Westjet help
I have a bunch of Westjet Dollars that are ok
BUT
I have some residual money (left over from a cancelled trip) however that looks like they will expire in March.2022.( In a Travel Bank)
Can I use them up to book a trip for my son ,,even if I am not on the flight?
I also have 2 companion passes that I'm sure will expire too....so sad.

Thank in advance Mel

YES - you can book a trip for anyone with your travel bank. I just booked a trip for my daughter's friend, on my bank funds. She's not even related!

I'd suggest you consider converting your expiring companion passes to Lounge passes. I believe that may extend the benefit for another year. Maybe just try converting one and see if it gives you an extra year. IF you feel lounge access is a benefit. It most definitely was for us. We've just travelled from Vancouver to Montreal via Calgary (the BEST lounge/layover ever!) and from Montreal to London via Toronto (so-so Plaza Premium lounge experience).

The nice thing about companion passes is, if you get them because of annual credit card allocation, even if they expire, you know another is around the corner. The ability to change some to lounge vouchers, for us, was a real bonus. Hopefully next year we'll be able to fully take advantage of the companion fares, instead of the lounger vouchers!

I would probably try to call WestJet (I know it's a mess, maybe ask for a call back since it's not a rush?) and ask for them to extend your companion vouchers. While you technically can travel right now, the government is still saying to avoid all non essential travel, so hopefully they'd extend the expiry of your companion voucher by a year or even 6 months. I feel like a lounge pass doesn't have the same monetary value.

I have send a message on twitter to WJ to ask about expiring companion tickets. I did ask a few months ago when we were fixing another booking and they told me no they were not being extended but lets hope they have changed their mind. I have one that is before the increase in the comp fare so I would like to keep that one...

Lounge Vouchers

Can my friends or family use the vouchers without me?

No, they must be accompanied by the member that owns the vouchers.

Can I transfer my new lounge vouchers to someone else to use?
No, please see full terms and conditions for RBC lounge vouchers.
  • Lounge access - RBC vouchers may be used by the cardholder and their accompanied guests. Guests/companions may only use the lounge voucher when accompanied by the primary cardholder and taking a same-day WestJet flight from the same airport. If cardholder already has access to lounge through Platinum, Gold or Silver status, Lounge access - RBC vouchers may be used for additional guests.

Oh well.

Hugs
Mel

****I will see if I can get my other companion voucher extended.

I am tempted to swap one of our comp vouchers over to use in Calgary for our long layover but am not sure if we would get much time to use it. Our plane lands around 5:30pm and it closes at 9:30pm. I also seen somewhere but can't find it now that you can only go in a few hours before scheduled flight and we don't actually fly out of Calgary till 11:15pm that night..

I just got a reply on twitter and they told me WJ Companion Vouchers are not being extended again.

Sadly, it does not look that way...

When do the lounge vouchers expire?
The lounge vouchers will have the same expiry date as the original Annual World Elite companion voucher.

Well shoot!!!... Maybe I will try to exchange one of mine and see if we can use them for our layover. They are going to be wasted either way so might be worth a shot.

🤞🤞. Hope it works out! We have TWO vouchers which will expire before we can use them. We got the card right as knockdowns started (great timing 🙄) plus we still have Delta credits to use...

That makes me so mad for everyone that is being affected by this. I wonder if they get enough bad press about it if they'd change their mind? It's not like people are choosing to not use their vouchers...
