Sending lots of Disney magic your way to help you get through your day!!:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Sending lots of pixiedust: your way for all of your appointments and follow-ups!!

End of Day 6) the DVC Tour….and “pizza by the sinks and a surprise!”

Our cute driver dropped us off at the SSR-DVC headquarters

Saw this line and knew I was meant to catch up on your TR today (that's where I started)!! First, CONGRATULATIONS on your DVC!! That sounds great! :rolleyes1 may have to take that DVC tour and now that I'll be staying at the SSR it's almost a must, isn't it? We were blessed with an upgrade to SSR from ASMu last week...still :cloud9: Now I have to ask about SSR...how was it?

Just had to say "hi," we were at Animal Kingdom the same day as you! It looks like we just missed each other in several places- we ate at Yak & Yeti CS too but a little earlier. Wasn't it horribly hot that day?

Anyway, it's been fun reading through your TR, you have a beautiful family! Congrats on your DVC purchase!! Looking forward to reading the rest of your trip and seeing if we may have crossed paths anywhere else! :)

Wow! That is some AWESOME news!!!! I'm soo happy for you - DVC seems like it's a perfect fit for your family

After the little teaser you left on my TR, I just HAD to come over and catch up on yours and see what the big news was!

DVC OWNERS!!! How exciting! You are a better woman than I for being able to keep that news under wraps!

Great AK updates..even though you didn't get much done it looked like you all had a fabulous day! No FoW for you? Do you have FOB like I do??

So scary that Mae was missing for that period of time. I lost Jonah at my local Childrens Museum one time and it felt like an eternity. VERY scary...glad things turned out so well for you!

Best of luck at all of your upcoming appointments. A busy mom's work is never done!

I'm all caught up now and hope to stay that way! :goodvibes

Thanks Liz you are 2nd person I have heard to get the upgrade to SSR! very cool. so to answer your question I didn't stay at SSR and didn't see any of those rooms, but if you look up KathyRN's 07 TR (check her siggie if you don't already read her's or PM her she is :thumbsup2) she stayed in a Studio there I think as a DVC member, so she can give you a better idea of what it was like.

But it sure looks pretty from the outside all thos cool Florida colors. I'd so do the tour if you have the time. Yes they won't pressure you to sign anything then, but they will most likely have an incentive to sweeten the deal if you agree to it before you leave Disney. I do recommend, yes since I bought in, but do some research for your self too and ask many questions!!!! if you want my "real" name as a friend referal, I'm happy to oblidge just PM :goodvibes

HI and :welcome:

it's always funny how you'll read about other Disers possibly sitting right by you and you'd didn't even know it. Yes it was HOT! isn't it always :confused3

Wow! That is some AWESOME news!!!! I'm soo happy for you - DVC seems like it's a perfect fit for your family

Thanks Lisa, I really think so too!

;)

DVC OWNERS!!! How exciting! You are a better woman than I for being able to keep that news under wraps!

it was tough.... and thanks!

Great AK updates..even though you didn't get much done it looked like you all had a fabulous day! No FoW for you? Do you have FOB like I do??

no actually I do like FoW, but I was on EE instead....hard toss up huh

So scary that Mae was missing for that period of time. I lost Jonah at my local Childrens Museum one time and it felt like an eternity. VERY scary...glad things turned out so well for you!

thanks

Best of luck at all of your upcoming appointments. A busy mom's work is never done!

update below:

I'm all caught up now and hope to stay that way! :goodvibes

me too

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First....Michael's second day at church camp they say was night and day and he felt have the director w/ him really helped, so a mini :yay: I hope today is OK for him too as at swim lessons this morning he had a breakdown and was frustrated w/ his goggles and then feeling like he was last to finish each task in his group, he alo confided in me he doesn't like that it's 4 kids to 1 instructer, either do I :sad2: When the instructer asked me if he was OK and what happened I had to say that he was Autistic, etc, etc and she siad 1 of the others girls was too.... Ok that is a bit much for a high school or college girl to deal w/ she seemed a bit flustered herself, I may say something to the head guard tomorrow if it doen't seem like she asked for an additional instructor to help for the next 2 days.

anyways, Aldine was confindently diagnosed w/ combined type ADHD, highly inatentive w/ some restlessness and impulsivity. The doctor has prescribed medicine and Matt and I are very hopeful this will help her alot and she'll be able to manage better. Another somewhat freaky thing he said though that a parent who has ADHD (Matt) is likely to have 80% of his children to have it too or an 80% chance of his/her children having it, since it is highly heretic :scared:

the chances both Mae and Margaret have it are very likely too...but at least we know what to look for and how to help. and the other bright thing is, no sign of Autism in Aldine  PTL.

As parents we need to take each step in trust and faith and know only HE will give us what we can handle and what our children can to. This is God's plan for my children and for me as their mother, I think I knew this was coming and it's OK :goodvibes

thanks all

off to play w/ Mae before running a few errands and get back to writing the Epcot posts!

Scrappie (J-)

OH PS, Margaret w/ the food issues, finally had a blood draw to determine sensitives to certian foods and the test did show mild to cow's milk, egg whites and wheat but not cultivated wheat and cheese (cassien). So partially good that it's not severe, and that finally now when I say these foods are bothering her, they'll [doctors] believe me.

Ok enough of my sad case back to Disney soon, thanks for letting me vent it here :grouphug:

Before I get back to the regulary scheduled TR (have 2 1/2 posts typed up) let's enjoy this:

I was looking for More Disney info for an upcoming trip. I didn't post for at least a year. One of my earliest posts was on one of KathyRN's reports. I think me, MrsKSomeday (Tracy) and Jordanyosh all started posting about the same time and hanging out in some of the same threads.

