I absolutely hate sinking to the level of sleezy timeshare shenanigans.
I really hope the next step is not a high pressure sales pitch.

they are going to give cash renters discounts for stays at okw and ssr if they do a dvc tour.
I just got the e-mail too. This is what it says:

They've always been a timeshare, they just put the Disney spin on it. 80% of Disney's effort goes towards sales and 20% towards the Members and managing the properties.
Ditto...$199 a night for a 1 bedroom...through October something.
I don't know why really, but I'm kind of miffed.
we all know, we are just saying.

It would make me really sad if that does happen.I have always told people how "no pressure" there was during the presentation. We were able to come home, do the research and then make an informed decision.
Really? Huh - when we bought in the summer of 2007, we were told we had to decide within 72 hours of coming home in order to get the incentives that were quoted. It was a little annoying actually, but we still like our guide-- actually we were told this by two guides.
Yes, we took the tour on October 3 last year (I was at WDW for training, so I actually have the date on my calendar.) and didn't decide until October 24 that is was for us. We sent in the paperwork on November 6 I think, so I guess it was about a month's time total between our tour and when we became members.
No, I believe you -- I just wonder whose experience is more typical. Perhaps we bought during a test "let's be sleazy" phase! The fruits of which research are finally beginning to pay dividends.
