What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Got outta Dodge today and visited MoMa with a former nabe.
Wonderful Matisse exhibit that concentrated on his later works.

Ate an ahmazing prix fixe lunch at The Modern, a restaurant on the premises.
Now that was a meal worth stepping out the house fo
r! I had a scallop and octopus appetizer, followed by striped bass with vichyssoise agnolotti and black olive oil (just no way to abbreviate that beauty’s description, oh be still my beating ❤️ and worth every potato eaten, lol). Couldn’t eat my dessert so they boxed it for me.

Boneless chicken breasts rolled and stuffed with broccoli and cheddar, rice pilaf, and peas. Chicken and peas both came from the freezer.

After my freezer clean out yesterday today I organized it. It looks so much better and I can tell what’s left (a lot of bacon 🤷‍♀️) Maybe I’ll tackle cleaning and organizing the one on the fridge next.

My aunt is taking over the cooking duties tonight (we usually don't eat until after 8 p.m. when she cooks) and making chicken and dumplings. Sounds delicious, in reality balls of heavy dough in weak chicken broth. It's terrible. But we love her so nobody wants to tell her so we eat big heaping bowls of it.

WDW and I battled today and both of us won and lost, lol.
Came up with the brilliant idea of paying for my hotel stay via discounted Disney gift cards but unfortunately for some of the cards, couldn’t read the code (scratch-off is NOT my friend). So long story short used my credit card to payoff the remaining balance and I can switch the payment method when I get to FL. Too bad nobody thought up that solution this morning :sad2:

Finishing off the chicken soup I made earlier this week and eating my bread pudding from yesterday.

Thank you @LoveDaisy for the champagne tip!
They didn’t have half bottles at the LI vineyard but think I’ll enjoy their 2018 vintage.

French toast with real maple syrup.

That sounds so so so good right now.

I love French toast, but it has to be made exactly right and not too eggy or soggy. I rarely order it out because I'm so picky about it. I make it sometimes, but even though it seems so simple, I can mess it up and not get it how I like it. Really my mom is the only one that makes it reliably how I like it. :)

We're waiting on pizza delivery from Mellow Mushroom. Friday is our usual pizza night, usually delivery but sometimes homemade, and we splurged on one we don't normally order in because we're decorating the tree after we eat. We ordered way more than we need because of not agreeing on which kinds, and should make several days of leftover lunches.

I finally started my Christmas cookies. I made, baked, and frozen double batch of chocolate chip cookies. I have thumbprint dough chilling in the fridge and will bake that in the morning. Let the baking madness begin!

I made fish and chips tonight. The local fish place had black fish which I couldn’t resist.

Mine was just like that...and I use REAL butter too! As a kid, we tapped our 200 year old sugar maple, so no fake syrup for us.

I have a beef roast and veggies in the crock pot, but I'm really thinking of having french toast again tonight. DH can have his meat and potatoes LOL!!

Yum, yum!!

:rolleyes1
