We're Going To Disney, But It's Our Little Secret

We too are riding it out here in Lafayette, you guys are in our thoughts and prayers as we brace for who knows what...DH said "We will for sure need a vacation next week!"

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.....it's almost 10pm and we are getting the beginning of the rain....it's coming....just waiting to see how bad....

Well it's a little after 4am, DH left for work and I am a relieved that the current conditions are ok for him to drive. I wonder if he will be stopped by the police though, we are under a mandatory curfew, no one allowed out past 10pm last night. He has proper documentation for work though so it shouldn't be a problem, just a pain the the behind.

Right now it's eerie. Not really raining, the wind is blowing some but not too bad. They are saying the we will start to feel Tropical Storm force winds soon and of course rain soon. The eye of the storm is about 80 miles out right now. Keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers that we'll all make out all right. I am feeling little nervous now that DH has left, but feel confident that we will be safe. Just have to stay calm for the kids.

We'll be saying a little prayer  for you here in MA. After weathering this hurricane you should be guaranteed great :sunny: weather in Disney:)

Hope everything goes well for you...I am originally from NOLA (family is still all down there...well a little scattered right now...), so I know what the waiting game is like. It is not looking as bad as they had anticipated at least...although I know how that goes too!

This will probably be my last post. The power keeps surging and threatning to go out. Even though I have a laptop, if the power goes out I loose internet. The wind here has really picked up and so has the rain, there are already fallen limbs and stuff like that. We still have a long way to go I think. Thanks for all of the kind words of encouragement, it really means a lot. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the familes being effected as well :goodvibes

Jumping on board here and I haven't caught up but I wanted to say I hope you all stay safe during the storm.

Thank goodness for neighbors with generators :worship: They ran me an extension cord yesterday and I am able to run my fridge, tv, lamp, router and laptop! Here is what it looks like here right now. My DH is at work and they have a wind gauge and it is reading 80 mph winds and stronger gusts. We lost power a few hours ago, and in the past 7 1/2 years that we have lived here, I can count on both hands how many times we have lost power. I wish you could hear the roar of the wind and the popping of my house. :scared1: My kiddos are doing great though, very calm :goodvibes Thank goodness.

THis was about 8am this morning. My girls watching the storm come in:

The wind is still gusting very bad. I will try and post video later if I can. So far we have been very fortunate. My parents have lost 3 trees and had to moves next door to them for safety. I am still trying to get in touch with them to get an update. :confused

I'm glad you were able to check in and that you are doing well. I've been thinking about you guys!

That was nice of your neighbor to "share" their generator power. We lost power for two weeks in 2006 from Hurricane Wilma and our neighbor did the same - what a difference having a refridgerator makes!

Stay safe!

Katie -

Haven't been doing much DISSING this weekend but I wanted to catch up and make sure your family was OK. From watching the news tonight it looks better than it could've been. I was thinking of you earlier because I went to the Dollar store and got the last suction cup toothbrush holder. I told DS8 I was buying it for our cruise :rotfl:

Hope things are OK with your parents and that you get your power back soon!

Katie, glad to hear you guys are doing ok and that you have weathered the storm! Did your hubby make it home safe and sound? I hope so. :goodvibes

Sara

Hopped over from Melonie's PTR and now caught up! :thumbsup2 (Minus the pics you posted, I am at work at the pics are blocked - the nerve! :rotfl2: )

Your PTR is great, really enjoying it. Your DD4 sounds just like mine, also my shadow and loves to dress up.

I hope you guys are staying safe from the storm. We have Hanna headed our way to NC on Saturday, so I am really dreading that, not to mention wondering if Ike or Josephine will affect our flight on the 10th! :scared1: (or pour rain on us our entire trip!)

I hope to meet up with you guys on the 13th for ice cream!

Tammy