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?
DH and I have daydreamed about this. He wants to be an Imagineer (he is an enigneer by trade now). I'd want to work in the accounting office. But being a scuba diver cleaning the Seas tank would be cool too. On the other end, he wants a cart in Epcot selling ice cream treats and I want to sell popcorn and soda in MK.

16) What is your favorite Disney song?
Spoon Full of Sugar.....2nd place is Zippie Do Da

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?

I can't. The words won't come to me, it's just too much to explain.

1) Your Disboard name and why you chose it? jmamom – my kids initials and my most important job (okay my only job)

2) Trips to any Disney Park: year, park and resort off or on :1982, Offsite, Magic Kingdom (I remember seeing the promo stuff for EPCOT) ; 2001, All 4 parks, Wilderness Lodge – only one month after 9/11 – parks were eerily empty.

4) Your favorite Big Attraction: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

5) Your favorite "secret": The DIS!

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?
I wish it were Harry Potter world (unfortunately that going to be at the other Orlando park). Maybe Middle Earth would be cool, but probably not a whole park full of it.

16) What is your favorite Disney song? “Second Star to the Right” and “I’ll Try “ from Return to Neverland – they both always makes me tear up.:sad1:
17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include? 22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park? Nope.

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use? Magic, Childhood, No Worries!

THIS IS SO MUCH FUN...(I saw this last night-but I wanted to take a little time with a cup of coffee...:surfweb:

1) Your Disboard name and why you chose it?

PracPerfPatricia...:rotfl:-I'm so not perfect BUT I joined Disboards right after we had seen the Mary Poppins Musical and I was listening to the soundtrack...I was having a hard time getting the boards to accept any variation on Patricia so after listening to Mary Poppins sing "I'm Practically Perfect in Everyway"...I tried PracPerfPatricia...and it stuck...

2) Trips to any Disney Park: year, park and resort off or on

POFQ-DWD-1998
Boardwalk Inn-DWD-2001
WL--DWD-2003
Grand Cal-DL-2005
AKL-WDW-2006
Poly-WDW-2007
Grand Cal-2008
&
AKL-coming up in 17 days...

3) Your first Disney Memory

I know I have earlier ones but our trip in 2003 was really what turned me into a major Disney fan-When I walked into the Wilderness Lodge-I think my jaw dropped-that with it being the first trip with DS and DD going to CRT with her costume...pure magic...:wizard:

4) Your favorite Big Attraction

Wow-this is hard-I have more than one...

To put in a nod for DL

The Indiana Jones Ride is amazing...&
I first rode Soarin there....

At DWD

Haunted Mansion, Pirates, BTM, Test Track...hoping EE will become a favorite this trip...

5) Your favorite “secret”

This is tough- I guess just all the details you discover when you take the time to look...(I have to think about this one a little...)

6) Why did you start Dising? Do you remember what your first post was?

Because I wanted to share the :lovestruc and also I was planning a preholiday trip to AKL in 2006 and I reallly wanted to make it perfect for my family so I started really PLANNING (maybe a little too much) and through my reading I discoverd Dis Boards...

I think my first post was on the AKL board with a ???:confused3

7) Have you ever worked for the Disney Company, when and where?

NO-But it would be fun...:)

8) Have you ever won a Disney trip or experienced a “dream” during the Year of a Million Dreams?

YES!-we all got golden mouse ears on one of our Disneyland trips and we got Fast Past Cards on a WDW trip -but we were getting ready to leave after lunch so we passed them on to another happy family...that was fun:goodvibes

9) What is your Disney planning style?

It started our being very laid back and then the pendulum swung way far in the other direction and I was uber planned (almost to the minute)...I think I'm in a happy medium place...

10) If you were in a Disney movie who would you be?

Alice-not because I'm her age obviously...:lmao: but because I identify with the absurdity of the situations she finds herself in...the first time this really crystalized for me was when we were having DS tested for Asperger's and the pyschologist had a Alice talking to the Cheshire Cat poster on his wall and I had an aha moment-and have been identifying with her since..(I've gone back and watched the film and read the book and it just confirmed it...I feel I have an "Alice" moment everyday...

11) Name something you do every trip

At least one character meal...

12) Name something you have never done

I haven't yet done EE, or RnRollercoaster or ToT...I will do EE this trip since David is tall enough now and really looking forward to it...the same with RnR-I'm not sure about ToT though...

13) Name something you wish would happen to you or a family member at Disney

Hmm...maybe getting to stay in the castle...

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?

I would also love them to finish up AKL a bit...(there was supposed to be a land of fantasy creatures-ie unicorns, dragons, etc.)

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?

Hmmm-that's tough because the heat and humidity can get to me but working for Disney would be awesome...I'd love to be one of the guides who does the tours-like the Family Magic Tour or help coordinate special events like weddings...

16) What is your favorite Disney song?

When DS was first born I was watching Sleeping Beauty with DD and rocking
DS and I used to sing him "Once Upon a Dream."

17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include?

Wow-this is tough so many good options....First I'd want everyone to be really healthy and feeling in top form so they could enjoy everything...

Secondly- a nice amt. of balance between parks & resting and swimming, character meals and just good restaurants....ok this is such a mom answer...

How about a 10 day stay (all expenses paid of course-we won this trip) at the Beach Club with Deluxe Dining (all paid for) and maybe a side trip to Cape Canaveral & the Harry Potter park when it opens and (since we aren't paying for this (a 4 night cruise at the end...)

