Day 4) the end…..

Is that Tigger?

Ok now I have to admit a couple days ago when I was re-reading my list of tag-lines and sneak-peeks for the TR…I couldn’t remember for the life of me…what this meant….w/out reading thu my notes…I figured it would come to me sooner or later and it did….

So, we decided we wanted to stick it out and try and see F!...DH and My Mom really wanted to too…we hoped a long break in a quite area would calm Michael’s mood after the over stimulation of our character explosion. So everyone but Aldine & I headed over to the ABC comm. To sit and rest and take a break, while she & I waited to do the Drawing Academy…it wasn’t a super long wait which was nice and Aldine, I know looked at some CM’s pin lanyard, but I can’t recall if she actually traded or not…

This is a first for both of us, so I wasn’t sure what to expect…Aldine was hoping she could draw any character she wanted….

Well they let us in the drawing room, :artist: which is a very cool set-up, and the CM-animator was up front welcoming us. You could tell that some people would come and draw several times a day or were just extremely good at this …and then there was this group of adults, behind us, that were just giggling and laughing in their lack of drawing talent…that it really began to bother me. :headache: It was (I’m sorry) like a group of drunk people back there….it was annoying for the serious drawers and for those like Aldine & who were trying to capture the magic of the moment and not to mention the animator guy… :snooty:

The character we got to draw was Tigger… :tigger:

Pretty cool!

We both did, well…..OK

for our 1st attempt. It was a very cool process to watch him draw each detail and the way you would form this ever fun and familiar Disney face out of ovals and circles….but next time I’m going to bring an eraser :rolleyes1.

Despite my better judgment here are our drawings:

mine:

Aldine's:
100_3445.jpg

Hence my tag line for this post

So we took our fun and unique souvenirs and headed out. But first a little shopping was to be done by this mother and daughter duo!

The Animation Store was first…I love looking around in here…it’s more “window shopping” than anything, but I did come away w/ two 8 x 11 prints

A princess one for the girls’ room, their room is in that theme:

100_3442.jpg

And a beachy print for our screened in porch:

100_3443.jpg

(I framed them)

Then we went back to that store on the other side of the courtyard and Aldine picked out this Eyeore plush keychain and paid w/ her own $

100_2952.jpg

and I tried hard to get hold of Matt on the cell phone to ask if he wanted that Mickey/Walt shirt, but we had terrible reception

It was like that Verizon commercial….”Can you hear me know?”

I never did figure out if he wanted it or not, so I decided what the heck I’ll get it for him…over the yrs he rarely ever buys anything for himself…and I thought it was cool.

100_2973.jpg

When I later caught up w/ him and told him I bought the shirt, he was reluctant thinking he didn’t want it after all, cause it was white and I said well we can return it at the resort gift shop. But he ended up deciding to keep it and we took it home and he wears it quite a bit, so it was a good buy…till he practically chopped his finger off one evening (I wasn’t home) and got blood splatter on it…he said he thought of CSI…luckily it was just a few drops and you can’t see it all that much.

So anyways, now our shopping was done and we headed leisurely over to the ABC comm to meet up w/ everyone. When we got there, most had just ordered their food, so Aldine and I went up and got the rest of our food. I can’t remember what everyone got, but I know I got the Ugly Betty burger! My only burger order of the whole trip…and it was a little ugly (in taste that is)

The resting report was good, and the troops were ready to move on to the last part of our night and see F!

As we were wrapping up eating and getting ready to leave, I noticed a group of HS kids and swore I recognized one of them; sure enough it was our sitter from home. Her HS performance band from Wheaton-Warrenville South HS was performing the next morning at DTD and her and some friends happen to be eating at the ABC comm… very cool.

We said “hi” and chatted a few minutes, then I took her, Aldine, and Mae back out near the big hat and took a couple pictures.

When we got back, we packed up to go, but first I needed to get some soymilk for Margaret and knew even though it wasn’t actually on the menu, they did have it here. Thinking it would take all of 5 minutes to order it, everyone waited outside for me.

