Gaylean, diddo!!!!

Sorry to anybody I didn't say hi to, but having a slight stutter and being slightly shy I didn't quite get as brave as I wanted to on the ship. :(

Pj

I didn't even notice you had a stutter when we spoke!

Well, I'm really glad we finally got to meet! I was worried I was going to go the whole cruise without meeting my fellow Canadian (even if you are from Tranna ;) )!

:rotfl2: I think I might have looked like I was avoiding people sometimes, but I was almost always just in a hurry to either chase after Tyler who was way ahead of me and running at top speed, or in a hurry to answer the page from the kids' club asking me to get him out of there, or to rescue Heather or somebody who may have been trying to hold him still for a few minutes. That kid wore me out.

I think that is how we saw most people - we were heading somewhere or they were. Often ran into people in Shutters too!

Haven't done the P and P yet, really really really want to, lol.

Pj

It was great! I don't think it was as good as MNSSHP but it was certainly a really fun evening. We went the day before embarkation on the cruise and it was a great way to say goodbye to WDW. Although it did make it difficult to get up in the morning to head to the port. I do highly recommend it. I did notice thought that there were far less adults dressed up than at the MNSSHP, but LOTS of kids were dressed to the nines.

Kelly, Great job! The lanyards were just perfect. I would not have changed a thing.

Woody

I agree :thumbsup2 They are awesome!!

Our friends who were on the cruise loved having them too. They said they enjoyed meeting people and the green lanyards made for a nice ice breaker. They said they met a lot of other people who were "Dis'ers by Association".

Well I hope to get to go to a post meet. With my dumb luck I will have to work. I do know I will be at DL on Friday, next Thursday to preview Toy Story, and the Thursday after that for the opening of Toy Story. Maybe we will run into each other.

We might be there next Friday. I'll post when we know for sure.

Brooke keeps telling me I'm mean because she missed too much school and she doesn't want to go to summer!

Shaelyn was telling me she was upset today because she missed the releasing of a butterfly at school.

Apparently while she was away they were learning about butterflies at school (all of her homework on the cruise was to do with butterflies and keeping a journal). As I understand that had a cocoon at school they were watching and I guess it "hatched" while she was away and they released the butterfly.

I asked her if she would have rather gone to school or gone on the cruise and she said "I want to do both".

Hmm maybe time to create a floating school! LOL

Hi guys!!

I am feeling better....but still have a little way to go.

DC has had bad tornados today and tonight. Gretcehn and Annie go to different schools and both schools had to go into "tornado position" or 45 minutes each. In the hallway, on their knees, with their arms over their head. No damage right in Centreville, but 10 miles away people did die!!

I think I heard there are about 1,000,000 people without power in DC Surburban MD and Surburban VA.

Schools in to neighboring counties have already closed for tomorrow. Fairfax County is still open tomorrow at this point.

Glad to hear you are feeling better and that you are all safe

Hey Lisa! :wave2:

Photobucket is cooperating tonight so I am downloading some pictures and will post them here unless no one is posting here. But tell Darrell I will post some pictures if you really want to see them. :)

Definitely post them. We had really wanted to do this but with the times being wrong online we didn't want to do an evening excursion.

I'll look for them in the morning - time to go to bed.

Night all!!

We are doing the same thing so we thought the butterfly farm would be perfect...but NO, the princess needs school :confused3

The bad news is that one of her friends lost her mom to cancer :( the doctors kept saying she would be fine but she wasn't. They never told the baby that her mom was even sick so the whole class is really shocked. Brooke keeps saying if she would have been there she could help the little girl. I try to tell her that nothing will make it better but she doesn't believe me.

Shannon liked to write on my dry erase board because she knew I didn't read the nav enough. I did want to go to High School Musical. Thank you Shannon. Where is she anyway?

Up to her eyeballs in work. They have had some issues at her plant while she was away and now she has to get right down to the grind. There was a massive fire in Prince George (where I work) and it destroyed quite a few businesses, one of which was a warehouse where Shannon's plant stored some board. So she has to head up to Prince George on Friday (where I am right now in fact) and take a look at the damage. Plus she has to deal with some other changes at the plant.

Bottom-line: she has been quite busy and not able to get online.

Don't worry, I've been keeping her up to date on what is going on when I get the chance to be online.

I just wondered because a few of the people I was interested in contacting never posted again. I knew she would NEVER do that to me! What happened with that job she wanted?

I went back and forth about getting lanyards that were bigger for pins, but the one thing we learned last year was that we got hot, sweaty and ichy with the wider ones. It was a tough choice though. :confused3 I also really like the ziplock badge holders, but some of them break, so I went back and forth on that too. So many decisions!!:surfweb:

Kelly, as others have said they were perfect. Much more comfortable than the wider lanyards and I liked the open top of the badge holder because I could easily put other things in there (my license, credit card, etc.) Made it really handy!

