We'll sleep when we get home! A fun-filled mother/daughter vacation! (Updated 1/21)

I love those street names, too! Anything Stacy has an affiliation with in her must-do Disney spot is awesome. She is just that awesome and nobody can say otherwise :teeth:

The TSM queue is so awesome! I think the lifeguard card is starting to grow on me since... well... I'm a lifeguard lol Legit! I also like the interactive Mr. Potato Head, it is so funny sometimes when he isn't talking to a crowd and pointing out one person, very shocking and the hilarity ensues ;)

Whoa! Disney was definitely off the mark for the time, if it took you 30 minutes with time to stop for photos... and I'm guessing Player #1 is... your mom! Yeah, I'm right! Uhuh Uhuh Uhuh! (<== If you know the reference, you gain major cool points)

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Great trip report! I love both Disney and NYC! Unfortunately we went to NYC this last June, and I injured my back so I only got to see the city for a short while before the pain became unbearable. I have decided if I won the lottery I would for sure get an apartment in New York, LOVE IT!!!!

Thanks for the pictures, I have 10 days until we go and my back still hurts so this is helping me gain the strength to go!

Thanks! Aww, I'm sorry you didn't get to fully enjoy your trip. I would love to live in an apartment in the city when I'm older. It seems so much fun. :thumbsup2

I hope you feel better for your trip. Have a magical time. :wizard:

I don't know the reference.. but no, I was Player 1! I always beat her. ;)

After we got off of TSM, we headed towards the Backlot Tour. We hadn't done this in 2 years or so, so we made sure to do it this trip! We waited in the area with the separate lines for about 10 minutes but it went by quickly because I was looking at pictures on my camera. The little show they do before you enter the trams and all of that stuff is SO funny. I'm always jealous of the person that gets to be drenched in all of that water! After that ended, we headed out to the prop warehouse. I loved seeing this:

I absolutely love the Hannah Montana movie! I've watched it soooo many times. It's one of my favorites. I took a little bit of time taking pictures of it, and we were one of the last people walking through the warehouse.

Don't those cones remind you of the ones in Toy Story 2 when they're crossing the road?

I love this attraction! It's fun to see "backstage" things, especially the costume area. :goodvibes

When we were let out, we ended up right near a Monsters Inc M&G. The line wasn't too long so we decided to stop there.

That morning, I had found out that Perry the Platypus would be joining Phineas & Ferb at their meet and greet for 3 time periods throughout the day. I think the time we were going was at around 2:20pm. We were there by around 2, but we wanted to wait and let a couple more people go in line so we wouldn't miss Perry. So, we went and checked out the Christmas store.

DSC_0875.jpg

Big mistake.

This is by FAR the slowest meet and greet on Disney property! Every family had to take pictures of their kids separately with all 3 of them, and then each of their kids with each character, and then they all danced. It took us an hour to actually get to them, and we had missed Perry by a couple of people because they only let him go outside for 10 minutes. It was ridiculous! The people behind and in front of us knew about Perry being there too, and they were not happy. I managed to get a few pictures of Perry before he was gone.

After waiting for what seemed like forever in the hot afternoon sun, we made it to Phineas and Ferb.

By that point we were hot and hungry and just wanted to sit down, so we walked around and decided to see if there were any openings at Mama Melrose. There were! We had to wait about 10 minutes, but that was fine because we were in AC. I didn't take any food pictures here, but I'll write a review!

Food Review:
I ordered a Caesar Salad for an appetizer and it was good but nothing special. We also got a bread basket with the same rolls they have at the Crystal Palace. Yum! For our entree, we both ordered the Chicken Parm but instead of with spaghetti, we choose penne ( or some other type of pasta that's smaller!) It was SO good! For dessert, I ordered Mama's Tiramisu. It was not what I was expecting but still really good. Mom ordered the Chocolate Cannoli Cake. I tried some of hers and it was great. Our waiter wasn't the best, but he wasn't bad. Overall, this was a great place to eat and we're returning in November!

Whew... I am all caught up! I am LOVING your TR:love: You are inspiring me to slow down and take my time on our next trip. I love all of th pics you take of the things around you. I never do that:sad2: But it helps you remember every step of the trip. It sounds like you and your mom had a wonderful time. Can't wait to hear more!

I just read through your whole report! I am enjoying it!

I used to live in New York City. Did you ever go to the World of Disney that they used to have at 55th & 5th? They had a Disney bear that they sold with a NYC Christmas shirt on and it looks just like Duffy. I still have my bear...I guess I can go buy more outfits for it now at Mouse Gears.

I hear you on the JFK delays. I swear you always have to wait a long time before it's your turn to take off.

I don't recall seeing all those unique items in the Philharmagic gift shop. I'll have to look closer the next time I'm there. I LOVE that Small World blanket.