Honestly every DWD trip we've gone on has been special...

18) When do you normally Dis?

Either at night or during the summer-more flexibility-when I get the chance...

19) When you are not Dising, what do you do?

Hmmm...there's more in life than dising-right now with our trip coming up?

...All those other things that make my family's world go round and make life possible...

20) If you had only 1 hour to spend at WDW what would you do?

OH this is just mean...Ok-probably walk down Main Street in the MK up to the castle around behind to ride BTMRR and Pirates and then get Mickey bars...or something from Main Street Bakery...

21) What is your favorite Disney souvenir?

Photos of my family, a couple of Pins from the different resorts, and the train that we bought for DS a couple of years ago that we bring out for the holidays...

21) Does every room in your house have at least 1 Disney item in it, or name which rooms and stuff.

If books and videos count-then almost certainly...:goodvibes

books, videos, toys, pins, clothing, hmm...the only rooms that probably don't all have Dis stuff are the kitchen and bathrooms...
.

22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park?

We did the Family Magic Tour-does that count...:confused3

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?

Happy, safe, comforting, fun

Ok time for my answers….

1) Your Disboard name and why you chose it?

MouseScrapper (now I should have put that Capital “S” in there from the start whoops, it has been mistaken for something else) and Scrappie. Besides the Mouse and all things Disney my other favorite hobby is Scrapbooking so I thought it fit together quite well, and I love my nickname I think originally it was given to me by MRYPPNS and KathyRN

2) Trips to any Disney Park: year, park and resort off or on

1984 or 5, as a kid w/ my family WDW: MK & Epcot (plus other Orlando attractions) stayed I think at a Days Inn off site
1987 or 8 as a pre-teen w/ my family DL stayed w/ family
1994 WDW: MK, Epcot, MGM onsite-CBR
1995 WDW: MK, Epcot, MGM onsite-CBR
1998 WDW: MK, Epcot, MGM, AK onsite ASSports
2001 WDW on the plane on the way on the morning of 9/11, never made it, we were safe full refund from Disney and AA
2005 WDW: all parks onsite POR
2008 WDW: all parks onsite Poly
2009 WDW: all parks with the now called DHS onsite CSR
Upcoming 2010 WDW: BLT first trip “home”

3) Your first Disney Memory

From the 84/5 trip I would have been 10 or 11, I vividly remember riding the then version of Journey Into Imagination and buying a Figment plastic figure (which Michael now has) and my Dad losing his swim trunks off the balcony of our hotel. I also remember thinking my parents were in love…not that they are not now, but that’s probably when I really first knew it.

4) Your favorite Big Attraction

I’m going to say two: ToT and IASW…I know an unlikely combo

5) Your favorite “secret”

Hidden Mickey’s my favorite is the Viking w/ the Mouse Ears on in the queue line for Malestrom

6) Why did you start Dising? Do you remember what your first post was?

I was getting ready to plan the 08 family trip, and was poking around various sites when I found the Disboards. My first post was asking I think on the family thread if you could take a full size stroller on the RR at MK

7) Have you ever worked for the Disney Company, when and where?

Yes my first job during college was a 3 ½ year stint as a CM for the Disney Store here’s my CM watch:

Back then they gave CM’s 1-day park hopper passes (2 every six months) that never expired. I saved them and used them for the 1998 trip.

8) Have you ever won a Disney trip or experienced a “dream” during the Year of a Million Dreams?

In 08 we were given a free box of popcorn (the girls really) for passing out glow bracelets to the crowd while waiting for Spectro. In 09 while talking to a CM and Mae mentioned that next yr we were coming for her b-day, he gave us a single use immediate FP’s we weren’t able to use them and passed them on to a very happily surprised family.

9) What is your Disney planning style?

Since 05 and now that I’m addicted to these boards I'm a happy at times flexible OCD planner :rolleyes1. Days, Resort, parks, dining, tour, the magic stuff

10) If you were in a Disney movie who would you be?

Probably the White Rabbit, I always feel I’m running late

11) Name something you do every trip

Since ’94 take a picture of DH & I on the NY backdrop in the Studios

12) Name something you have never done

Have a Dole Whip (I know there are a few more things too)

13) Name something you wish would happen to you or a family member at Disney

Be picked to be part of a parade or opening show

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?

I think 4 parks is a happy medium, but if the long time rumors ever happen I’d love it to be hands on behind the scenes kinda place, like a Children’s Museum but for adults too You get to turn on the lights, run the ride, draw a cartoon and see it come to life, voice Mickey, dress up as a character….they probably never would but it’s be kinda cool/

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?

Oh YES! I’d love to be a Tour Guide or work w/ the kids in the special kid-only adventures.

16) What is your favorite Disney song?

“When you Wish Upon a Star” and the “Circle of Life”, I was working for the Stores then when LK came out to the movies.

17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include?

3-4 weeks, stay at a different DVC resort and Poly each week. Do all the regular stuff, and the little stuff you don’t always have time for to find all the little magical “secrets”. See all the parades and shows, there's so much how could I name it all!

18) When do you normally Dis?

Generally in the morning while the kids eat their breakfast and are playing or at school. Then I try to check-in before lunch and dinner.

19) When you are not Dising, what do you do?

Picking up, cleaning, laundry, taking the kids somewhere, scrapbooking, etc, oh and sleeping

20) If you had only 1 hour to spend at WDW what would you do?

I’d get a Mickey Mouse rice krispie and watch Spectro and if time walk thru the Castle.

21) What is your favorite Disney souvenir?

