

You have inspired us to bring OUR mascot, Barbara Manatee, on our next Disney trip in September! Love your TR, it has brought tears to my eyes. You rock! :cool2:

Thank you for another great TR. The pictures are amazing. I'm sorry about your wallet:sad2::sad2::sad2: My husband would be beside himself.

Ohhh a hint I wonder what it could be???? Love the updates and pictures. Still hoping for good things in regards to the wallet.

Thanks! It's a 24mm 2.8. I have the kit lens that came with my camera that is 18-55 but have never really cared much for it. I also have my 50 mm 1.4 that is my standard lens, but I found that it was too close for some shots that I wanted to get, especially at character meals with not much room to back up.

Maybe I'll try shooting in RAW - I've never done it. Maybe I'll practice for a couple days first. I do have PSCS4 as well and I'm decent at using it - and I'm decent at taking pics. But with 4 little ones, I don't get the practice that I used to. They HATE having their pictures taken so they are not good practice material. :rotfl:

Thanks. I was doing everything I can not to let it bother me at the time and it wasn't easy.
Came over to see this eating! Up
:yay: You made it. Enjoy! Enjoy!! Now you better get busy on your wedding. :goodvibes
Ohhh a hint I wonder what it could be???? Love the updates and pictures. Still hoping for good things in regards to the wallet.
Thanks for the good thought.
Woohoo, an update!! :cheer2:
Enjoy!!

You are correct. I often use my 35mm more than the 50mm. A 24mm will definitely give you more "space" and 2.8 is plenty fast too. I wish they would still make 1.4 or 1.8 on those lenses but then it will get very pricey. Just be prepare, you will need a larger memory card to shoot RAW. I usually use at least a 4 GB and a couple of 8 GB card for my camera. Average file size for my RAW file is around 8 -10 meg per file in compress format. Non compress format will turn into whopping 16 meg per file easily.

Yeah, we got to read more . Still no wallet *sigh*, hopefully it finds its way home. We have not done Mission Space NOR have we done the Nemo/Turtle Talk. The Nemo/Turtle Talk are on our itenerary for our upcoming trip. I think DDs (10 & 8) will love it. Can't wait to read more.

How many pics do you think will fit on an 8 gb card? Just curious. I need to get a few cards for the kids' cameras and was thinking about updating mine as well. 2 gb is as big as I've got right now. Thanks for all the help!

Then you need light a fire under your DH's behind to hurry up.

I wonder how he'd feel if I just suddenly started procrastinating on cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc... Bet my behind would be smokin!!!! :rotfl:

Oh, and I just adore your photos. They practically jump off the screen, they're so clear. You are quite the talent. So sorry you haven't found your wallet yet. I'm guessing the next disaster is your foot? (I know! I'll have to stay tuned, but don't worry, I wouldn't miss the ending of this TR for anything!)