I went up and ordered a cup of ice and soymilk. The CM rang it up as a reg milk and then went and told the servers in the back what I actually needed.

So there I am waiting at the counter for a few minutes….when some other CM places a yogurt and a cup near me. Thinking this is for someone else, I cont waiting….

DH comes in and says how much longer?

I have no idea….I try to get a CM’s attention and say “excuse me, I’m waiting for some soymilk and a cup of ice” show my ticket and cont. to wait….

It’s now reaching probably almost 7:30 pm and we needed to get to the other side of the park to get seats for F!...I tell DH to just go and I’ll catch up…it can’t be that much longer.

CAN IT ??????????????????????? :confused3

It was absolutely ridiculous how long this order took….I ask again, some CM who I judged didn’t have the best language skills and I really don’t think she knew what I was asking for, she asks some other CM…he then asks me what do I need?

SOYMILK & A CUP OF ICE !!!!!!!!!!!

“look” I say, “I’ve been waiting now almost 10 minutes and I need this now, can you please check on it.”

I’m getting seriously impatient and mad at this point! I ask again for the 3rd time….and a CM tells me it’s coming…. :furious:

“what from Mars?” I think to myself….

I almost yelled over the serving counter to the back there where I see a manager like person…but restrained myself.

FINALLY after I bet was 20 minutes….the soymilk carton arrives and I don’t even say thank-you. Just take it and my cup of ice and get out of there.

UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! :sad2:

If you are wondering why I needed this soymilk…well Margaret has severe milk intolerances and always has a cup of soymilk at night and this would help ease our waiting time and late night at DHS.

I stop at an outside table and dump some of the ice so I can fit the soymilk box in the cup and then start massive speed walking across the park to catch –up to them.

So would this soymilk disaster ruin our chance to see or get seats for F! How far ahead were they?

I guess only time will tell?

Thanks for reading,

J-

How fun that you and Aldine did the drawing activity together. I offered it up to my boys (Dan especially thinking it was an "older kid" type activity), but they all declined. Oh well! I think you guys did a great job drawing Tigger...way better than I would have! :thumbsup2

I adore that print you had framed for your porch area. How appropriate!

The shirt for Matt is way cute...or not cute...that's not very manly I guess. It's awesome! That's better. I wish I had gone into that store...it looks like they had some unique things.

Sorry about the soy milk incident. How annoying! :headache: I was at DHS on a F! night....I hope you get seats and can enjoy the show despite the soy hold up!

Good job with Tigger....for a first time it was really good! :thumbsup2

OMG with the soymilk!! How long does it take to get a carton of milk from the cooler?? :scared1:

I really hope to make to F! I will be waiting to find out! popcorn::

Sorry about the soy milk incident! :headache:

I love the prints you purchased!! And that's a great shirt too!! I want that one for me!

Your Tiggers came out great! (Don't tell anyone -but we drew Tigger too...:listen:)

I hope you made it to Fantasmic!

By the way - Did you have some bad weather in your area yesterday?

Hey thanks, it was nice and the bonus was we had some time to spend together alone, which can be a challange on a normal day. :goodvibes

I adore that print you had framed for your porch area. How appropriate!

I know I really like it...someday maybe we'll do a cruise too and then every beach bucket would be filled w/ great memories.

The shirt for Matt is way cute...or not cute...that's not very manly I guess. It's awesome! That's better.

;) I was just reading some more of my Walt Disney bio and there is a picture of the actual picture of Walt standing on Main Street in DL...they edited out the street cleaner in the corner.

Sorry about the soy milk incident. How annoying! :headache: I was at DHS on a F! night....I hope you get seats and can enjoy the show despite the soy hold up!

it was annoying...probably the worst moment of the whole trip.

Good job with Tigger....for a first time it was really good! :thumbsup2

By the way - Did you have some bad weather in your area yesterday?