I hope you have a great time at Disneyland! I think I just might actually prefer it to WDW! It has several differences from Disney World that will make it a fresh experience for you, yet still familiar.

As for a Voices of Liberty CD....I believe they DO sell albums. I think they are "Liberty Voices" online.

We have not yet had the pleasure of meeting up with Phineas, Ferb, and Perry.

We made our first trip to Mama Melrose in March. We all got spaghetti, and it was good. There was way too much of it, though, so none of us came anywhere near finishing it. Had we been going straight back to the room, we probably would have begged for to-go boxes, but we weren't, so we wasted a whole bunch of 'sketti.

I'm reading along!! I'm so glad you had a great time on your trip!! I've been sad about being back, lol so I haven't started writing anything yet, but I'm enjoying reading yours, haha!

Read through the whole TR today and it is GREAT! I love seeing The World through your eyes! I will be with my own DD11 in just a few short weeks for the first part of our stay, my DD16 and DS19 won't be able to join us until the last 5 days of our trip and you have made me really excited. My DD11 has enjoyed your TR as well and shouted when see saw your camera, "Look! I think she has the one I want!". I think she was hinting...see what you did? lol ;)

Can't wait to read the rest of your report. :goodvibes

I am sorry you didn't get to meet with Perry. That's strange that he was out so little, Disney must have known that meeting him would be super popular. :confused3 I do think phineus and ferb look a little freaky! :scared1:

Glad you got into mama melrose, we have had some yummy meals there.

My oldest daughter is really looking forward to meeting Phineas and Ferb!!! What a bummer you miss Perry! :(

Thanks for reading! Yes, I have been to the World of Disney store when it was open and I absolutely loved it. I liked that they had more park-type merchandise like pins. I didn't know about that bear though, but it sounds really cute!

The blanket is very cozy. :cloud9: They have a ton of Small World merchandise there.

Thank you very much! I like that it's smaller and I'll love to see all of the similarities and differences. ::yes::

 I just searched them on amazon and they have a bunch of CD's. Thanks so much for telling me! I'm going to ask my mom if I can get it, it's only $7.

Thanks so much! Your trip should be a lot of fun! :wizard: Haha aww, it can always be a Christmas present. ;) We went to Best Buy to get it and we got the refurbished one which was $400 rather than $700, but it was practically brand new because their Geek Squad makes sure that it's working perfect.

I am sorry you didn't get to meet with Perry. That's strange that he was out so little, Disney must have known that meeting him would be super popular. :confused3 I do think phineus and ferb look a little freaky! :scared1:

My thoughts exactly. :confused3 They were making a hype out of it and everything. While in line they were giving out movie posters. Oh well! But yes, I so agree with you about Phineas & Ferb. :rotfl:

My oldest daughter is really looking forward to meeting Phineas and Ferb!!! What a bummer you miss Perry! :(

Even though the line is long, it's kind of fun (when you're not standing out in 100 degree weather...:rolleyes1) But they have activities for kids to do which is fun to watch. They pretend to be making a music video and they have blow up guitars and different instruments. The little boy in front of us kept going out for every activity, it was so cute. :goodvibes

Hey DIS friends! I'm so sorry I haven't been updating the TR lately, I've been so busy with school since I started last Thursday. I promise to post a new update as soon as I have a day with little homework. But for now, I just wanted to share with you guys that we changed our reservation for November! As you may know, we were going to start off at Pop for 2 nights. Well, we love Pop a lot, but we wanted to try something new. So, we changed to All Star Movies! I'm so excited. We have a preferred room so I'll be sure we request the Toy Story section. :thumbsup2

Very understandable about school, no worries from me :thumbsup2 I'm excited now to even hear about the all stars lol, but I guess that'll be another TR, haha!! Can't wait to read the next update when you get to it!!

That's great you got to go on the Backlot Tour. It's not really anything special, but I do love Catastrophe Canyon, best part of the whole tour. If only a working studio was back there like way back when before Timmy ever entered the World. And the queue is pretty cool too (: And you do know those cones are basically made to mimic those, they are used in the new DHS parade and originally used in the Block Party Bash. :teeth:

Great pictures with Sully! I seem to miss so many M&Gs. I totally need to check them out when I'm out and about in WDW. And I like the theming they give to some of them, Disney always goes above and beyond :goodvibes

Awwww... I'm sorry you didn't get to see Perry. That whole thing with Agent P only being out for a limited time really bothered me. I mean, seriously? Only for that time! Maybe announce him as a new seasonal character, that would be more sensible. But of course... it's Disney :/ At least you got to meet Phineas & Ferb :thumbsup2

Mmmmm... Mama Melrose's sounds very good. It seems like my type of food, I might have to make an ADR there on my next trip. Cannolis... :)

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

After we were all filled up from our lunch, we wanted to do The Great Movie Ride! There were plenty of photo-ops along the way. ;)

The sun was glaring, I was squinting and there was weird shade. Here's the result.

