Is anyone else as pissed at Disney as I am? I could not get discounted rates for my WL stay 11/27 to 12/4, even for any of those days at all. I wouldn't care if it weren't for those d@mn pin code numbers they were blessing select customers with. There is no way I'm going to pay $186 for my room when they handed out PIN codes for $121 a night for the same room!! I played all the games, I waited patiently for the codes to come out and had my Disney specialist
travel agent call first thing, and no codes for WL at all for those weeks. Why should Disney be the ones who decides who gets the discounts based on their "marketing" ploys?
I am bringing my DH to WDW for the 1st time, and he isn't thrilled about going. He'd rather go on a hiking or biking vacation, which we also enjoy. But I want to take the kids (6 and 4) to Disney. So, fair enough. We're saving $3500 to do it, more than we've ever spent on a vacation. I want him to have the best experience possible so that he'll want to go back. WL would give him that. It's has a woodsy feel, with all the timbers, etc. He would love to ride the boat to MK, and go over to Fort Wilderness. With that experience I really think he'd look forward to going back. If we can't stay at WL we'd have to stay at PO-R, which would just totally ruin it for all of us. I mean, it looks nice enough, but having to take a long bus ride to get to anywhere is not going to make for a happy husband (or me either for that matter).
But I'm not paying $186 a night when other people are paying $121!!!!!! Like I said, it would be one thing if it was "first come first served" and we missed the opportunity. But DISNEY is deciding who gets those discounts by their ridiculous marketing ploy, and that just doesn't cut it with me. And I'd still say the same thing if I had been given a code.
Anyway, am I alone? If we hadn't already told the kids we were going I'd scrap the whole trip. Seriously. Anyone have any great reccomendation for staying off-site?
