I went back and forth about getting lanyards that were bigger for pins, but the one thing we learned last year was that we got hot, sweaty and ichy with the wider ones. It was a tough choice though. I also really like the ziplock badge holders, but some of them break, so I went back and forth on that too. So many decisions!!
Kelly, Great job! The lanyards were just perfect. I would not have changed a thing.

Are you sure that is why people avoided you? A LOT of people avoided me :lmao: :lmao: If it is, I'm sorry. I would go on a cruise with you anytime!
:rotfl2: I think I might have looked like I was avoiding people sometimes, but I was almost always just in a hurry to either chase after Tyler who was way ahead of me and running at top speed, or in a hurry to answer the page from the kids' club asking me to get him out of there, or to rescue Heather or somebody who may have been trying to hold him still for a few minutes. That kid wore me out.

I was chilly sometimes, too. Patrick is always cold, so he got the 2 extra blankets folded in half, because Chuck gets hot, and he was sharing with Patrick. I was on the sofabed, and I had to ask for a second blanket too.

Our room steward probably thought we were nuts.....I asked him hot to put the bedspread on the bed every day, because Patrick needed a nap in the afternoon, so the poor man was making the bed 3 times! I just tried to make things a little easier for him, since he was such a great person. I know the room stewards are friendly, but he was especially interested in Patrick and he always asked me what the schedule was for the day, etc.

I never picked up my blinky braids

Hey we never got to play Skip-Bo. Well maybe I will run into you one day at DL. I will be at the pin trading night at the PP Hotel with my cruise pins.

I did play a few mean games of skip-bo but we never played together. Too much time in Rockin Bar D, I guess. We probably will run into each other sometime at DL since I always seem to see people I know there. If we have a post meet we'll let you know!

Don't feel like that. We want everyone to post. I usually reply to most people unless I don't know what they are talking about. I went to the DL meet and the first meet on the ship so I couldn't comment. I REALLY wanted my lanyard!

Well I hope to get to go to a post meet. With my dumb luck I will have to work. I do know I will be at DL on Friday, next Thursday to preview Toy Story, and the Thursday after that for the opening of Toy Story. Maybe we will run into each other.

Steph - are you watching the Mole?

Darn it I wanted to watch this too.

I have been sleeping like a rock and now I have to catch up 20+ pages, just like old times, lol.

weird my mom booked bounce back rates for my step brother and I thought for me but his is in Dec and mine Oct - mine are rack rate - over $100 a night at pop.
I am either going to try and rent points or wait for Fl resident codes.

Ken- I was just looking at your pictures and saw the ones from the scavanger hunt. We never did get to do it and I am sad as the pictures you got are really good. We will just have to take another cruise now. Oh and you daughter actually told me hello one day! I was so excited she said something to me. It was great seeing you around.

Yes I was cold during the cruise. On deck watching movies I had a blanket and towels covering me up. All that you could see were my eyes. Wish we had gotten a pick of this but we didn't.

Steve,

We're looking into it, though Sukie read somewhere that one would have to be a resident of California, similar to the situation with MA.

Still, we're planning a trip out to DL very soon.

Even if you can't collect another license, we will have to get together to celebrate the newlyweds! Please remember you both always have a place to stay out here.

We went to Alaska 5 years ago on Royal Carribean Radience of the Seas and the pool had a dome over it. It was lovely. I don't know if the kid's pool was closed or what, I can't remembe.....too long ago!

But it was a wonderful trip.....yes, we had to wear light jackets and long pants and shoes and socks when we were on the excursions, but mostly it was nice. The day we were at the glacier was cold, but the crew brought out cocoa, coffee and blankets for us. It was worth it1 And I'd do it again!

So I will look forward to seeing you on the first Alaska DCL trip! Cool!

Yes, the nurse called me to gather more info and she will call me tomorrow to let me know if the doc will take Tyler as a new patient. The OT had me sign a release so that she could tell him everything she's seen because she thinks she can convince him to take him and to get him in quickly, rather than have to wait the couple months it usually takes to get in to any psych in town. :thumbsup2

Holly I don't think anyone thought you were avoiding them, you were just very busy. I am glad to hear that the psych may move quickly. Again, you may want to have Tyler checked for high functioning autism (asberger's syndrome (sp?)) That and the meds should help out too. As always, our hugs to you and know that you are doing a great job in taking care of Tyler.

