Employment Counsellor coming out:

PHONE THEM BACK!! YES ABSOLUTELY. If you want the job that is. I have known several employers to hire the first person to phone them back after the cut off date because that person has shown that they were really interested in the job.

And if you didn't get the job ASK WHY NOT... What could you improve upon so that next time there is an opportunity you can make sure you are what they are looking for.

You always want to know why you didn't get the job so you can fix it for next time. I had one client who wasn't getting any bites on her resume time and time again despite having lots of qualifications for the jobs she was looking for. As it turned out she had a few spelling mistakes on her resume she kept overlooking, but employers were worried it was a sign of sloppiness. Fixed the typos and she started getting hits. Sometimes it can be right under your nose, but until you ask for the information, you might keep missing it.

Ok employment counsellor mode off...

I really can't decide what to do. I have a feeling they aren't calling b/c of my disability my handwriting is HORRIBLE. I turned in a Resume too but they still make you fill out the enitre application by hand. I have almost unreadable handwriting. I have seen the manager a few times and she seems ok but none of the employees are very friendly. They don't greet anyone or speak unless you look directly at them, once you start a conversasion they seem nice though. Of coarse I talk to anyone and love going in there. I MAY call tomorrow.

Well, the crazy weather seems to be everywhere! Nutty.

No kidding - the zoo director commented on how they had been having this event for like 15 years and it's never rained and in San Diego no one has a back-up plan for bad weather.

Oh and Gaylean, one thing about an Alaskan cruise ...

The sun stays up a lot longer.

It's 9:55pm here and I would say that dusk has finally just hit us. Still plenty of light to be outside by. Alaska would be much more light.

Holly good luck, sounds like romance is in the air.

Sorry. I kind of wondered why they were gone so long before he came and asked for money. Ethan wanted to email wilson but I can't find the card.

wilson doesn't check his email anyways, so I wouldn't suggest using it. Maybe they can be old fashion pen pals? Would Ethan like that? I bet Wilson would. I'll ask him tomorrow.

Nan,

Tell Paul I hope he's better soon.

I will tell him and since he has been bugging me to get off the DIS I hope he "gets" why I like to be here, you are all my friends and I like to chat and share what's going on with you and hear about what's up with you too.

More sicko talk. Wilson was complaining and crying about ear pain, so we called urgent care and had him seen tonight. Doc tells us his ear drum is retracted and then he looked at his chart (love the digital age) shows he was in last week for sore throat, yup told him the cruise crud story and I came off with walking pnemonia doctor says time to give Wil an antibotic to make sure that his 2 + week old cough is nothing more. (& likely his ear will be infected shortly, as we've gone this route many times before with him) so, now Wil is on drugs along with me and Paul.

Molly is still fine.

okay off to tvland for me. night:cloud9:

Wow!

I'm just excited to see him and catch up on who we've each become over all these years. :thumbsup2

Poor Wil. And Paul's ear sounds so awful. I hope everybody gets better quickly and that Molly remains healthy. :goodvibes

I can't believe I'm still up. Have to get some sleep so I can get up for work in 6 hours. Still have to scrub the bathroom and vaccum. Will do both in the morning, then will pick up the remaining stuff in the living room after work in the hour before Steve gets here tomorrow. He told me not to bother cleaning because he says he's not coming to judge how messy my house is. I thought that was cute, but still can't let it be too messy. My plan is to scoop stuff up and throw anything lying around into my bedroom or Tyler's bedroom and shut those doors to hide stuff. :rotfl2:

Goodnight all!

I keep forgetting to post this. When I went back to work, I had to work by myself since everyone quit. Everytime I came out of the backroom I looked for green lanyards and people I knew. I thought one of ya'll might just pop-up around the cornor like on the ship. You didn't though.:worried:

It was great "knowing" so many of you. One night I went to the show alone and there was Cheri alone too. I didn't have to watch the show alone after all (DH was napping). It was like that everywhere. I saw Deb and Jackie alot and they kept me informed on what was going on. It never failed everytime I needed a picture of Matt and I, up popped Ken. And can't forget our tablemates. I sat at the table the other night and all I had to talk to was my cat. It was great getting to know everyone and DH surprised me by booking another cruise!

