Here's what we keep in the room:
We always bring a coffee maker for the room is we are in a room without one. Not sure if there are coffeepots in the room or not, not sure if technically they are allowed, but we always bring a 4 cup Gevalia coffee maker and have never had an issue (we like drip/brewed better than those packet-things). We try to eat all our breakfasts in the room, as well as snacks. We also bring *snacks into the park* (nothing squishy, no chocolate as it melts) for in-between snacking.
SO... coffee, filters, half-n-half, tablespoon (for measuring the grounds)
sometimes some teabags and honey
Yogurt
Grapes
Tangerines/cuties/halos (whatever they are called in your area)
Bananas (not if we are flying, they bruise too easily)
Cheese and crackers- bring a decent knife for slicing cheese
mini bagels
peanut butter
*granola bars (either chewy or crunchy)- park snack
*fruit snacks/gummy things- park snack
cookies
pretzels
sometimes cereal and milk for DH if he isn't happy to do yogurt/fruit/bagels all the time
peanuts
disposable bowls, cups, small plates, utensils- not ecologically friendly, so sometimes we bring enough plastic ware for each person and wash them- meaning bring your dish soap (bar soap/shampoo leave a scent/flavor on the plastic)
paper towels
bottled water
powdered flavor sticks for the water- I get these at Dollar Tree; we can get iced tea, flavored iced tea, lemonades, and all sorts of koolaid-like-flavors. Beats having a bunch of soda and stuff around.
BEER
WINE (bring a corkscrew from home)
It looks like a lot of stuff, and I'll edit this if we don't have a rental car or don't fly on Southwest (which gives us each 2 free checked bags so there's space for stuff). If we won't have a car, I'll bring individual half-and-half creamers, and individual things of honey, peanut butter, jam, etc... usually liberated over time from donut/bagel shops over time when we make purchases, LOL! Lots of people say "I don't cook" on vacation but we find we save money having breakfast and evening munchies available in the room. You are lucky that your son is driving up and can bring stuff, saving you from having to pack it or make the inevitable grocery store stop when you just want to get checked in and be vacationing!!