I really loved having the Mini-Mav to look up those that I needed to chat with and get stuff around the ship as it was.

That was so handy! I carried mine with me every day and made notes in it so I could remember what I did each day!

now you are just making it a walk in the park for us. Monterey is a half day trip stay trip, which means we can go anytime it's that close and easy...
I may have an in for some passes to the aquarium. seems a boy, wilson and a girl, molly have memberships courtsey of their auntie :moped: :moped: :moped: let's go!

I've been to Monterey and the aquarium only once and I loved it!

Steve,

We're looking into it, though Sukie read somewhere that one would have to be a resident of California, similar to the situation with MA.

Still, we're planning a trip out to DL very soon.

You'll let us all know, right? Maybe Jackie and/or I can come out and see you!:thumbsup2

Rumor has it that Tom McAlpin is a lurker.

Woody

Interesting! :smokin:

We went to Alaska 5 years ago on Royal Carribean Radience of the Seas and the pool had a dome over it. It was lovely. I don't know if the kid's pool was closed or what, I can't remembe.....too long ago!

But it was a wonderful trip.....yes, we had to wear light jackets and long pants and shoes and socks when we were on the excursions, but mostly it was nice. The day we were at the glacier was cold, but the crew brought out cocoa, coffee and blankets for us. It was worth it1 And I'd do it again!

That sounds like heaven to me!:lovestruc

I put in for the TS sneak preview for AP and I got drawn for Monday! If it had been later in the week, I might have been able to swing it. There's still a very slight chance that I'll get over there for it, but I'm not counting on it.

I love the "mean" teacher, those are usually the ones that are prepared and ready to help the child(ren) learn. Remember I'm a mean mom too.:rotfl:

Yup, we started it tonight and took Chinese food to the park.

sounds like a great salad, I'll have to look for it, I haven't seen it before.:thumbsup2

I find the broccoli slaw in the produce section, where they have the bagged, pre-cut broccoli, cauliflower, etc.

As far as the "mean" teacher thing--wow, some of you guys have had some bad experiences!:faint:

Hi Lisa, I've been wondering how you're doing, especially after hearing the news today. Thanks for checking in.

I would do both Hawaii and Alaska.

Actually the chatting the other night got me to looking at NCL for a Hawaiian cruise (Pride of America does a Hawaii only trip) and the excursions are very cool, I found several at each port that sounded very cool.

Pj

PJ, I did the Pride of Aloha last summer and really enjoyed it. PM me if I can answer any questions.

Yes that would be a lens that has a fixed focal length - no zoom.

The only real issue I had with it is that at 50mm you needed a lot of room to get some "larger" pics as it does have a closer focal length.

By "room" do you mean you sometimes have to physically back up since you can't zoom out with the lens? (I need things in simple terms ;) )

we are here
HI Gaylean!

Bubba has been asking for pictures so I'm in the process of getting some of those over to him. Tried to e-mail them but for some reason they are not going across. Now to find that disk I made.

I did however, post this picture of me attempting the Russian Dance in Rocking Bar D:

and here's another one of me keeping count of my "shots around the ship"

I am only posting these because I'm not sure if anyone would appreciate me posting evidence......um pictures. :teeth:

Ouch that's a tough one to deal with at that age. I got home to find out one of my staff members lost her husband to a heart attack, just a few days after having surgery to help with his having contracted cancer. You should take pride in having a daughter that is so eager to try and help her friends! That is so nice to hear that she really wanted to help her friend rather be on the cruise. Her heart is certainly in the right place. Congratulate yourself and Jon for doing the right things!

As for the butterlfies, we didn't know about the butterflies at school until we were leaving for the ship so we didn't bother with the butterfly farm excursion. I think there is a farm in Victoria so we may take the girls there this summer.

That is if we don't crash a party I hear is happening in Monterey. We did say we wanted to go back there when we drove through in 2005!

who can I ship Haley to first....

she wants her "him" ( and now, if I say what is Savannah's daddy's name - "I not care"....)
she wants her Sophie
she wants her Amy
she wants her PJ
she wants her John

Not sure of the order, it's become a song around here.

i wanna be on that list

you might be interested to know that Molly wrote "little sis" on her scooter today, since you are her "big sis"

seems we all have family that we'd rather have in our minds :goodvibes

shall we trade?

I had some nice conversations with strangers who asked me about the lanyards, or the "Ship of Thieves". They were a great conversation starter!
