What’s for dinner?

One of the man’s favorite meals was on the table tonight: Asian brined pork tenderloin, sweet potato mash and sautéed spiced pears. OK hé liked apples instead of pears but that’s the fruit that looked nicest at the market. Sorry he missed it.
Dessert was a crème brûlée for DGG. I’m trying to hold off the sweetie until breakfast.

Just a heads up, rhubarb is in the produce aisle now so something delicious to think of.

I really enjoy reading your posts. Do you offer cooking classes? DD’s art mentor cooks like you (she is also well traveled, which I am guessing you are too ;)). Everything is fresh and from scratch. We love attending her classes!

Crickets!

Last night I had crickets with my dinner. I'm in Phoenix, visiting my dad for his 70th birthday, and we went to a sort of hipstery Mexican (or mostly Mexican) restaurant. They had a chili-garlic cricket appetizer, and my dad ordered it, so I tried a few. The predominant flavor was the seasoning — I don't even know what they taste like under all that chili powder, garlic powder, and salt — and the texture was crunchy, but with a very thin consistency, like the outer coating of deep-fried food. It wasn't bad, though I probably won't put any effort into seeking them out again. Being able to say I ate them once was enough.

For my main, I had soy chorizo vegan street tacos with tofu, hummus, and a couple of housemade hot sauces. Mango mojito to drink.

Grilled chicken w/a large salad & garlic bread. DH likes mostly vegetables & cheese on his salads. I constantly change mine up. Tonight I'm having mixed greens, mandarin oranges, beets, goat cheese & candied nuts w/ balsamic vinaigrette.

CPK salads tonight. BBQ a chicken for me, Greek for hubs.

Tonight we are having grilled steak, salad, broccoli, potatoes and left over Cole slaw. Homemade rice pudding for dessert.

Hmmm...it seems somebody ate allllllll the ramen noodles for a snack which is creating a hole in tonight’s dinner. I thought we were having pork and chive wontons, bok choy, and noodle soup but guess not. Now it’s wonton in a spicy peanut sauce, veggie fried rice, and a bowl of silken tofu and spinach in broth.
Lots of dishes to wash now but that’s not my job so what do I care? Oops, LOL.

Salmon cakes with roasted squash and red potatoes, week 2 of whole 30 and would rather be eating pizza.

I’m not capable of allowing people to cook in my kitchen or with me. I mumble, talk to myself, curse in my head (yeah but it shows on my face) and assume that others are mind readers 😂. I do however love having company for meals, LOL.

Roasted salmon, rice pilaf and asparagus. I'll do up a packaged hollandaise sauce spiked up with garlic butter and lemon juice and use it for both the salmon and asparagus. Or I'll just sit here on the couch and keep eating this bag of All Dressed Crispers until I'm not hungry anymore and lose all interest in cooking supper. DH and DS can maybe scrounge for a sandwich. We shall see. :rotfl:

There was no veggie fried rice last night because the “carb monster” discovered them too 🤷‍♂️.
Went to the market early this morning and bought fresh produce and noodles for tonight’s meal and hid it all the way in the back of the fridge where she’ll never find it 😉.
