Hi everyone!

Having another busy few weeks here. Craziness really seems to eb and flow in my life, doesn't it? Oh well.

I head to Disney World tomorrow. I can't wait! It will be nice to get away for a few days. :) I don't know which nights my guys will be playing though--the schedule has not yet been posted :(

Elaine, I read Wicked a couple of years ago. I also found it hard to get into (and I had a hard time reading it). I think about 65 or 70 pages into it, I really started devouring it, though. The book is quite different from the play.

Well, that's going to do for now. If I don't make it back in before my trip, see you next week. I'm not bringing my laptop with me this trip.

Okay what is TENS? I admit I am clueless :o

:teacher: Oh, oh, I know the answer to that one. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electro-Nerve Stimulator.

T.E.N.S. units have been dispensed by doctors to their patients for home use. They operate on a 9v. transistor battery and have small wires and pads that adhere to a painful area and alleviate pain. Tiny free nerve endings secrete a chemical called "substance P" that transmits pain signals to our brain. T.E.N.S. units artificially stimulate free nerve endings, thereby depleting them of substance P, literally stopping the pain signal in its tracks.

Good morning.

Suzanne.....hope the sickie feels better soon.

JRKaren...have a great trip. Be sure to post a review of EE when you get back :)

Karen, I hope the treatment brings you much relief. Still if you are using that unit and getting an epidural...does that mean you are sitting on TENS and needles?

Amanda, I am sorry about the friction with SIL and hope things smooth over soon.

just tried to post and my security thing won't let me post. going to try and see if this post goes through.

going to try my original post again...didn't work so I will try it in parts..it is saying it has a DDR Score=10... :confused3

Is it just me or does that device sound like some sort of Medieval torture device?ugh! And Alan you are REALLY bad.

Suzanne...how is the sickie today? Stupid landlord gets what she deserves!
JRKaren...have fun on your trip!!
Amanda...sounds like SIL has some "issues". Good luck getting the problems resolved!
Nancy...have you seen any sun this week?
TC...thanks for the definition! Did you have that thing too?
Elaine...have fun with your friend today.
Paula...how goes it today??

I figured out the offending line..

Karen..I hope the torture device helps you.

apparently it is the "t" word in that sentence...it didn't like me using it twice in one post

The only thing stopping me now from the rafting trip is when we can leave. If we want personal time that close to the end of the year we have to get it approved through the superintendents office (b/c it is 10 days before we get out of school and the Principals can't approve leave that close to the end of the year  ) I know a couple of people are taking sick leave...like he's not going to figure out what is going on there! But if no one is leaving after school then I'm not going..i'm not driving to West Virginia all by myself. Heck my last trip to northern va ended up being an adventure in 3 parts...I'd never find west virginia if I was on my own!! So that is what I'm waiting for now.

So last night I increased the number in our party for the Melting Pot to 8. I wanted to make sure we got the extra burner. Today, the flake comes and tells me that she has decided to go to Dover Downs this weekend. So I'm going to call another friend and see if she wants to go...I have extra seats.

So if any of you want to make the trip up to Va Beach let me know and you can go with me!!!

Okay, off to entertain my students!! hehehe

::yes:: Gorgeous day yesterday....and all the way to 52 degrees.

I hope you can go on the rafting trip. We went many years ago....on the Snake River, but during summer, so it was calm. The kids went also. I think they were about 4 and 7. It was fun. I would go a bit higher than a 1 ;)
Geoff used to go every summer with Boy Scouts....and a lot of parents went along on those.

Think I am going to go read for a bit. Dave is leaving late today (he's still sleeping). He has to go north to present something at one of the univerisities.

The Lower New River

I'm waiting to hear if anyone is leaving after school on that day.

My physical therapist used the TENS device on me when I had neck pain a few years ago. Between the TENS unit, the exercises that he taught me to do to strengthen my neck, and advice on how to improve my posture, I recovered.