I love my purse from Japan my Mom bought me in 05, it doesn’t have any “Disney” on it, but I still love it. AND my Disney picture frame collection oh and I guess my new DVC Member tote bag

21) Does every room in your house have at least 1 Disney item in it, or name which rooms and stuff.

Except for 3 of our 4 bathrooms, duh YES!!!!!
Kitchen & Family room: Mickey serving ware and a set of plant pots, WTP glasses, Disney mugs, cupes etc, antique glasses and magnets on the fridge and bulliten board.
Living Room & Dining Room: My Disney scrapbooks, frames w/ pic’s from trips & WTP collectibles
Main Hallway: the Mickey Mouse silhouette collage frame DH made me
Michael’s room: LK pictures and various Disney collectibles
Mae & Margaret’s room: Princess EVERYTHING and a huge plastic mural of Cinderella Castle
Aldine’s Room: Lilo and Stitch pictures and various Disney collectibles
Kids Bathroom: All Mickey, paint, shower curtain, towels, 05 collectible litho from WDW, and a collection of WDW plates from the parks' 25th b-day
Our bedroom: lei’s from the Poly, Mickey clothing, bags and watches (hey that counts) and the Disney Planning Box is on the Floor!
Screened Porch: Disney Parks Sand bucket print
Basement: A drawing by Aldine from 1st grade of the MK and B & W pictures of us w/ Mickey from last 3 trips, Michal’s Toy Story collection and a gazillion toys
Scrapbooking Room: collection of refillable mugs and a Chef Mickey’s Mug when it was at the Marketplace from ’95, car toppers, pictures, books, etc….

22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park?

I had my chance as a CM on the ’94 and ’95 trips to go in the “basement” but I chickened out, but if you count seeing the back side of EE and part of AK on our way to SSR for the DVC tour, then yes.

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?

Wonderful Exhilarating Dreams (did you get that?) ;)

Oh can I please share these pictures of Margaret?

a few nights ago she was acting all goofy and getting into something (what else is new w/ a 2 1/2 yrr old huh  and I siad sometimes you are more of a Pirate pirate: than a Princess princess: So I found somethings in Michael's room and

thanks for reading!

This is cool. I'm going to steal it for my PTR if that's okay. Hopefully anyone that's on both can just copy and paste. :thumbsup2

1) Your Disboard name and why you chose it?

hhockman. It's my name. I know. Lame. I would really, really like to change it to gatormommy ('cause I don't like my name on here now that I'm more conscious of those things), but names can't be changed.

2) Trips to any Disney Park: year, park and resort off or on

I honestly can't remember what years I went as a kid. I know we went a few times with my parents, both together and separate (my parents split up just before I turned 9 and got back together when I was in college). Usually when we went to visit my dad he'd take us, because he was stationed in Tampa. I'll guess at high school on (though there were trips before that):

-We did Disneyland when I was about 3-4 on our way over to the Philippines (we were stationed there for a couple years). I don't remember it, my mom just told me.
-a few times <1990 offsite in Kissimmee
-sometime around 92 at the Dolphin (I remember my dad got a free night as a veteran, he'd just gotten back from Iraq)
-1990, 91, 92 (just guessing) off site in Kissimmee
-1993?-Campground in a Pop-Up tent at Fort Wilderness-never stayed offsite again
-August 1994 (just before I started college)-POR (Dixie Landings then) I think
-1995-I honestly can't remember (but could probably find pictures). I was at UF and I'm pretty sure we all had Annual Passes so I'm sure we went several times
-1996-Several times again. I think we always stayed at All Stars. My brother and my DH (BF at the time) both graduated high school and they both (as well as my parents) moved to Gainesville where I was.
-1997-Several times. Probably All Stars or Dixie Landings. We stayed there a lot. One time we stayed at the Contemporary because my mom was at a conference and her work paid for it
_1997-98?-went with my aunt and two cousins. They were there for a week, I only stayed three days, but my aunt paid for EVERYTHING except my tickets. Can't remember where we stayed. POFQ maybe? That doesn't sound right.
-1999-several times. Who knows where. I know there are pictures somewhere.
-2000-We were supposed to have our wedding at Disney, but didn't. I know we went later in the year though at some point. No idea when. I think we did MVMCP. I'm sure we went more than once.
-2001-I know we in July with my SIL, BIL, and niece who was one month shy of 4. My SIL was pregnant with my nephew. I got pregnant with my son about 2 weeks after we got back. I'm pretty sure we stayed in All Stars.
-2002-Several trips. Not sure where or when. I know I have pictures of DS at about 6 months. So that would have been September. We probably stayed All Stars. I think we were there for Night of Joy. Probably Christmas too (Just found a picture from December-All Star Sports). Found some pictures. We were definitely at Night of Joy but didn't see any resort pictures. :confused3 Probably still had lots of 35MM at that point
-2003-several. No telling where. Ah. Thank heaven for digital cameras. March (DS7's first birthday-All Stars), June (with MIL, looks like All Star Music) and August (All Star Sports-found pics FINALLY).
-2004-January with friends (Coranado Springs, I think), March (for Will’s b-day just overnight I think, probably All Stars), May-All Star Sports, October for MNSSHP (not sure if we stayed and if we did where), December for MVMCP (probably All Stars but not sure)
-2005-January (not sure where we stayed), December for MVMCP (not sure looks like All Stars)
-2006-March AKL for Will’s 4th birthday, June for Christian’s 1st birthday (All Stars I think)
-2007-All Star Sports (first trip after moving away from Florida)
-2009-September-POR (in less than 7 weeks!)