I agree, a SoCal reunion meet would be very nice. And this time I can bring the boys.:rotfl:

Steve,

Still, we're planning a trip out to DL very soon.

Well, I still have $ on the rewards card (expires in Dec), a $20 Disney gift card and $15 in Disney Dollars AND some timeshare points to use up (Peacock Suites), so I could manage to pop over to DL. I was thinking about doing it right after the election for my birthday, BUT I could go sooner if there is a meet! :thumbsup2

KEN...I'll take a look at the link posted and correct it to the one that goes to the albums.

Nan, so glad to hear you are feeling better.

stopped work at 6:30...too tired to stay any later tonight....heading home for a pork chop dinner!

.

No worries. Enjoy. I used my 50mm prime lens for some of the shots in the WD Theatre rather than my super zoom. It has a much lower aperture setting which allows for better shots. The main reason why I bought it. I have, what I think anyhow, a great shot of John Charles singing his closing number at his final show I still have to put up.

I remember you telling me about that. I'm a little hazy on what that means. Is it just a straight 50mm, no zoom? Where would be a good place to get one? Thanks for the help!

I hope you are right. Thank you so much for saying this. It is strange but another teacher I know told me the same thing. I told her I was worried about 3rd grade because I hear it is a lot harder and she said that they are ready for it. I guess they mature a lot in 3rd grade.

As for Brooke, I'm a little worried because she isn't reading and writing as well as he was. I know I shouldn't compare but I thought 1st grade was rough for him so I worry if she'll get discouraged. She keeps telling me "I can't really read, I just look at the pictures". The teacher says it is normal but I remember when Ethan started reading and he could read signs and a lot of things without pictures. The teacher just asked me today which teacher I want for Brooke next year and I don't know what to say. Ethan's 1st grade teacher was mean BUT he learned a lot. He needed that. Brooke is REALLY good and quite and I'm afraid for her to have a mean teacher. I almost wish she wouldn't have asked me.

I always kind of chuckle when I hear a teacher referred to as "mean". Do you mean "strict"? For sure, different personalities of kids need different personalities of teachers! In my experience, it often happened that the oldest child picked things up earlier and quicker than the 2nd. If you want, I'd be happy to talk to you some time and share what I've observed over the years. You have my number so feel free to call any time!

What a cute pic of all of us!

ARUBA
I was wondering if anyone can post what they did in Aruba and what you thought of your choice? We are trying to figure what to do while in port here
Thanks

I did the sail and snorkel that ibouncetoo was referring to. I thought it was a great excursion and very reasonably priced. We had about 45 min. @ at 2 different spots. The catamaran ride was nice, too. We got the boat very close to where we exited the ship. We were back in time for lunch. If you like to snorkel, I'd recommend it!

well Deb.....don't tell anyone...but WE BOOKED SEPT 09!! (just the Tortola one) :cool1: Fingers (and everything else) crossed we make it this time.....another Champagne Girl get together is in order I think!

I missed so much from this cruise so I really do hope we get to go on this next one..plenty of time to save!::yes::

now to get that champagne girl back in my sig....:surfweb:

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Good thing I saved my Tinker Bell outfit! Next time I won't forget to wear my wings! Welcome aboard!

yes feeling better everyday. Just a little tired. I figure in another week and a half when the kids are out of school I'll be ready to GO, to the pool, to the movies, to the mall, to the beach...hmmmmm are you sensing that I don't wish to work this summer???

It sounds like all the things a fun summer is supposed to include!:cool1:

To those who have said "thank you" for your CG goodies - you're so welcome! I wanted us all (me included) to have something special to remember that meet with (not that we didn't have the pics or tiara :rotfl: ). I enjoyed making them and those were the 1st crafty things I was able to do since getting depressed last year. I knew that making those things for some amazing women was doing me wonders.

My teddy bear is now wearing my bracelet and my Tink is hanging right by the computer!