Here is a question I answered regarding Palma Sola - I am copying it here so that you can see the trail - nothing super dangerous but the walk up was definitely hard to do.

OK - back to Palma Sola - if you and your kids are active - this shouldn't be a problem. However, please be smart and take lots and lots of sunscreen. We got there about early afternoon and we sweated way too much. Take a hat - you will need it. There is only one bathroom at the entrance and you are only given 5 minutes (supposedly) to use it - of course, the woman take forever and I would take TP or kleenex just in case. The bathroom were in working order and they did have TP but I was at the head of the line.

Bathrooms were clean but they did not have paper towels to dry your hands. If you go in August - you shouldn't have a problem with drying your hands.

Again, I would recommend this one - especially for kids over the Sierra Madre Hike. That one is a bit more difficult and the entire hike is single file which makes it just a bit harder to keep an eye on the kids. Also, starting June it hits mosquito season so you will want to take mosquito repellant for either one of these journeys.

Here is a sample of the rock trail -

This is the beginning of the trail and the walking sticks are mandatory. Also forgot to mention that you cannot touch the rock carvings. This is stressed several times. Reason - the oils on your hands can damage these carvings and some of these date back to 2500 BB - 500 years before Christ. A lot of the early (lower) carvings are really hard to see but you can take a picture of the signs and then the rock to make out what you see.

Here is a sample of one of the carvings:

This is one of the better ones - so I hope this helps your decision - remember the mosquito repellant - SUNSCREEN a must and water!

FYI - INAH displaced many of the locas that lived here some years back and the property is now considered an archealogical preserved site. But much damaged was already done by the people that lived here for many years. Since then, they take great pains to avoid human contact even though the carvings are exposed to air - but of course you all know that! LOL - Look at me - trying to preach to the choir. :headache:

Finally got back onto the disboards. Still way back on page 25 - will get caught up tomorrow. I was supposed to do some work tonight, but reading disboards was much more relaxing.::yes::

It was great to see so many people on the ship. Loved :thumbsup2 the lanyards. Always tried to smile& say hi at anybody with a dis-lanyard. Some would smile back and some not:confused3 . Scottishwee, so sorry you had some bad experiences - I thought you always looked so happy and friendly everytime I saw you.:)

When Ken (MFQ) first started getting into the dis stuff, I wasn't unsure about it, but I am so glad he got into this and got me into it. I had a fantastic time out drinking and dancing on Mothers Day night! It was great walking around the ship and being able to chat with different people.

Will definitely do another cruise, aiming for 2010 - Hawaii would be great! We've been home one week and still haven't got things unpacked and put away. The living room is one giant pile of laundry - oh well, that's what weekends are for.

Ken's just pointed out that I'm typing lots, so time to end it and say Goodnight. Will be back on again tomorrow to try and get caught up in this thread.

Glad I could help. Let me see if I can help one more time.

Here is a pic I took from the Cliff Divers in Acapulco.

Thanks - would love to see more pics if you have them. I was reading your blog about this one and the Sierra Madre Hike - you got guys more exercise in one excursion than I did the whole cruise :scared1:

I don't know that I would have been able to do that hike. Humidity and high temps mixed with exercise = asthma for me.

I uploaded all my pictures to photobucket last night but as luck would have it - they are all jumbled so now the pictures that I took in order - i.e. - I took a picture of the sign, the explanation and the actual carving and they are all jumbled.

Your right, the guide did mention that if you have asthma you might want to reconsider the excursion. There was one lady that was all flustered and red cheeked by the time we got out of the van , everyone and I mean everyone including the guide kept asking her if she was alright. She said she was the she naturally got  with any type of activity. I'm sure she got tired of everyone asking her if she was ok by the time we hit the top of the mountain - even I was pretty flustered. Just glad we did it in May and not in August.

BTW, I will post more pictures later.

Do we recognize any Disers in this pic at Minnie's fiesta party (Mexican night)?

So we both want to do Hawaii but Ken is trying to talk me into Alaska :confused3 I think he doesn't want us on the same cruise!

The humidity was bad for the asthma for me and Ethan on this cruise and we didn't do anything but walk and swim!