Okay, I know this is long and confusing. What’s worse is I know I’m missing a lot. I’ve stayed in every Value and Moderate resort plus AKL, WL (me and DH before we were married with my brother and his then girlfriend-not sure what year), Yacht Club (just for one night with my aunt sometime in college), and Contemporary. I need more pictures.

3) Your first Disney Memory
Not a clue. I remember being there in high school with friends. One year we brought one of my friends, the next year we brought one of my brother’s. We have a picture of my brother and I at about 10 and 12 standing in front of Dumbo. And I remember the year we went with my dad and stayed at the Dolphin. Might have been the same trip. I was about 12. We got in an accident where someone ran a stop sign on base the day we were supposed to leave. My dad was pretty sore and I had seat belt burn (my brother, who was in the backseat WITHOUT A SEATBELT ON didn’t get hurt). When all the paperwork was finished we rented a car and went to Disney.

4) Your favorite Big Attraction
Space Mountain (which will be closed this time  ) and probably EE and Soarin.
And POTC. LOVE Pirates!

5) Your favorite “secret”
The walkway from Toontown to Tomorrowland.

6) Why did you start Dising? Do you remember what your first post was?
My profile says 2005, but I don’t know when or why. I was probably planning a trip. Or maybe I was missing Disney. 2005 was the year my second DS was born so we “only” went in January and December.

7) Have you ever worked for the Disney Company, when and where?
Yes. I worked at a call center in Tampa. They have 1 call center in Lake Buena Vista and 1 in Tampa for reservations. I was the person at the end of the phone when you called to make reservations. I was only there about 3 months. Training was a lot of fun, but when it came down to it there was a lot of “sales” type stuff involved and I just am not a sales person. Plus I found out I was pregnant with my second DS about a month into it and I was driving an hour each way and was too tired. And I had to work Christmas. I remember it being somewhat fun, though, and I loved the people I worked with. As time goes by I can’t remember as much about why I quit.

8) Have you ever won a Disney trip or experienced a “dream” during the Year of a Million Dreams?
No. I don’t really remember experiencing any of that kind of “special” type thing any of the million times we’ve been (though we probably have). Although we did get a kind of “dream” from other guests. We were at Animal Kingdom in 2007 and were watching the parade right next to a family who had been given Fast Passes. They were leaving the park and gave us two of their fast passes so my DH and I could use them to ride EE. We never got to use them because he didn’t want to walk all the way back over there, but they were a great souvenir and I’ll always remember the family that gave them to us.

One time I did get to participate in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in the hotseat when it was at MGM. That was fun. I didn’t get as far as I would have liked and I messed up the answer to a question I KNEW because I was nervous. Got a hat and some pins I think.

9) What is your Disney planning style?
Fairly OCD. I think planning is almost as fun as being there. I like to read everything I can find and make loose schedules, though we don’t really completely stick to them. And I’ll talk about the trip to anyone who will listen, as far in advance as I can (current PTR started last September).

10) If you were in a Disney movie who would you be?
Gabriella in HSM :rolleyes1 (LOL). Um, maybe Wendy. I’ve always loved Peter Pan.

11) Name something you do every trip
Take about a million pictures (at least since the kids were born).
Eat at Pecos Bills

12) Name something you have never done
Had a Dole Whip (sorry, stole that one)
Ridden the ferry that goes around Tom Sawyer island

13) Name something you wish would happen to you or a family member at Disney
Be chosen to spend the night in the castle. Or Grand Marshalls of a parade. Something really memorable.

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?
I like whoever said we should have Disney Sea. Though I’d also like them to finish Animal Kingdom.

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?
Sure! I’d want something a little “higher up” but where I could still interact with kids. Maybe a higher level tour guide or something.

16) What is your favorite Disney song?
Can You Feel The Love Tonight (Matt and I went on our first “official” date to see this movie-on his birthday in 1994)

17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include?
Probably 2-3 weeks stay at AKL and WL and Beach Club in a nice room (doesn’t have to be a suite, but nice). Deluxe Dining. Spa Treatments. One date night where the kids get to go to the kids’ club. Golf for Matt. A cruise in the middle (at WDW before and after). Enough spending money where I could buy whatever I really wanted (not just anything, but what I really wanted). At least one photo session. Maybe two.

18) When do you normally Dis?
At night after the kids are in bed. Sometimes during the day. Mostly at night.

19) When you are not Dising, what do you do?
Play with my kids, Read, Scrapbook (digi and paper), teach (just substituting till I can find a job), surf the web, chat with friends (on IM and the phone), baseball (DS7 plays All Stars, DS4 is just starting), watch tv, shop (or window shop as the case may be), play my Wii or Nintendo DS

20) If you had only 1 hour to spend at WDW what would you do?
Walk around World Showcase or ride EE and KS or ride Space Mountain and POTC and get some popcorn somewhere

21) What is your favorite Disney souvenir?
My pictures, my scrapbooks (that are mostly unfilled yet), my picture frames

21) Does every room in your house have at least 1 Disney item in it, or name which rooms and stuff.
Probably. We live with my parents and my mom is almost as big a Disney nut as me. Though my dad’s “man cave” might not have anything unless the kids left some Disney toys in there

22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park?
Yes. At MK, EPCOT, and MGM. When I worked there we got to ride over and were given a tour so that we would “know the product”. I’ve done Keys to the Kingdom too.

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?
Special time with my family.

