What’s for dinner?

I just buy them, leidenheimer is the brand...my favorite po-boy bread, but I like using the pistolettes since they are a good size.

Or the roast? Just the three packets (sometimes I've seen double of one of them, which I used to do, but made it one less to help reduce the sodium a bit) -au jus, italian dressing, and ranch dressing, plus 1/4-1/2 water. Crock pot all day. so easy and all the boys love it.
Thanks for the roast recipe. That sounds good. I was referring to the pistolettes. That must be a regional thing. I don't think we have them here, but I'll look for them.

definitely a regional thing...just outside new orleans...but I think if you use crusty dinner rolls from pepperidge farms or something similar, it would be good too

So, it's basically a crusty roll? I can find that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Two supermarkets and couldn’t find what was needed to make the salmon which was excruciatingly annoying. Some days I wish I was still in Manhattan 🤐.

Yes well pigs weren’t flying, so having wasted too much time at the markets I made the easiest dinner I could think of with what was already on hand: burgers.

It was a build your own day so put out avocado slices, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, sliced tomatoes, lettuce leaves, and various pickled vegetables on a plate. Toasted a Kaiser roll, rubbed a fresh garlic clove onto the bread for DGD and a naked burger on cottage cheese for me. Both of us had chocolate milkshakes to drink/dessert.

Thursday was salmon, sweet potatoes, and zucchini (topped with Parmesan).

Yesterday was ribeye street tacos topped with cilantro, onion, and avocado. Also made guacamole for DH (to use extra avocados) and more warm corn salad. For dessert, DD baked us homemade Godiva chocolate chip cookies.

Since it took until yesterday afternoon to get the “mystery ingredient“ for the salmon (puhleese!), we had porchetta with grilled veggies on focaccia bread and a green salad last night. Finished off the clafoutis for dessert.

Tonight, finally, made the miso (miso paste was the “cant find ingredient “) and maple syrup glazed salmon and served it with brown rice and fresh spinach steamed on top. Then the following happened:

DGD: (playing with her side) “The rice tastes weird (at least it’s not gross or yucky, I thought to myself). How did you make it?”

Me: “I toasted the spinach and then added a pinch of chocolate sauce to it.”

A few seconds go by and she asked if I’m being sarcastic again.

Ohmigosh she’s finally “getting” me and welcome to the family!🤷🏾‍♂️..

Err it did not escape my notice that most of the rice went into the fridge minus the spinach. I might of been crushed if she dinna eat the salmon but she did 💕.
She ate two peaches for dessert.

I love your sense of humor.

Last night was grilled chicken on salad w/ garlic bread. DH had Caesar salad. I had mixed greens, beets, mandarin oranges, goat cheese & honey roasted pecans w/ balsamic vinaigrette, which is my favorite salad.

Tonight is burgers & some type of fries. We have regular, seasoned & sweet potato fries. I haven't decided what I'm making yet.

That's good thinking. Go to burgers and fries to detox from those nasty beets.

pork ribs.....bottom of the freezer...heavy duty bottles of spices and oils see what happens.
If you can identify it and it is not trying to crawl away, it must still be good.

Last night was chicken piccata (LOVE capers!!), creamed potatoes with garlic, asparagus and a spinach and mushroom salad DH likes. We’re on the road today so all our meals will be some version of gross and yucky ;) fast food.

Turkey breast tenderloin, mashed taters, stuffing and peas. Need cranberry.....
GMTA, smile.
Just made DGD a hot open faced turkey sandwich for lunch and felt like cranberries were missing as well. There are some in the freezer but one sandwich was just not necessary to make it. Used lingonberry instead straight from IKEA.