I'm actually up in Sawyer MI right now, (lower west corner on the lake) for a weekend away w/ friends. We had some rain in the area and on the way up...but as far as I know my house is still standing...:scratchin

I think you both did a great job with Tigger!!

You Tigger looks like he could be related to Jay Leno  No serioulsy, good job. And A did a really good job as well.

My DH has the same T-shirt that you picked up for your DH. He was able to find another "manly" Mickey shirt on this last trip too.....you'll see it if I ever get that far in my TR!

The character we got to draw was Tigger… :tigger:

Pretty cool!

You both did wonderfully! :cheer2:

100_2973.jpg

Ooooh, Grumpy would love that shirt! I'll have to keep an eye out for it!

When I later caught up w/ him and told him I bought the shirt, he was reluctant thinking he didn’t want it after all, cause it was white and I said well we can return it at the resort gift shop. I'm glad he decided to keep it! Sorry, but I'm :lmao: about the CSI reference!

FINALLY after I bet was 20 minutes….the soymilk carton arrives and I don’t even say thank-you. Just take it and my cup of ice and get out of there.

UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! :sad2:

Geez, what an ordeal! :headache: I'm glad you finally got it, but totally unnecessary stress there! :sad2:

So would this soymilk disaster ruin our chance to see or get seats for F! How far ahead were they?

I hope you got to see F! popcorn::

Day 4) the end….finally!

pixiedust:
F! fantastic pixiedust:

I finally had Margaret’s soymilk in hand and was on my way to meet up w/ the rest of my family. I basically ran/walked all the way over to the theatre, and was practically exhausted. I called Matt on my Mom’s cell (since I couldn’t get thru on his) to see where they were as I approached the theatre’s entrance, and apparently they had not gotten that far ahead of me and were near the stroller parking. They waited for me at the entrance as I made my way up thru the crowds and wondered just how crowded it would be…

We used some assistance to get seated near an exit area and top rows…the CM’s retrieved a manager for us to help us out and he tried to get us near the top rows in the main area but he couldn’t quite find a spot. He then said we could sit in the preferred area anywhere we could find a spot…so we thought we could sit in one of the handicapped rows, but a CM booted us so we looked again and found a decent row and began to save some spots, as I was trying to keep Michael on the end, another family scooted ahead of me. I was trying to say “um the rest of my family is filing in here...see” I got a nasty look and a comment there is not enough room, we were here first….uh no!

We tried again for the 3rd time and found a decent spot about 10-15 rows down in the 2nd section from the right and was able to have Michael on the end of our row. The wait wasn’t horrible…as we kinda got there a little late, but it all worked out. It was a nice evening weather wise too…all that rain from the morning and early afternoon had cleared out, not to cool just right in temp. I used the towel from Margaret’s stroller to sit on top of the bench…good tip, I may have read that somewhere here on the boards.

While we were waiting, Michael and I played one round of UNO which I brought from the resort (home) and then Matt and Aldine played a round too.

100_2424.jpg

It started to get dark now and we opened up a tube of glow bracelets and Matt worked on getting them all ready, after divvying out several to our kids we shared some magic and gave the rest to some children sitting around us…one little boy behind us didn’t know what we were giving him and we had to assure him (and his parents) that it was OK.

100_2421.jpg

100_2426.jpg

100_2427.jpg

As well the crowd got into the waiting game of doing the WAVE…which we enjoyed participating in as well. That lasted several minutes of back and forth. Then Michael had to use the restroom, so I took him and we received our restroom passes from the CM monitoring the entrance…kinda felt like we were in school, but I understand why they do it!

The show was great well worth the wait and struggle of finding a row to accommodate us. Though I would hopefully try to get there even earlier…I don’t know exactly what time we got into the theater seating area…but I’m sure it was under the 45 minute mark.

100_2430.jpg

100_2431.jpg

100_2432.jpg

100_2434.jpg

100_2441.jpg

100_2443.jpg

100_2446.jpg

When the show was over everyone starting heading out like herds of cattle, you kinda just had to go w/ the flow. I told Mae to stay was parents and told them if we get separated don’t worry…just head to the bus stop and meet back at the resort.