And we finally made it!

DSC_0898.jpg

This ride is so fun even though I think we both know the lines by heart! I love when we get an extra-enthusiastic CM. And who doesn't love the video of movies at the end?! When the ride let out there was the cutest bunny outside the door. I was so close to snapping a picture but then the crowds came and well, that bunny disappeared in a flash! We walked over towards Sunset Boulevard shortly after that.

DSC_0899.jpg

This is one of my favorite pictures! The funny thing is, I had no clue how it turned out while I was taking it because the sun was glaring.

And we made it to R&RC.

(Do you see that orange dot around that guy's face in that picture up there? I didn't notice that until now - kind of creepy!)

DSC_0904.jpg

If I remember correctly, I had a fastpass. Little did I know...there's a single rider line........:rolleyes1 Whoops! This ride is SO fun, even though I can never fully enjoy it because I'm in shock I survived the take-off.

I think I also had a FP for the Tower of Terror, but it was 5:30ish so we decided to get some Triple Blast Pops and go to Beauty and the Beast for the 5:45 show.

Haha good! I have some days off next week so I promise to update a lot. :) And actually, we changed our reservation again. We upgraded and now we're going to Port Orleans French Quarter! :cool1: I can't wait to try some beignets and explore the whole place. Plus, we'll both love having a hot tub for two nights (the Poly doesn't have one!)

That's great you got to go on the Backlot Tour. It's not really anything special, but I do love Catastrophe Canyon, best part of the whole tour. Haha yes, I thought of the parade after I looked through my pictures. Which reminds me, I didn't get to see the "new" parade at DHS this past trip! I read that it was a lot like the old one though, so I guess it doesn't make a difference.

I know right? It was kind of frustrating at the time - but I'm over it now! :goodvibes

Mama Melrose is delish! Definitely make a reservation for your next trip ( after Disneyland ;) )

I love all of your pictures (As always)..the bunny sounds like a cutie! :cutie:

:dance3:

After the show was over, we walked back up Sunset Boulevard and stopped in Beverly Sunset Sweet Spells. I think Mom wanted to get a frozen lemonade slush and I was going to look at my selections. I spotted a cake pop! I saw them months before on the Disney Food Blog (which is a great side if you're a Disney Foodie - check it out!) and really wanted to try one. You could tell they were pretty new to the CMs because the ones at the register were a little confused at how to ring it up. It didn't take too long though and we walked out of the store to the benches near Starring Rolls.

I was a very good DIS-er and made sure to take a picture of my treat. It was chocolate on the inside and the ears were marshmallow filled.

DSC_0924.jpg

The people sitting on the bench near us didn't think the same thing and my mom said they gave me a look. :lmao: I cracked up! I could only imagine how many people in Disney think I'm absolutely insane every day I'm there.....

The cake pop was good! A little different from what I expected and very sweet. After that we went to go watch the 7:00 American Idol show. I love going to the finale shows best!

We wanted to see Fantasmic! but we had a little bit of time to spare so we stopped at Catalina Eddie's to get a salad for me and Rosie's All American Cafe to get a burger (I think?) for mommy. I also got a cute souvenir mug! We both got the chocolate cake with the DDP.

It was very good! I love Disney salads, they're so good. :thumbsup2

After we finished eating, we went across the street and walked to the amphitheater. They were playing the pre-recorded announcements that the show many be canceled due to inclement weather. That didn't scare people away though, the theater was packed! The show started about 15 minutes later but everyone was fine with that. In fact, when they started the show the crowd was cheering so loud, it was so funny! :wizard:

Continued in next post

After Fantasmic ended we waited towards the back right for 15 minutes or so to let the bulk of the crowds leave so we wouldn't be wall-to-wall with people. Our plan worked out pretty well and we didn't have any problems getting out ( other than having a few ECV's running into us...but that's another story  ) The park was about to close but we were determined to make it to Toy Story Mania for one more ride. What a rush! We always do this whenever we're at DHS for closing. As we approached TSM what looked like the managers were laughing and smiling and yelling at everyone to come and hurry before they closed the line! I love moments like that in Disney. Very magical. :goodvibes

The magical moments weren't over though. After we got out of the ride we saw a crowd around the meet & greet area. Buzz and Woody were there! Their handlers were saying "Say goodnight to the toys!" It was the cutest thing!

Here's our collection of all the ones we got during the trip. Definitely made up for the lack of them in the past years! I remember a while back during either my 1st or 2nd trip the mousekeeping set up a stand in Classic Hall and were making towel animals for guests! I've never seen anything like that since. It was so nice. :goodvibes

We then got ready for the next day and fell right asleep. We had a pretty successful day if I may say so myself. :thumbsup2