Mandy - sorry but I eavesdropped and "heard" you telling Deb that you booked the 9/12/09 cruise...WOOHOO!

Got a not so nice talking to by the Dr yesterday.....appears my nbrs are really pointing to my being pre-diabetic, so this weekend starts my new lifestyle. I know NOW that I HAVE to be better about what I eat and get my weight & sugar levels under control. Kaylee--I'll be re-reading that email you sent me ages ago (about the 7 day fast). I figured that would be a good way to cleanse everything before buckling down.

Started typing up my tr today....can't wait to be able to download/upload pics to it at home.

Looking forward to your report & pix, Monica! Good luck on your new regimen.

Oh Monica:

Sorry to hear that the doctor shared the bad news. I'm in the boat with you too, and CAN'T give up my potatoes.:( This summer hopefully will be the summer of the salad. Are you in?

Have you ever bought that broccoli slaw? I mixed a bag of that with some chopped apples and tuna, then used some of that spray on dressing (raspberry vinegarette)--it was very good! I also put in some walnuts.

It seems that a few people have expressed an interest in another 'long cruise' and Hawaii.....

Nancy has a major milestone of a birthday coming up in 2010, and has expressed interest (now that is putting it mildly) in going to Hawaii

How about we try and set up a reunion cruise for the 'possible' DCL trip to the home of 'DOG'...

My feeling is that most of us will need a while to recover from the last one....and it will give us lots of lead time to plan

Any thoughts???

Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

I actually made a point early on to go and say hi to people with the lanyards on and quite a few said they were just travelling with someone who was a Dis'er. Perhaps some of these people were the ones who didn't say hi.

I tried to say hi to the people I saw, too. It was sometimes embarrassing because I wouldn't remember that we'd already met! Yikes! Or I couldn't remember their names! At least I was being friendly, right?:rotfl:

I only have 2 regrets about the cruise......that we didn't schedule early dining and that we needed to go to sleep too early! I missed all the late night fun at the nightclubs!

Ok, I just thought of another one......MORE PHOTO'S OF THE FAMILY!

Yeah one time in Diversions you sat right behind us and didn't say anything. It looked like you needed a mommy time out so I didn't say anything!

I love the "mean" teacher, those are usually the ones that are prepared and ready to help the child(ren) learn. Remember I'm a mean mom too.:rotfl:

Yup, we started it tonight and took Chinese food to the park.

sounds like a great salad, I'll have to look for it, I haven't seen it before.:thumbsup2

:

I'm always happy to make you laugh but she was mean. He got on yellow everyday and after punishing him everyday for a 6 months she told me that yellow was just a warning. He has never been on yellow in 2nd or kinder. One time I was volunteering and a kid dropped a cookie. A little girl told the teacher and she said "I already know who did it". She made them do current events and they had to get the info from the internet. Some kids didn't have access so the parents had to go to the library. She actually got in trouble for that one. She told 8 parents of boys that their kid had ADD. That's a lot considering there is only 20 kids in the class. Brooke's teacher asked me who I wanted her to have next year and I said it didn't matter. She said "You don't want THAT teacher". The teachers even know. And she spoke to me about church a lot which I thought was weird. I thought it may be just me since we went to the same type of church but all the other parents complained about it too. There are little things I don't like about the other teachers they both have had but this one was strange. As a matter of fact I don't think Brooke's teacher is strict enough.

I forgot to say that one time she told me the Ethan flipped someone off. I told her that couldn't be true and that he points with that finger. She said no it wasn't that. I didn't argue but didn't know where he would get that from. She told me later "You were right about him, he really is a good kid and not ill willed at all.

Hi guys!!

I am feeling better....but still have a little way to go.

DC has had bad tornados today and tonight. Gretcehn and Annie go to different schools and both schools had to go into "tornado position" or 45 minutes each. In the hallway, on their knees, with their arms over their head. No damage right in Centreville, but 10 miles away people did die!!

I think I heard there are about 1,000,000 people without power in DC Surburban MD and Surburban VA.

Schools in to neighboring counties have already closed for tomorrow. Fairfax County is still open tomorrow at this point.