The same PT used the TENS unit on my broken ankle in hopes of reducing the swelling. I don't quite understand the prinicple, but he had the device set so low that I could not feel the tingling that usually accompanies the use of TENS. I can't say whether or not it helped, but it certainly didn't hurt.

Afternoon,all.

I feel kinda wierd. I'm on Ed's pc and the spacebar's broken. I have to use my left thumb for it to work. That's slowing me down quite a bit.

You ask why I am on the pc? My laptop fried last night. I'm about to call HP. Two weeks shy of one year. Most of the stuff is saved elsewhere, but the pictures and what I bought on iTunes are history.

This on top of Ed breaking about two dozen glass and porcelain ornaments last night. My polar bear from my dad was unscathed, I haven't surveyed the rest-afraid to.

Nancy, I wasn't sure about the 1's. I just knew that the Upper Youch (yuck) is a 3 and I was told that I definitely wouldn't have been able to do it. The outfitter that they worked with won't bring people on their 4 unless they'd rafted before.

Sickie is much better today. Kept him home from school, but he's his usual self. Enjoyed a couple of movies with him.

This keyboard is annoying. Let's see what the fine people at HP have to say.

Back later!

Suzanne

Hi y'all! back from morning out... a bit tired too... and hey all you Buckeyes... I can't remember. Does the county sticker go on the left or right side of the plate. I got new ones today (no more Disney here) and I can't remember (course I could just look on my car, but that means going out in the cold ;))

Had good time though with friend & her son. He's a cutie!

Amanda, good luck with your SIL! Is this Todd's sister? If so I say let him deal with her from now on. But I think that was so wrong what she did! (sorry Todd ;))

Karen, hope you have a great trip!!! I do want to hear all about EE when you get back! I haven't seen the play of Wicked yet, so at least I don't have that to get through. I'm now at the college, so hopefully this will pick up some.

Thanks John! I would've been clueless otherwise (hush)

Tara, if I didn't have plans I would love to join you!!! I loved the Melting Pot!

Nancy, i hope you enjoyed your time reading! Between that and knitting, I like doing that when Luis is sleeping as well.

Big help there Alan
Btw, did you know that Bubba makes burgers? I saw them in Meijer yesterday!

Suzanne, so sorry about your laptop! I hope you can save some of it at least!

Hello Ya Yas! :)

They used this on old SSB's back in days before surgery. Never did find much relief from, but know that has helped others.

Luckily, and year since surgery and clipping along fine.

Bubba is not all that big; I doubt he would even make 2 decent burgers.
Besides, who would eat them?

alf.gif

And yes, we do have "Bubba" burgers here too ;)

Hey there SSB! You realize a few of us will be in your neck of the woods in just about a week! I actually won't be staying too far down the road from the lemonade stand :)

Alan :rotfl:
You got me with that! How I loved Alf! And yes, too, is Bubba big! That was my dad's first comment when he saw the pics of him :p

are the boards being difficult or is everyone already in bed for the night?

Who is bubba and why are we talking about his burgers?

never watched Alf... not a big fan of sitcoms.

kids are in bed...i'm headed that way too.

have a good night all!!
tara

Tara, the boards have been difficult for me... so I worked on knitting. I think I learned how to purl :teeth:
I also noticed elsewehre people were talkign about board issues, so I know it isn't just us.

