What’s next for the Epcot area?

With the Poly Tower and GF2 in full swing, the Magic Kingdom and monorail loop are well taken care of. Do you see anything coming to Epcot?

1. I want Yacht Club or BCV2 so bad. BWV2 would also be awesome!
2. Do you see more skyliner resorts to Epcot and HS?
3. Is there realistically any Epcot area real estate to even consider something aside from a conversion of an existing resort or a skyliner option?

I feel like we are onto Fort Wilderness, and the Epcot and HS area isn’t getting anything. Those are my favorite parks! Thoughts?

I could see a second tower for RIV in one of the CBR locations. But, given that bath BWV and BCV expire in 2042, I don’t see anything else in that area.
Not sure about any other spots.

I don’t see anymore on the Skyliner. They would need to spend huge $$$ and shut it down for a long time to make more stops. They are still selling RIV and they will be for some time. There is a possibility of a hotel at the entrance of Epcot. There have been some permits recently.

That’s where I want to be! It just sucks that all the Crescent Lake resorts are 2042 expirations. God willing, we plan to do DVC for 40 more years based on our age.

I have no idea what they might do, but if it was up to me - Yacht Club! That was our favorite resort before buying into DVC. We just love that area so much. I can't justify the 2042 expiration to buy BCV or BWV and Riv is fine but it's no comparison to the actual Crescent Lake resorts when it comes to location ( feet >>> any form of Disney transportation IMHO). Come on, DVC make it happen - take my money :flower: .

Shut it down for what? The current skyliner wouldnt stop running they would just add new stations/lines......

What Disney needs to do though is put on big people pants and start running the skyliner through small storms. These things can run through typhoons in Asia by the same company but a tiny lightning strike by itself shuts the whole thing down.....

Wish they would:
  • Add entrance in africa pavilion
  • Add walkway/bridge from Riviera
  • Tear down Caribbean Beach NorthWest for an Alps themed area
  • Slowly tear down CBR until its all flipped to a European theme
  • Switch a building at AOA or POP into a "cheap" DVC that is slightly less expensive than AKV Value rooms

I predict they will use the land around the current GSC to build a HS area resort tower. They could connect it via skyliner, making HS as a second hub without much effort.

That’s my situation too! I can’t justify 2042. Fortunately, I love Riviera, but for different reasons than BCV or BWV. Right now, Riviera is the only Epcot area resort that makes sense direct or resale to me. I just wish they’d address that with some options the way they did the MK area resorts. It’d be awesome!

I have been thinking of this, too. We own Riviera and love it, but an actual resort IN Epcot would be amazing. I like the idea of a resort on/near HS! Honestly never thought of it.

Once upon a time (pre-Covid) there were plans for a non-DVC resort near the Epcot main entrance. If that is resurrected I could see it being a DVC resort.

I mentioned in another thread the idea of running a train from HS to AK. There is room and when you look at the maps they are fairly close to each other.
I would love a train! Heck, I'd love anything directly connecting AK/AKJ/AKK to other transportation.

Epcot entrance resort has been rumored for a while. That might be an option that would have a lot of appeal. However, no walking access to HS.

AK/AKJ/AKK

Those resorts are not being connected. If they are then I suspect you will see the threads popup on here on how much more expensive their AK MFs are now that they are footing for the expansion of this train they didn't want anyways.

Even before VGF2 and Poly2 were available for direct purchase, there were still plenty of good resale options available in the MK area - BLT, PVB, VGF1. These all had 40 plus years left on them.

For Epcot, you only had the 2042 resorts - BCV and BWV. If I were 20 years older, I would consider them. However, my wife and I are in our early 40s, so we are looking for 35+ years of value left. We bought RIV partially because it gave us good Epcot and HS access. Like people have said, it’s just not the same as being at the entrance.

What are the chances that Disney will extend the contracts for BCV? I know they did it for OKW. Really want to keep the place for the family. And if they don't cannot imagine what the value would end up being.

My personal opinion is that the chances of Disney extending any more contracts is nil. The OKW extension was a mess, and I don't think they want to go through that again. I also think that they've realized they can let the current contracts expire, then renovate/rebuild the resorts and sell them as new with much higher points charts. Maybe they'll give current owners a discount on buying into the new resort.

If they don't extend, then on February 1, 2042, the value of the BCV contracts is $0.00 - but hopefully your family will have gotten a lot of value out of using them!

I would guess probably low, but I’d buy a BCV contract in a second, even with raised point charts (like a second villa), if it ever became available. Same with Yacht Club. I love that area.

IMO, 0%. it makes no sense for them to do that since selling as new allows them to redo the point charts so they are more in line with today.s cash prices, as well as add resale restrictions

Why was the extension a mess?