DH got the stroller and we safely had Margaret in it and Aldine stayed w/ them and the stroller as I walked ahead w/ Michael to try and push past some of the major crowds.

We walked w/ everyone down that back path that led you back into the park near like SRC and the Villain’s shop. We did all get separated, but I found DH and the girls, as Michal and I waited along the curb. We decided to take our time know getting out of the park…thinking my parents would just head back to CSR on their own.

So we went in a few shops and looked around, but got separated again...DH thought I went out, but was inside w/ the twins, where Michael bought a Villain book w/ some of his $

100_2956.jpg

And then they both pin traded w/ the CM at that counter. DH was a bit annoyed when we re-found each other…he wanted to look around too…whoops!

We then made our way to the exit, but first I said wait let’s stop and take a picture here as there was a photo-pass guy, we didn’t get a picture before earlier w/ the rain…too bad not everyone was w/ us. Margaret had already fallen asleep in the stroller…so here it is:

Image123.jpg

We got over to the bus stop and to our surprise, my parents and Mae were waiting for us…I guess they didn’t realize I said just go ahead…a bus had already come by but they didn’t get on. But luck for us…another was pulling right up as we were walking to the line and got right on and it wasn’t very crowded at all, so we all had seats…nice.

In the end I recall the crowd and getting out of the park, wasn’t as bad as I had imagined it would be which was a nice surprise…so I don’t know if the early rain had scared off people but it was a great end to our long, but fun DHS day and I would so stay to see F! again!!!

We got back to our rooms and got everyone in bed I assume and just about everyone went to bed…except my dear sweat husband. He left the room (this I actually wrote down) around 10:40 pm to do our accumulated laundry from the trip so far. And he didn’t get back till about 1:18 am…I know because I woke up when he got back to the room). Before we even left on the trip, DH offered to do the laundry for me this time one night and he’d just play games and watch a movie on his laptop.

It was such a wonderful offer and it was nice to have it done.

So that’s the end of our 4th day at WDW….4 down, 4 to go!

The positives and great magical moments of today were:

* Enjoying TSM again!

* Seeing and experiencing Walt’s Vision

* Our Character Fun w/ Mickey and more

* F!

The negatives or downsides were:

* the rain at first

* missing out on HSM pep rally again for Aldine

* waiting forever on the soymilk

Up NEXT: Day 5) let’s go shopping!

Thanks for reading,

J-

Fantasmic! is such a GREAT show! I'm so glad you were able to stay and enjoy it! That was great that you were only there 45 minutes early and got seats! (We weren't nearly as lucky as you'll hear about coming up in my TR. :sad2:)

What a great DH to take one for the team and do the laundry!

It's so fun to have the glow bracelets isn't it! I highly recommend it to anyone heading to WDW...it's a great way to share the magic and save some money on those expensive light-up toys the vendors sell.

Oooohh...shopping! Can't wait to hear about your next day!

What a relief that you got seats all together!! I like the ones up at the top, too. Better view, IMO. Plus, you don't get hit with any water spray!

('m sure you'd had enough of that already with all that rain!)

Getting out of there is always a bit daunting....

Wow... halfway through the trip already!!

Kathy

Hey Scrappie!
I am so glad that you guys got to see F!, what a wonderful day...except for the soymilk that is! I am debating on whether or not to try and see it for our upcoming trip. My plan was to only do a ,1/2 day in DHS...not sure on that though. I can't believe that we are 1/2 way through this trip already?!? I can't wait to read more.

Your Tiggers look great!

I LOVE that beach print that you bought. I might have to hunt that down for myself. It would be PERFECT in my bedroom!

I can't believe it took them so long to get you soymilk! They must have picked the soybeans themselves from the garden out back! :rotfl:

I've had a burger from ABC Commissary before and was also disappointed. LIve and learn, I guess!