First - Sorry to hear about the craziness of your week last week!! I'm glad you have a formal diagnosis for Aldine - hopefully the medication will help her. :goodvibes Also glad you have some answers about Margaret's food sensitivities. And I hope the rest of the week was better for Michael's swimming lessons. It's funny you mention frustration with goggles... that happened to Zach yesterday. ;)

Before I get back to the regulary scheduled TR (have 2 1/2 posts typed up) let's enjoy this:

Scrappie’s Get to Know Your Inner Disney QUIZ>>>>

No worries this is not a study test :teacher: and no wrong answers….anyone ever post on the “Next Poster” Thread to fin out more things about your fellow disers? Well I have and it’s a cute ongoing game. But I thought it would be even more fun to see what things you guys have done or think in relation to Disney.

So please participate if you wish and we may find even more in common than we already know! :dance3:

1) Your Disboard name and why you chose it?

DisMomAmy... Amy's my name & I guess I'm a DisMom. :goodvibes

2) Trips to any Disney Park: year, park and resort off or on

My very first trip was in 1983 with my Mom, Dad and brother who was 6 at the time. I was 9. We drove down in our pickup truck - my brother & I rode in the back... yes - the "bed" of the pickuptruck (with a cap on it) all the way from NH. :scared1: We stayed at the FW campground.

I tagged along with my best friend's family in 1987 & 1990. We stayed off-site the first time and on-site (don't remember where??) in 1990. I remember the two of us catching a bus to MGM by ourselves - we felt so grown up.

Adult trips...
1998 with DH - off-site.
2002 with DH, Mom & Alex (16 months old) - I have pictures of him on the carousel that I love. :goodvibes Off-site
2006 with DH, Alex, Zach, DMIL, Jeff, his ex-wife, J & K - only 3 days in the middle of our week visiting Jeff & family. Off-site in an AWFUL timeshare condo.
2007 with DH, Alex & Zach. We also had DMIL, Jeff, his ex-wife, J & K there for a few days. Off-site at the Marriott Grande Visita... :thumbsup2
April 2008 with my Mom. A short fun trip on-site at Pop Century.
April 2009 with DH, Alex & Zach. Jeff & Karen visited for a few days. Stayed at CBR and had a great time.

3) Your first Disney Memory

As many of us have figured out, kids love the pools more than the parks... My first Disney Memory is from River Country when my mother and brother had to be pulled out of the water by a lifeguard! :headache:

4) Your favorite Big Attraction

It's probably always been Space Mountain up until the last time I rode it in 2007. It seemed so much more "jerky" or I'm just old now. I can't wait for it to re-open. I've become very fond of the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster.

5) Your favorite “secret”

All the great things they do at Disney to help kids of all abilities have a wonderful trip. :goodvibes

6) Why did you start Dising? Do you remember what your first post was?

I started DISing in July of 2007 prior to our fall 2007 trip. We had discovered the GAC and had a wonderful time in 2006 - I wanted to find out more abuot traveling with special needs. I think I googled "WDW & autism" when Kathy's report popped up. I was hooked and joined the Dis then. I'm sure my first post was on her report.

7) Have you ever worked for the Disney Company, when and where?

Nope

8) Have you ever won a Disney trip or experienced a “dream” during the Year of a Million Dreams?

We got some free ice cream in 2007.

9) What is your Disney planning style?

I think I finally found the right balance this year. I had all of the park days planned out, along with the ADRs. I knew which attractions were our priorities and which ones we needed to hit early and let everyone decide from there. I think it worked out really well and everyone was happy.

10) If you were in a Disney movie who would you be?

Hmmm... I'll have to think about this one. Tim & Zach are the movie guys in our family.

11) Name something you do every trip

Hmm... Probably It's a Small World & Pirates of the Carribean (except when it was closed). I can't think of something special that's not an attraction.

12) Name something you have never done

Still haven't done Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor or Tom Sawyer Island! :scared1:

13) Name something you wish would happen to you or a family member at Disney

I'd love to open the Magic Kingdom. :cool1:

Or it would be great if Zachary were chosen to participate in some sort of show or presentation... He sometimes has to take a back seat to Alex's behavioral issues.

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?

I love what MRYPPNS was telling us about the mythical section of AK - that woudl be fun. Or a "Sea World" type park would be really neat too. But I don't know if I could handle planning or touring with a 5th park! :scared1:

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?

I would love to move to Orlando... if I could pick up my whole community and bring it with me. :rolleyes1 I would want to work somewhere that didn't involve a big hot costume. And not in food service...

16) What is your favorite Disney song?

I love the Splash Mountain music - it makes me so happy. And of course "When you wish upon a star". :cloud9:

17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include?

A lot like our last vacation but staying in a larger room and staying somewhere like the Beach Club.

18) When do you normally Dis?

Usually in the evening, first thing in the morning on the weekend or at various time during the week when I have some down time.

19) When you are not Dising, what do you do?

I do bookkeeping part time, but I also do a lot at the kids school. I'm the co-president of the PTO (with my friend & neighbor) so that takes up a lot of my time. I try to keep up with my gardens...

20) If you had only 1 hour to spend at WDW what would you do?

Ooooo... that's tough. I guess it would depend if I were by myself or with the kids. By myself I would probably take a walk around the World Showcase and just suck in as much Disney as possible. But it would be hard to stay away from THE PARK... MK.

21) What is your favorite Disney souvenir?

My coffee mug that I use every morning.

21) Does every room in your house have at least 1 Disney item in it, or name which rooms and stuff.

Obviously all of the bedrooms do... clothes, stuffed animals, etc. The kitchen has Disney mugs and magnets. The kitchen also has a cloth bulletin board with all of our ride pictures on it. You know, the ones you have to buy after your ride. The dining room has Disney placemats and a Disney picture frame. The living room has... hmmm... nothing! I'll have to do something about that. I dont think either of the bathrooms have any Disney. The playroom downstairs must have some Disney toys.

