The meal was really tasty but our concern was with Shyann who sipped a little soup broth and sprite. Derek ordered his dessert to go and Shy also got a dessert with her meal....I don't remember what we got (a gluten-free brownie I think). The waitress bagged up the desserts and Derek left with Shyann to take her back to the resort. They would come back to meet us for dinner.

Our waitress was really good and told the kids "stories" about their dad through out the meal. When we cleaned our plates (ate everything including the vegetables), we got a sticker stating we were part of the clean plate club! We were very thankful in how they handled things with Shy and our family and we showed our appreciation with a very nice tip. I still will probably write in to Disney to also let them know about the wonderful service.

Christmastime at WDW is unbelievably magical. We've seen both coasts' parks during the holidays and WDW just blows it out of the water to us. Every resort is decorated, Osbourne Lights, sleigh riding through the Wilderness Campgrounds, Gingerbread houses and carousels, etc......you need a few extra days to see all the resort decorations!

I'd love to go some day to see it.....might have to wait until we don't have as many kids at home.

Nice update. I know you mentioned Shy getting sick so much. What a bummer for both her and you all! We tried Prime time once I think and it was ok but nothing that amazed me. I know it is more for the fun but wasn't something that stood out in my mind but glad you had a nice meal and that they were so good to you about Shy!! Food looks good!

Our first experience, the food was good but our waiter was kind of a dud......the food is like what my mom would make for a Sunday dinner......it's that kind of food. (which we like) This time the food & the waitress was good!!

Shy had a rough time :(

Oh, definitely! We waited 7 years to finally go back. That was in 2012 and we've been to either WDW or DL/DCA every year since. Not sure that'll work in 2016, though.

I think disney does a fantastic job with allergies. I'm allergic to shellfish and I've always been impressed with the chefs at nearly all of the restaurants. I have an epi pen but I don't ever want to have to use it!

It seems like there was always someone out of sorts when the kids were little on vacation. You do a great job of rolling with the punches. Not much else that can be done, though, right?

Disney has always done us very well with all of our allergies. We had 4 of the 8 people with their own allergies: Mike~~Cashews/Pistachios, Addy~~Tree Nuts, Me~~Gluten, Coconuts & Shy~~Gluten/Egg (she can small amounts of these), Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Sesame & Sunflower Seeds. We never had any issues!

Thank you, rolling with the punches is pretty much how we work on a day to day basis. Autism is not predictable....we can go days & even weeks with no issues and then it rears it's ugly head & lots of frustration, anxiety, etc.

I leave for WDW in 96 Days for my 2nd Trip and my Mother's first trip! I am thoroughly enjoying the pictures and reading about your adventures!

Yea I agree that the food is good but for me I eat that kind of food at home so I like things I wouldn't normally eat. A little more exotic but the place is def fun and the food IS good. We did it once and we enjoyed it but I am really anxious to try the Brown Derby. We have done Hollywood and Vine and the Sci Fi drive In. Looking forward to trying something new. We also have tended to go to some of the same places that we like but I am going to try and do some new stuff next year.

LOVE all of the pics and updates. Your children are each so gorgeous and watching them enjoy Disney really brings a tear to my eyes. I have worked with children in foster care in the past and I know how much of a dream this life you have created for them is. I'm sure you feel they also make your dreams come true as well...I can see both in all of these pics. Enjoying it very much!

I've looked at the Brown Derby menu but we have never gave it serious thought (partly after I read about someone eating there and seeing a rat run through the restaurant!!) :scared1:

Thank you! They have definitely filled our hearts & homes!!

Awwww, I am so sorry to hear that Shyann wasn't feeling well. I don't think that stroller looks comfortable at all.

I loved 50's last time we were there. It is so nice to see how they took such good care of Shyann and the rest of your family! Derek is such a nice brother for taking her back to the resort. I can't imagine walking around the park with a tummy like that. :(

No the stroller just didn't work & we would look at getting a wheelchair next time.

50's definitely took care of us & her.....very nice!

Derek, as he put it "I've been here since February & have been there, done that". Our trip would have really been a different experience if Derek hadn't been finishing up his 3rd go round on the college program. If it was "his trip" too.......our plans would have drastically been changed. We were extremely grateful that he did this (and as you continue along with the trip you will see it was needed more times).

How did you like the gluten free meatloaf and food?..we have a trip planned for next June and I have to be gluten free... Sorry about Shyann....that's so nice your son could help!

I don't have any complaints on any of the gluten-free food I got on this trip. Disney is very good in dealing with the different allergies & the food is tasty. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!!! :)

Derek was a rock star!!

Well I wouldn't take that into too much consideration. We saw mice at the New Orleans Cafe at DL. And if there IS a rat at the Brown Derby then chances are they are at the others too but hopefully that was some kind of weird fluke. I can't believe a company as large as Disney doesn't have to pass MANY health inspections. And sadly I think if we saw what went on in a lot of kitchens not just at Disney but just normal restaurants we would probably never eat out ever LOL. I try not to take one or two bad reviews seriously. If EVERYONE was saying it was horrible then I would prob not go but just like with hotels there is always going to be someone who complains. I guess we will find out next summer and hopefully not have a little friend joining us for our meal LOL ;)

Derek had left with Shyann to go back to the resort and we headed to the Beauty & the Beast~Live on Stage. Wow, wow, wow!! Loved this show! Well done with the story, the singing & the dancing. Out of all the shows we saw at Hollywood Studios, this would be the one I would recommend seeing!

I pretty much wrote it off, as this is not uncommon around food.....but we just haven't looked at it as a place for us to go.

One more post of the Beauty & the Beast~Live on Stage show.

Very sweet at the end of the show, Belle & Prince Adam each hand a rose to a child in a wheelchair in the front row. (We sat in the w/c seating at the top of the theater)

That show looks fantastic! I was on the fence, having seen big theater productions of the musical before. But that looks simply amazing.