Though it's ticking me off that it isn't helping us chat like we used to :furious:

As for Bubba... Alan has a cat named Bubba, but yesterday I saw burgers by that same name as well :rotfl:

Anywho, I'm off to bed... I hope the boards behave soon! :wave2:

Evenin', friends! Sorry I've been scarce yet again. Had Dave's son here for 2 days and he kept this computer all tied up doing his work. Then I worked late last night and had choir practice tonight. Yesterday's mail brought us another surprise--a lovely 2 lb. box of See's chocolates with a beautiful sympathy card from our Ya Ya Family! Somehow, I think the 8 lbs. I lost over the last month are going to find their way back to me :guilty: Thank you so very much for all your caring and sharing and support. Ya'll are just so very, very special!! :grouphug:

Good news from my doc, too. Had my very first complete physical last week and everything from blood pressure to kidneys to thyroid checked out A-OK. EKG and blood chemistry was just fine and my cholesterol was only 180!!! I was stunned, to say the least! I just assumed it would be high, but apparently, I have good genes. Now, I can go back to the orthopaedic and tell him to fix my knee, everything else is in perfect working order!!

Praise the Lord, Junior is back to work!! Sherry, I'm betting you ALL are ecstatic over that!! Hope his health problems are quickly resolved and everything settles into a comfortable routine for all of you very soon.

Reading Wicked, huh? Previews for the stage show looked pretty interesting, too. Been wondering how to spend my Borders gift card.......might be a good idea, there! Next, will be finding some time to kick back and relax with a book.

Sorry about the laptop, Suzanne. I know how frustrating it is to lose your computer like that. We learned real fast to make a CD of the pix as soon as they get downloaded from the camera.

I watched Alf a few times and loved him!! What's he got to do with Bubba and burgers, though?

Tara, I checked out that website for the rafting and am amazed that they consider that Lower New River good for beginners. I certainly wouldn't feel ready to face IV+ as a beginner. But I sure as heck would go anyway!!

Amanda, I'm so sorry about the family problems. Having come from a dysfunctional family, myself, I can certainly feel your pain. God bless you real good with the strength of character to rise above the pettiness.

Have fun with Goofy, Jellybean!! Give my love to Pooh and "the boys" at JRs. Hope your vacation is the greatest!

Time to get on to bed, here. DH is already snoring in there, although, hopefully, he will turn over or something when I climb in. Then maybe I can get to sleep before he starts up again!! Night, all!! :grouphug:

Hey All,

John thanks for the explanation on the TENS unit. I was trying to figure out a way to explain it.

Been using it on and off all day and it has helped. Im not in as much pain tonight as usual and the limp isnt as bad. The worst thing about it for me is that it makes the area around where the electrodes are itch. Its the nerves that are causing it. Well because of where the electrodes are I ummmm cant scratch and remain gentile and ladylike ROFL. I go for my MRI tomorrow night and Im not looking forward to it. I hate those machines. Had the bloodwork done for the growth hormone issue today and I should know probably by Monday. Stumped my primary doc completely. He had never heard of adults being put on it if they are low. He kept saying " But your growth plates are closed" I had to explain that in an adult it isnt used for growth but to counteract what the lack of it causes in adults. But as he said thats why there are endocrinologist....they are supposed to know this stuff LOL!! I just wish they would figure out what the hell is going on with me and fix it once and for all. Its getting a little depressing being 43 with all this going on. Im tired of feeling like Im 80. Im also working with the psych for the depression part of it. He says its common with pain issues.

Tara it sounds like a torture device but it really isnt. It just feels like a buzzing where the electrodes are.

SSB good to see you!! Glad the surgery did wonders for you. Im happy for you!

Suzanne Im so sorry about your little sickie and your computer frying. What a rough couple of days you have had. Sorru Ed dropped some of your ornaments. Glad the one from your dad didnt get broken.

Alan you are so bad!!! TENS and needles ROFL!!!! Thank you for the laugh. I needed that. I saw Bubba Burgers the other day at the store too and thought of your Bubba. Hes too cute to make burgers from though.

Amanda sorry about the SIL troubles. Sounds like someone needs to grow up and it isnt you.

Tara go on the trip. I bet you will love it.

Nancy congrats on good days with no rain.

Karen hope your trip is FABULOUS!! Be safe and have LOTS of fun!!

Well its time for me to head off to beddie bye. Im sleepy and 5AM comes very early.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:
