Wet, Sweat, Fun & Sun But You Have HOW Many Snack Credits Left?

Man that is really dissapointing about Kona. I can't remember if we ate there or not but we love Ohana and have done that twice. I'm sorry that happened. Love all your pics though!!

I wouldn't stay in the Bay Lake Towers......Derek said there is a huge crack at the top because the ground has shifted/settled......you would think they would have planned for that in the "swamp"......lol It's not that old!!

Poly is the only Deluxe that interests me....everything else is to fancy. It's not our style......
We would LOVE to stay at the Poly but golly, it is expensive! Animal Kingdom Lodge looks nice but it's so far out of the way of everything........Wilderness Lodge is awesome! We stayed there about 19 years ago....the pool is very fun and it's nice taking the water taxi to MK!

Port Orleans looked nice....we didn't get to see much, but that would be my moderate choice. I would NEVER stay at the Boardwalk.....I hate clowns and that pool would creep me out!!! :scared1:
I would like the convenience to Epcot if staying at Boardwalk Inn. That is a fun area with lots of things to do and good restaurants to choose from. Not terribly fond of clowns, though! Our last visit to WDW was Dec 2012 and we stayed at POR......and it was a beautiful resort. I highly recommend it. This trip we are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort.

So as I started eating my breakfast, Derek noticed that my egg yolk was super watery/runny where his "flowed like lava" (Chef Ramsey quote)....well unburying my meal from the arugula, I realized my eggs were raw. Like the whites weren't white.....they were clear, snot-like.......GAG!!!!! We let the waiter know & showed him all the different spots of clear egg whites on the dish and he said he'd be getting me a new plate cooked immediately. As I waited, Derek started pulling egg shells out of his dish (and mouth......gag, gag, gag!!). He didn't want to return his and just picked through it. As everyone enjoyed their meals....I sat and sat and sat. I finally got my new dish as everyone else was pretty much done. The 2nd dish was cooked and tasty but to be honest with you, our experience had been ruined.

This was one of my favorites from my trip in 2013 and I was really disappointed this go-round. The table was too small for our party, especially with a wheelchair, the waiter was overloaded so service was slow (not his fault), the raw eggs, egg shells and long cook times on a redo made this breakfast not a good experience. I'm not sure how quick I would be to return.....which is too bad as the Samoan is a really good meal!

Oh no! I'm hoping dh wants the Samoan because I want to taste it....but I prefer my eggs cooked. I'm definitely gettting the Tonga Toast because it's one of my favorites. I sure hope we have better service, though. I understand it's hit or miss there lately, which is a shame. I love their coffee press too :) Our reservation is at 7:30 am and I want to get to MK as early as possible.

It was disappointing as it was one of the meals I was most looking forward to again.

I've never made it over to the Wilderness Lodge, but pics remind me of the Grand Californian and I'm one of the few that isn't impressed by it. For me it's too dark.....the rooms are also smaller than the other 2 resort hotels.

So order the poached eggs to be medium cooked (which is supposedly how they should be, but these barely hit the pan).

I forgot we had this picture of some of the egg shells in Derek's breakfast at Kona Café......it's a bit blurry but you will get the idea.

Hi There! Would have been here a lot sooner, but it's been a long work week, and I seem to only keep myself only sort of caught up on my own thread. But Ahhhhhh, a couple of days to catch up and relax here over the weekend.

Your pictures of the Poly are great! I was lucky enough to stay there last trip for 2 nights and loved every minute! I ADORE the BGM, and all of the various bromeliads and fun Tiki pix you can get. :)

I also think it's super awesome that you got to do SO many modes of travel and routes on your first day. That was a super great idea to get the kids eased into the trip and give them a teaser or parks and rides, etc...

So sorry your breakfast was yucky at Kona. :( Ours was fantastic, but that was 4 years ago. Sad it's gone downhill.

I'm not getting my notifications for your thread.....ugh!! I'll have to look it up again & try and catch up when I get a few minutes.

I'm still in love with the Poly but not a fan of them losing their unique lobby to make it a typical big fancy hotel lobby. I'm hoping to go back in a couple years with just Mike & maybe we can swing a couple nights there.

We still have more modes of travel to come!! It was great taking the first day off and doing this. Got the kids excited, they got to see and ride on new things and we didn't feel over tired.

I LOVED Kona in 2013......one of my favorite meals but this time they bombed. I'm not usually one to complain, but I may write in on our experience. I think they need to be aware of the issues so hopefully they can fix them.

Bummer on the bad breakfast experience!! But that security guard photo was too funny! lol.

Sorry to hear about the meal but the food looks good. We ate Kona in December and it was good. The photobomb was hilarious :rotfl2:

The food was good (when it was cooked) but the overall experience was not good. We loved the photobomb too!!

Wow, I am so late to the party! So great that the kids traveled so well! The help you got with TSA is great also- on our May trip United offered TSA help as with me in the wheelchair (still pretty early after my achilles op) and bags and stuff to handle, DH happily accepted.
The pictures if the kids with Derek are great.
The Poly is the Deluxe that I would stay at too, maybe in a few years if DH and I can sneak away but I doubt DD would let that happen, as we love Hawaii. Sad that the waterfall is gone- would have loved to see that. I wonder why they would think it ok to put you at such a small table?

PS- going to need your help- as you can see below WE HAVE A TICKER going!! Haven't been to DL for 5 years- lots has changed

After getting off the Ferry Boat at the Magic Kingdom, we headed back to the bus stops. Our next destination was Old Key West to catch one of the Sassagoula River Boats to Disney Springs aka Downtown Disney. On the bus, we passed by Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter before arriving at Old Key West.

We saw the boat just docking when we got off the bus so we made a quick walk over to the docks. The family went down the stairs to let the Captain know we had a wheelchair coming. **If you have a wheelchair, you have to go all the way to the end of the dock to find the w/c ramp where you wait for the Captain to come and walk you down the dock back to the boats. You will be able to stay in your chair/scooter**

These were taken as we floated through Old Key West and down the river.

The Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs.

The moss hanging from many of the trees is actually a parasitic plant that latches on to a host tree and then drains it of all of it's nutrients, killing off the trees.

Saratoga Springs:

The new Boathouse Restaurant have these interesting car-boats.

As we neared Disney Springs we saw the Characters in Flight Balloon.

When we got off the boat, Derek ran into a former co-worker.

Well you're here now!!! The kids did really good and having the TSA expedite the process was helpful.

This is the original we loved!!

I'm not sure about the 6 top table either since the reservation clearly stated 8 people & 1 of them in a wheelchair. There were only place settings for 6 people too.

YAY!!! I missed the ticker before I hit reply......when are you going??? I'll be there the end of February!!

Random pictures as we wandered through Disney Springs.

Another look at the car-boat at the Boathouse Restaurant.

The dinosaur bones in front of the T-Rex Restaurant.

Disney Springs also has a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in the World of Disney Store.

More pics from Disney Springs.

We spotted this and decided a sweet snack was in order.

We went inside & it was a little busy, so we decided on what to get and then I sent the rest of the family out to find us a place to sit. Mike took these pictures while I was ordering.

They couldn't find a table so they were sitting on a cement ledge. After I ordered, I went outside to find them. We kept an eye on the tables & we saw one open up, so we went and grabbed it.

We were across the lake from the Rainforest Café and their volcano.

We ordered The Earthquake (which they said feeds 4). It's 8 scoops of assorted ice cream, 8 assorted toppings, bananas, whip cream & cherries. (we left off the nuts) I can tell you it was enough for the 7 of us!

We had Tony finish it off......lol

We headed to Goofy's Candy Co. so everyone could do a "Create-Your-Own Candy". You pick a rice krispy treat, marshmallows or gingerbread cookie, next you pick your chocolate (white, milk or dark), then what candy to dip in (things like mini M&M's, Oreo cookie crumbs, sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc) and then you pick your chocolate drizzle on top (white, milk or dark). While our creations were being made, Mike got these pictures.

Anyone need a gi-normous Minnie or Mickey Rice Krispy Treat?? ($49.99)

Watching the treats being made.

I love this one!!

More from Goofy's Candy Co.

The kids had fun with the whacky mirror.

Finishing up in Disney Springs.

We got on the bus back to Pop Century.

The Reedy Creek Fire Department.....we called it the Lego Firehouse.

Back at Pop!!

OMG those treats sound amazing, but I don't think we will be making it over to DTD this trip? Are there any "choose your treat" shops in the parks?