22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park?

Unfortunately no.

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?

The Magic & My Kids. :cloud9:

Thanks for playing and enjoy! You can add a question to if you want.

I'm going to jump in here because who doesn't love to talk about herself? :rotfl:

1) Your Disboard name and why you chose it?

SwansLoveDisney, because I love Disney! Kinda lame, but when I chose it, I just knew I would ask two or three questions and then be done with Disboards. :rolleyes1

2) Trips to any Disney Park: year, park and resort off or on

1991 - Magic Kingdom, MGM, and Epcot, stayed at Caribbean Beach, then the 3 night Disney cruise on the Big Red Boat with mom, dad, and 3 brothers

2004 - All four parks, stayed at POP with then-boyfriend, now husband

2009 - Just Magic Kingdom with mom stayed at POR

3) Your first Disney Memory

I seem to remember a lot of Roger Rabbit stuff. :confused3

4) Your favorite Big Attraction

Tower of Terror!

5) Your favorite “secret”

Do months and months of "research" on the DIS before you go!

6) Why did you start Dising? Do you remember what your first post was?

I started Dising because I wasn't sure what to request for our stay at AKL. My first post was asking what to request. Soon, I was hooked!

7) Have you ever worked for the Disney Company, when and where?

Nope!

8) Have you ever won a Disney trip or experienced a “dream” during the Year of a Million Dreams?

I didn't really win a dream, but a group that had received dream fastpasses at DHS had one extra and they handed it off to me. That was kinda cool!

9) What is your Disney planning style?

Commando! I plan every moment of every day from rope drop to fireworks! I'm trying to work on that.

10) If you were in a Disney movie who would you be?

Belle!

11) Name something you do every trip

On every trip, I wish we had stayed longer!

12) Name something you have never done

Hall of Presidents!

13) Name something you wish would happen to you or a family member at Disney

I wish we would win a lifetime supply of hotel stays and park passes. Fat chance!

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?

I'm good with what's there!

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?

I think that would take some of the fun out of it, so I guess not. But if I did work there, I'd like to be one of the people that swings the jump ropes for kids before the parades.

16) What is your favorite Disney song?

When You Wish Upon a Star

17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include?

Ummm...well, I would love to stay at the Boardwalk so I could walk to World Showcase. It would include the dining plan for sure. And it would include lots of my family and friends!

18) When do you normally Dis?

Usually before work and on the weekends. Lately, never! I'm working on that!

19) When you are not Dising, what do you do?

I work full time as a physical therapist and I plan trips elsewhere. A 30th birthday Vegas trip is in the works as well as a trip to Scandinavia next summer.

20) If you had only 1 hour to spend at WDW what would you do?

Watch Wishes and do Haunted Mansion!

21) What is your favorite Disney souvenir?

Currently, it's the Mickey drain stopper that I purchased in June

21) Does every room in your house have at least 1 Disney item in it, or name which rooms and stuff.

Many of the rooms have Disney things in them. Lots of picture frames and kitchen items. And my bedding set is from the Disney collection at JCPenney

22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park?

No, but it sounds super cool

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?

Hakuna Matata!

5) Your favorite “secret”

hmmm.... I'll have to think about it.....

6) Why did you start Dising? Do you remember what your first post was?

I joined when we were planning our Disneymoon... I can't remember exactly what my first post was, but I think it was on the weddings & honeymoons board...

7) Have you ever worked for the Disney Company, when and where?

no, but I'd love to retire to Disney someday...

8) Have you ever won a Disney trip or experienced a “dream” during the Year of a Million Dreams?

no :(

9) What is your Disney planning style?

depends on the trip... our honeymoon was pretty commando-style, with lunch and dinner ADRs every day and constant running from place to place... but our other trips have been more laid back... with DVC & APs, I don't feel the need to tour commando-style on every trip.

10) If you were in a Disney movie who would you be?

Nala in Lion King, or perhaps Remy

11) Name something you do every trip

Go to AK & go on Kilimanjaro Safari

12) Name something you have never done

never done any of the shows, or eaten Tonga Toast

13) Name something you wish would happen to you or a family member at Disney

I'd like DH to get to be "that guy" at Monsters Inc... he really wants the attention!

14) If you could decide what the next park at WDW would be, what would you call it?

I want to see a park with more thrill rides, a la Islands of Adventure... so maybe Disney's Adventure Kingdom? I'm not very creative :rotfl:

15) Would you ever consider moving to Orlando to work at WDW and what job would you want?

see above... we'd love to retire to Orlando and get jobs as CMs in the resorts...

16) What is your favorite Disney song?

"I Just Can't Wait to Be King"

17) If you designed the perfect Disney vacation, what would it include?

Lots of down time... we've yet to take a trip longer than 6 nights, so even when we try to "relax" we're always on the go. I'd love to take a 10+ day trip so we could have an off-day from the parks and enjoy the resort...

18) When do you normally Dis?

during the summer and school holidays, can't exactly DIS from my classroom very often :rotfl2:

19) When you are not Dising, what do you do?

By profession, I'm a high school social studies teacher... in my spare time, I'm an aspiring amateur photographer...

