Continuation of Day 4) DHS
.Attack of the 50 ft Beach Zombie!
Before I get started just a quick
report
.
The school event I head chaired (last Friday 5-29) went great only a few minor bumps and we had wonderful weather. The overall report was how well organized and run it was and that I did an AWESOME job and most importantly the students had so much FUN! I heard many This was the BEST Exploremore Day EVER! .YAY I felt a huge sigh of relief and a pretty nice confidence boost as well. And then the Engagement Party for my bother that my sister and I threw was another great success it was long and a lot of hard work, but everyone had full bellies and a good time and most importantly the groom and bride to be had a wonderful time and were very thankful!
So thanks for letting me take a minor break from my TR this week will be busy too w/ the last days of school ahead for Michael, Aldine and Mae, plus my final duties as our churchs Nursery Superintendent need to be accomplished and my final Sunday to serve this coming Sunday the 6th, oh and mustnt forget celebrating Matts b-day too!
Note...yesterday the 2nd was his actual b-day and we orderd his favorite pizza from Lou Malnati's (if you are from Chicago or ever visit their "upside down pizza as the kids call it is the BEST!)
then afterwards his Dsis and her huband came over w/ homemade cherry cheesecake brownies for dessert and we searched high and low for the video camera cord (finally found behind the tv w/ a dozen other little findsprobably thanks to Margaret....) and watched part of our Disney vacation video.
Saturday the rest of the family will be coming over for a post-b-day BBQ. I gave DH his present yesterday...a family membership to the Morton Arboretum about 20 minutes from our house. It is HUGE natrual preserve full of driving, walking trails, and a great children's garden and more....he liked it and can't wait till the membership cards come in the mail.
Busy Busy!
Now back to DHS .
I last left you w/ us arriving a little damp at the Sci-Fi getting ready to check in for our earl lunch ADR. When we arrived, some young boy was totally freaking out and screaming and yelling w/ his Dad because he was completely terrified to go inside and eat here .
I felt bad for the kid and thought, man is it really worth it? In turn his crying started to make Michael nervous .but I assured him it would be fine it there and that the boy crying was much younger than him. Luckily we only waited a few minutes
until we were transported back to the 50s and entered the drive in and were seated in our cars
It had been a long time since weve eaten here (never for the kids or my Dad) so it was a nice treat and was pleasantly surprised w/ how quiet and cool it was inside. Once we were seated and the big movie screen caught Michaels eye he was fine.
FYI I think eventually that little boy was calm enough to come in .
Throughout the meal since our car was parked right next to the fence and entrance I scanned the families coming in for a husband and wife and some boys hoping Id spot Carissa. Now granted I didnt now what she looked like, but it was worth a try. I did see several families w/ boys coming in, but not sure if I really did see Carissa and her family.
Where was your car parked?
So we ordered our food which Im trying to remember was this the place that seemed to take a while to get our grub?
Anyways I ordered the Turkey wrap sandwich w/ some cucumber melon salad as a side. Everything was tasty! Matt got another Burger as did Mom and Dad plus they got shakes. Michael ordered a hot dog and fries, w/ apple slices and an ice cream sundae
We ordered plain macaroni noodles for Margaret and the girls ordered pizza.
TR note .at this point I had stopped journaling when the food arrived and got about a day behind in keeping up w/ my notes so the rest is on memory only .hope I can recall all the details in the my notes as good as Kathy!
So we all ate our food and enjoyed the campy Sci-Fi clips and especially the Tom and Jerry cartoon. It had felt as though we had been in here a while and then Michael told me we had watched that part already on the screen .so the movie reel has run its full cycle.
Anyone know how long it is?
We were getting antsy to leave but I knew some ice cream was coming for Michael, when finally our server came out not just w/ his little sundae but a surprise post b-day one for my Mom as well.
The girls helped eat my Moms sundae and then we said good bye to the 50s and used the restrooms before heading back out to the Studios ..oh wait I had to run back in because luckily I realized we had left behind Michaels headphones when I did. They were still in his seat. Whew!
Up next was the GMR:
Josefina enjoyed herself too
We were able to be escorted in which was good, since the movie reel room was packed to the gills .it is one of mine (and my Moms favorite parts) but there was no way Michael couldnt have handled that long wait even w/ the screen distraction it probably only would have worked for one cycle.
The ride was as nice as I remember it has been (since 05 was the last rode it). Michael did quite well, thought at one point when the Gangster had over taken our vehicle (we were in the front row) he said to Michael Whats ya lookin at?
Ooohhh that could have gone bad, but it didnt.
Mae sat near Matt and kept her head down during the ALIEN scene too. The kids enjoyed it and Michael remembered the Egyptian part. And I still cant find that hidden Mickey in those hygrographs (msp?). My favorite parts of course are the scenes from Casablanca and the Wizard of Oz!
Did you know you cant rent out the Oz scene for a private function for say about 10 grand .any takers my birthday is end of August
After TGM, we decided to split up and my Mom and Matt went to Star Tours while the kids, my Dad and I went looking for Lightening McQueen.
It was a little lack luster for us all and boring in Michaels opinion as he [Lighting] didnt even talk .I thought maybe theyd have an audio tape or something like when you touched him oh well?
Next we looked around in some of the nearby gift shops
Michael got a Muppet penny to add to his collection and then in the Christmas shop , my Dad found a St. Pats old style Mickey and Minnie plush that he later purchased w/ my Mom for my brother and his fiancé as their wedding next year is the week before St. Patricks Day. They liked it!
We met back up w/ the others and headed over to the NY back lot for mine and Matts traditional picture:
Oh and Josefina got one too...
Then I looked over the character schedule, because we hardly saw any last year w/ all the SWW crowds and I didnt want the kids to miss out this trip .well me too whistle.
So who would we find and who would find us?
Come back and see .please.
Up NEXT: characters, characters, characters .oh my!
Thanks for reading,
