How on earth did that happen? Our insurance that covers absolutely nothing just went up another $1000.
I called and asked! Seriously. I spoke with the mortgage company this morning and just asked how to go about getting a better rate, and this is the plan they came up with! And it's a fixed rate, so it won't go up.

Lesson learned: it never hurts to ask! :thumbsup2

AW! How sweet......I think she is such a lovely little girl! I guess I'll have to adopt her as my granddaughter......

She's cracking up!

Thats so true! In this day, lenders would rather accomodate current loans than have defaults. About a year ago, I called mine because they had a better rate and asked how to go about getting it and poof..it was done. No paperwork needed. Saved 1%...already had a low rate, but it was worth it. Same with credit cards..if you're not satisfied, just call up..if they say no at first, tell them you will close your account, but be preparred to do it, usually that works. Oh, and you need to have decent credit too...they'll check.

Yup, it really was that simple! :thumbsup2

Guess how much work I've done today.......ABSOLUTELY NONE! I've been at work 4 hours with NOTHING to do yet!

Ok Disneyland experts, I need your help! We are planning my mom's 70th birthday and the whole family (6 children, 11 grandchildren, 3 spouses, and one dad) will be meeting at Disneyland. We are considering the following hotels:
Sheraton Anaheim
Residence Inn
Marriott Suites
Thoughts of the above hotels??
We are going over Thanksgiving, thinking about the Thanksgiving dinner/buffet at the Disneyhotel. We want to make a few reservations as meeting places - maybe a show and then dinner. Can you make reservations for the shows at Disneyland/California park? What restaurants take reservations?

Also, does anyone know of anyone that would accept a donation in place of a reservation at Club 33? I thought that maybe someone might know someone that has membership and would be willing to make a reservation for us in exchange to us making a donation to the charity of their choice.

Finally, does anyone know if you can arrange for a group photo? Thanks so much all you Disney experts!
Lisa

Lisa,

I'm not a DL expert, but I can share our decision making process with you for our trip there in September.

We finally decided to stay at the Howard Johnsons. A big driver was being able to walk to DL, as we are not renting a car.

It was between the Howard Johnsons and the Candy Cane Inn. Both are very comparable and the same walking time.

Howard Johnsons won out based on size of room and cost. The room is larger and with an Entertainment Book discount, the cost comes down to $94 for a premium DL view room (you can get a standard room for $54).

If there are kids, they are in the process of redoing their pool area to include a pirate ship and other stuff. That work is scheduled to complete mid July.

Hi

Good Morning Sunshine here :goodvibes

I was reading deb wills's blob and her photos are so beautiful and short story about our Panama Canal Cruise.

Anyway, she was mentioned that Donny Osmond supposed to be on our Cruise but cancel it and last mins and change to Joey Fatone.

I cannot image if my idol Donny should be on our cruise. I should have a photo with him and augograph too. I will be in   Damn, he didnt make it as I am sure that he had the 50th family at concert in UK.

I hope he is NOT on Eastbound Cruise as I will be :badpc: :badpc: JEALOUS!!

WHAT?????????????????????????????

DONNY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON OUR CRUISE????????????????????????

oh man... now I'm so depressed!!! I would have given up dinner twice to see him!!!

(and they call it Puppy love...:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc )

I am sitting here, having breakfast and listening to Public Radio. They are doing pieces this week about the price of gas and it's impact on people. They are also doing pieces exploring how we arrived at this point, our dependence on gasoline.

Sukie and I were shopping this week, and I was standing next to the car waiting for him, while he was in a CD store.

A guy came up to me and started talking to me about Mrs. Fezziwig. He told me that he has and SUV and was spending $90 a week on gasoline to commute to work and was interested in something more economical, because he couldn't afford the commute anymore.

I take a CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) bus to work and commuter rail home. My roundtrip commute costs $4.10 a day or $20.50 a week, and I spend about $4.00 a week on gasoline, so while I'm aware of it, I don't pay that much attention.

I am wondering how all this is impacting people and how are you coping with it? This piece on Public Radio has really gotten me concerned about people, so I hope everyone is ok and coping.

I commute in my jammies....
other than that... i choke every time i have to fill up the car:worried:

Good Morning All!

Life with a Celebrity Part 3

Sukie attended a Mayor's reception yesterday evening, not related tot he documetary, he gets invited to these sorts of events all the time. He came home and told me that he had tons of people coming up to him, telling him that they had not realized he knew so much or was so eloquent.

Apparently the documentary has been a big fund raiser for the local PBS station. They are now considering doing a second documentary.

The people from the PBS station were there. They told Sukie that there was a bomb threat to the TV station as a result of the documentary. They evacuated the station, brought in the bomb squad.

It is actually a bit scary, I mean considering that we have strangers coming up to us in Home Depot and coming up to Sukie on the street. You never know what crazy people there are out there.

And I thought Planky was famous....

Tell Tallulah and Truman to be on alert - or at least wake up if someone rings the doorbell...

WAAAAY, off topic, but I have to share anyway: My mortgage just dropped from 9.25% down to 4.25%!!!!!!!!!!!! That reduces my monthly payment by $200.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:dancer: party: :dancer: party: :dancer:
:jumping1: :jumping1::jumping1:

Hi Michelle!

I'm starting to look at my company's postings to see if anything opens up for a virtual position (able to work from home).

Hi Monica!!!!

I had to think about that Virtual position for a minute... :rotfl2:

Unfortunately, since we are self employed they are not allowing any breaks what so ever. In fact, they are lowering credit card limits by 50% even with the highest credit rating possible and cc not at max rates. Several of our friends are having the same problem as self employed folks. As usual self employed people get the least financial benefits possible because we are high risk (even though we are entering our 14th year of business and are booked 2 years in advance.) They also don't forgive our county much for anything. Highest insurance rates of all of southern Cal. Forget the fact that our country is founded on entrepreneurs! Can you tell this fumes me?:furious:

When we asked you should hear the mountain of paperwork they wanted from us. Records for years and years.

working in my jammies!!!

I work from home... telecomuting... I guess is the newest word for it!!!

This may be a stupid ? but....do you have to have a 0.00 balance to close an account or can you make pymts and just not charge anything else?

you have to have a zero balance...so you have to be able to move stuff off the card. I've done that in the past, but only once. Everyother time, they've reduced the interest rate.

Keep in mind that when you close an account it lowers your FICO score and right now they are attacking FICO scores like crazy around the country. With the new evaluation of FICO scoring most people's rates lowered this past year even though they've done nothing wrong. With every inquiry of your credit your FICO goes down.

Good Morning.

Ian in reply.

Since Paul and I work from home we don't fill our tanks on a regular basis, just when they get empty from running around. I have found that I'm very sensitive to driving for pleasure. I'm still doing it just, thinking about it now. I dread to think what the costs are for Paul and Wilson driving to the race track (1.5 hours away) just this week Paul had a friend come over and he pulled the trailer with his truck and they split the gas. At least that helps.

Well since it's 11am should I go and walk up my darling daughter? She has started the teenage sleeping all hours routine. Oh well, there are worse thing right?

Well..I have had a great start to our summer. My daughter has turned a one night sleepover with her cousins into 3 nights. She just called to ask is she could stay again...love it. So I have been watching lots of movies at home, just me and the cat and the dog. I can recommend Jumper and The Other Boleyn Girl. I think I might read that book now.

Oh and we got our summer reading books for work and I was given "the 10 people who Suck: A positive prescription for improving communication in the workplace"

I like the title so it can't be all bad....;)