20) If you had only 1 hour to spend at WDW what would you do?

if its early morning, probably go to DHS to ride TSM... later in the day, probably drink my way around the World Showcase

21) What is your favorite Disney souvenir?

pins and t-shirts... we don't pin trade, but we do collect a few meaningful pins from each trip... and I seem to always end up with a new Disney t-shirt when we're there

21) Does every room in your house have at least 1 Disney item in it, or name which rooms and stuff.

we have Disney stuff in our entryway (shadowboxes of scrapbook layouts I've done, and soon a Disney lithograph that we've been meaning to get framed)... and a lot of misc. Disney stuff in our office... not much in the rest of the house though

22) Have you ever been Backstage at any Walt Disney Park?

only if the "Behind the Seeds" tour at EPCOT counts as backstage

23) If you had to sum why you LOVE Disney so much, what 3-5 words would you use?

happiest place on earth!

Thanks for playing and enjoy! You can add a question to if you want.

Day 7) Wednesday April 1st (April Fools Day) Epcot

***the running April Fool's joke today was "do you want some jelly beans?" ***stay tuned for the explanation...

We had breakfast in our room and headed over to the main bus stop #1, to catch a bus over to Epcot for the day. I think we headed out sometime before 9 am and arrived shortly after opening as I remember several people were still milling around the Princess F & G display in front of SSE. We stopped to take a few more pictures we didn’t get during our 1st visit earlier in the week. I found a PhotoPass photographer, I wanted a group shot or at least the kids, but Michael was not up to posing for pictures yet this morning, so pictures of the 3 girls is what I got, and they turned out quite cute in their matching purple-ish shirts:

So now it was time to head into the park and get to business! The little girls had their id tags on, we had our Tour Plan and maps, and so what else do we need to get touring….

As we were passing the stroller, wheelchair and ECV rentals, luckily we all thought the same thing. Matt & I were worried my Mom would have a hard time keeping up today in the large park w/ her increasing sore knee and feet (she has a history of issues w/ her feet and knees w/ several surgeries to boot). We asked my Mom what she thought about renting something today, and she actually was thinking the same thing (Whew! I certainly didn’t want to embarrass or insult my Mom.) She ended up renting an EVC and it was a pretty good deal for the day, at $45 dollars.

we weren't the only family on the move today...

Before we get to the good stuff, here was our tentative Touring Plan for the Day:

Finish up FW attractions:

Test Track

? possible Mission Space

F & G things, fairy garden & Minnie’s Butterflies

Another stop into MouseGears (you’ll learn why later)

Tour the Rest of the countries we missed:

Mexico and boat ride

Norway for Maelstrom and Trolls

China

Italy (Lady and Tramp Garden)

United Kingdom

And if time Canada (sorry my Canadian friends).

We plan to eat lunch here in Epcot and go back to CSR for dinner and swimming at the Pool.

So now that 2/7 of us were on wheels we got ZOOMING over to TT, the twins, Matt, I and my Mom went on and my Dad took the little girls over to the Fairies Garden. It took us a minute to figure out where it was since you couldn’t see the garden from in front of TT, but it was close by.

We went up thru the FP line and waited about 5 minutes till we were let in the briefing room ad then loading in ours cars:

We had a really fun ride and I love zipping around that bank turn. It sure is fun, but now that I have read on a few TR’s I want to try going at night, that sounds cool! Here is our pic from the ride:

We met back up w/ my Dad and the little girls.

Mae was over by a little KidCot area doing a project, I sat down by her to then discover from the rain over night my shorts were wet UGH. Mae was trying to make this Fairy Garden card:

100_3906.jpg

But the CM working was having just the darndest time working the little laminator, it took her almost 3 tries before Mae got the finished project above, which means she colored almost 3 of these cards. Oh well, at least she got the souvenir.

We were right next to the MouseGears store at this point so DH had a couple things to handle in the store, so he had time while Mae and I (and the flustered CM) were doing her card. Remember the Tink Messenger Bag we bought Aldine? Well a day later we noticed one of the straps pulling off w/ exposed threads and she really wasn’t carrying anything heavy in it, so DH was able to exchange it for a new one. Plus I hadn’t thought of it at the time of our purchase, but many stores offer the incentive extra purchase when you spend so much…kwim? Well DH doubled checked and yes we could get the Mickey WDW black duffle bag I had been eyeing, so we decided to come back later on the way out to pick it up. COOL! (like we seriously need another bag)

After taking some pictures and looking around in the Fairy Garden:

Aren’t these little housestoo cute, wouldn’t you like to shrink and live in one of them!

And walking thru the Butterfly tent:

Alice liked it in here.

We headed over to Universe of Energy.

100_2729.jpg

The kids have never been on this yet, and it had been along time since either Matt or I and parents had too. I was going to check the time when the next group was to enter, but as we were walking up I saw a huge crowd exiting so I knew it was fine to enter the back of the line. On our way into line we saw this cool band playing the end of their bit and watched:

100_2727.jpg

Plus I took a few other pictures:

100_2728.jpg

100_2731.jpg

Michael was a bit antsy in the line waiting to go in, but not horrible, once let in we sat in the pre room till we were told we had to stand up and saw the pre-cursor story of Ellen and her wishes to be on Jeopardy and beat her friend JLC. We then entered the ride cars and Ellen’s Dream w/ Bill Nye the Science Guy. It was a cute ride and I think the older kids enjoyed themselves and were interested by it, but this isn’t one attraction to do every trip because it is so long. My Dad said he even dozed off a few times, now mind you it wasn’t so much that it is boring but that’s just my Dad, before he retired from the USPS, he would remark he’d fall asleep at his computer :surfweb: / his finger on a keyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

And wake up to see something like that....

Up next we headed toward the countries via the Odyssey Center pathway and took a restroom break and I changed Margaret’s diaper again here.

So up next was Mexico….OLE’

Join me next w/ the 3 Caballeros as we search for Donald Duck :donald: …si’

Thanks for reading,

Scrappie (J-)
