"We're going wild - Disney style" - A Oct 15-25th Pre-TR (10/12...for the ladies!)

Jumping in. DD8 and I stayed at AKL in Nov and she LOVED it. I had to drag her out of the room to go to the parks.

We'll be there the same time as you. I would love to stay at AKL again, but I don't think it's in the cards :(

A delayed :welcome:. Doesn't matter where you stay, any hotel means your at Disney!

OK. I resolved my dilemma, at least partly. Overexcited said it best, and I'm paraphasing "When you are not sure, try something new." So, I cancel the Akerhuis ADR for Sunday night, and I instead booked an ADR for 1900 Park Fare.

Without Akerhaus, I don't have to worry about the CC hold. Now the choice is between do we do 1900 Park Fare on Saturday night (our last night at AKL) or on Sunday night (the night of our "free day"). Whichever one we choose, I will cancel the other one. I apologize again to all the "no extra ADRs!" folks. Don't hold it against me!

I was listening to the Disboards Podcast today, and they were talking about all the things to do at MNSSHP, and it occurred to me that I probably should put together a time-specific plan for that evening, to ensure we fit in all the stuff we want to do. I will probably wait until the official 2010 Info comes out, but want to make sure to see the villian show, parade and fireworks, as well as at least a couple of the meet and greets.

Glad to help you make a choice, you sure have helped me make several!

I should listen to that pod cast, we are going to the party this year as well!

Actually, work has been very busy as well as real world, and I just haven't had much to say. I am in that pre-trip phase where you kind of have everything planned, but aren't really getting into the details yet.

I've been thinking a bit about MNSSHP plans. It seems like with all there is to do at one, you really have to have a strategy to make sure you do the things you want. Definitely want to see the parade / fireworks / villians show (though DD will probably hate that last one), also want to do a few Meet and Greets, but also want to squeeze in some trick'r'treating and rides as well. It's a lot to do in 5 hours, I see why some people do more than one party - though personally I can't see spending that much money.

How about you, I haven't seen any posts lately either...

Yea at the same stage. Nothing new to add, plus I returned to work after surgery. Mostly been lurking!
We are doing 1 MNSSHP but two would be expensive for sure, at least one is a must do in my opionion!

That's right!

2 Months
2 Weeks
and
2 Days

until our trip!

Last fall, we set-up a countdown calendar for 90 days! I think this time we're gonna do like three weeks.

So, they just announced (to the surprise of no-one) that the Main Street Electrical Parade has been extended. I was so sure of this, my spreadsheet already listed MSEP as the MK nightly parade.

This makes the likelyhood of us going to MK on our last evening at AKV very very high, as there are very few opportunities on our trip to go and see it. We would either that have to go on our FIRST day, which is also a possiblity, but maybe not a great one either.

It's only playing
Sat 10/16 9 PM
Mon 10/18 8 PM
Wed 10/20 8 PM
Sat 10/23 9 PM

Monday we have DD in Camp Kidani until 8 PM. Wednesday we have Le Cellier at 6 PM and I'm not giving THAT up...so that leaves the two Saturday night parades. I think we can wing it whether we want to go out for the first Saturday night parade...we don't have a very full day that day with plans to spend some time in the afternoon at the hotel. We have a 5:45 PM at Boma, but could head to MK afterwards if we wanted to.

Hmmm..food for thought.

I saw that this morning, and am so excited!! I can't wait to hear that music, and to see the Elliot float. :cool1:

Which would be better to see? The MSEP or Spectro?

They are both really great parades. They have different music, and I think the floats for Spectro magic may be a bit bigger. I'm a bit partial to MSEP because it's the one I saw as a kid and the music is my favorite Disney music ever. You really can't go wrong with either parade though.

I never saw the MSEP parade. Some people prefer one over the other, that is for sure. Though we love Spectromagic...in my view (not having seen either) is that both are similar enough that if you enjoy one you would enjoy the other. I would say this...if you have the chance to see MSEP - I would do it. MSEP will be around for probably 1-2 years, and then will return to DL/DCA. Spectromagic will then return to being the full-time parade (unlese they decide to switch them...which I doubt). If you have kids I HIGHLY recommend seeing either parade. The night parades are way better than the daytime parades.

Just getting caught up!

You will love MSEP & the fireworks! DH and I made a very quick & unexpected trip to WDW this past weekend and luckily were able to see both. As much as I love Wishes, the Nightastic fireworks were AMAZING!!! And I'm not very big on parades, but I enjoyed MSEP more than Spectro. :thumbsup2

Your trip is getting so close!!

Cool spontaeous trip! I don't think we'll be seeing Nightastic, though, but I definitely want to catch MSEP. We'll have both Wishes and Hallowishes to look forward to.

Yes, it was great taking a spontaneous trip! We had so much fun, even though it was only 2 days in the parks!

You're probably right. I misread and thought the fireworks were being extended too, but now I see it's just the parade. I haven't seen Hallowishes except on youtube, but they look & sound amazing! I'd like to make it to a MNSSHP eventually to check them out. :thumbsup2

Actually, when we went in mid-October in 2006, they were playing Hallowishes every night...I don't know if they still do this in October or not...so that would change things a bit too.

That reminds me...I need to post a ? about that over on the theme parks board.
