I don't need dysfunctional Pam...thanks for the offer though

I see lots of movies today...and pumpkin pie (Dave doesn't like it, it is all mine!! :rotfl: ).

It's Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Ya Yas!
I am giving thanks for all my Ya Ya Friends. :grouphug:

No pumpkin pie for me thank you, but I did find a really delicious! pumpkin pie crumble cake recipe that we are having today. Mmmmmmmm! Turkey is in the oven; soup cooking on the stove; Macy's parade is on TV; snowy day but the sun is shining right now--we do have winter storm warning until 5 p.m. tomorrow. No one coming over after all. Everyone in our family has decided to spend it elsewhere. Oh well, I should say I am sad about that
(but that would be a lie). :teeth:

I'm thinking movies today would be my choice, I will probably be watching in one room while others watch football day. Ahhh peaceful day ahead I think.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Lily, I'm glad everything went well yesterday and that you're missing (not) your relatives.

Pam, I thought my family takes the cake for dysfunctional-that's why I moved away!

Nancy, you can come down here. I only know how to make holiday food for lots of people, so there will be plenty of food. Only bummer is that I didn't get the cinnamon pecans to put on top of the sweet potato casserole.

Karen, that is so awesome. A good dentist is worth their weight in gold. I used to travel from Maryland back to Long Island to see my dentist. (And he used that to shame people complaining about a 20 mile drive!)

Panera and Barnes and Noble-great combo. They've got a new soup that I tried and wasn't thrilled with...but that was a first! Tomato and red pepper bisque. I thought it would be smooth, but it was chunky. Enjoy having Alyssa around.

Sherry, be careful in that snow!

So Ed had a crazy day delivering mail and didn't get to leave the post office until 7:45!!!! He got home at 8:30 and I got to work just at 9. Stayed until 1:30 and I think we'll do fine tomorrow morning. I just wish the days I have an opportunity to sleep in one child wouldn't climb into bed and the other do things that he's not supposed to (like take my laptop). Oh well, I don't have to be in until 1, so I can sleep in tomorrow.

Have fun with your families today and don't eat too much!

Suzanne

Wish I could come, Suzanne. I am starving.
2 hours to go until we leave for food...and then we'll see how long the line is. Hopefully it won't b too bad.

I don't usually do pumpkin pie....don't care if I have the crust of not ;) Usually some kind of custard, but pies were $2 a few weeks ago, so I stuck one in the freezer.

Chunky tomato soup won't go well with me....thanks for the review Suzanne. I know not to try that one.

Off to watch a movie.
Already watched 2 episodes Law and Order that I was behind on and our Disney planning DVD :teeth:

Suzanne, I told DH about that soup. I think he will like that.

Nancy, DH is liking the Law and Order series and has it on the "repeats" channel now. His fav ones are with Briscoe and Green. He also likes SVU.

Dinner is done, dessert is neatly tucked inside (me). Been watching the movie-thon on TV today, napped and had a wonderful holiday so far.

Just got home from BIL and SIL's house. Dh said all that driving really wasnt that bad. We had an absolutely wonderful time and the food was so good!! Its the first time I have had smoked turkey and it was awesome. It was nice to spend some quality time with BIL, SIL, the IL's and my neices. I am going to pick up a turkey and the fixings tomorrow and make a turkey dinner over the weekend. Thats the one thing I dont like about eating out or eating at the familys house is no leftovers LOL!!!

Sounds like everyone had a lovely day. Sorry about the snow though. Its so early for snow.

Got a great idea for the kids for Christmas while we were at BIL and SIL's house. They have a mini-tramp and my boys fell in love with it. Just the thing I need for them to get some exercise, burn off some energy, and get them sleepy LOL!!! Yes there is method to my madness hehehehehehe!! I just looked at Amazon and they have a nice one for 35.00. I think I will need to get two though so they dont fight over it.

Well gonna go get something to drink and sit and watch a little TV and unwind. Glad to hear everyone had such a lovely day!!!

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I had a nice Thanksgiving because I did what I wanted to do. I skipped Thanksgiving dinner by choice. I am not a big fan of Thanksgiving--my family stresses me out with all the vegetables!

I wound up going to see Rent again. Enjoyed it even more the second time around. I love the songs. I love the story. I love the cast. I'm sure I'll see it a few more times before it leaves the theatres.

I did stop by my two of my Aunts' houses today to visit. And now I'm home. Back to my heatless house. It's 46 degrees in my bedroom right now.

Guess that will do it for now.

I love all the Law & Order series.
They are ones that I actually buy

Dinner was good....only had to wait an hour in line
I think we will make other plans next Thanksgiving.
Ate too much.....isn't that what we always do ;)
Pecan pie, cherry crisp, some little berry mousse stuff in a chocolate cup, chocolate covered cherries and some layered cream/cake thingee for dessert :teeth:

Law and Order. Did you all know that I've met Jesse Martin twice (He's Green)? Great guy. One of the funniest people I've ever met. And a killer smile.

The first time I met him was back when he was in "Rent" on Broadway. A friend dared me to ask him what kind of cologne he wears. So I go over to him and say, "Hey Jess (yes, I called him Jess), can I ask you a question without you thinking that I'm a total loon?" He laughed a nervous laugh, and said, "I guess we'll find out." So, I say, "A friend of mine was here last week, and she met you. She thought you smelled really nice, and she was wondering what kind of cologne you wear so she can buy it for her boyfriend." He laughed again, and rubs his hand of his, and says in that deep throaty sexy voice of his, "It's Blue Nile. It's a body oil." Then he smiles at me and says, "I've gotta give you a hug." He gave me a big huge bear hug. Jesse knew that I was friends with one of the other cast members from "Rent." Many of the "Rent" cast members new my face because my friend had a picture of me and him in his dressing room.

The second time I met him, it was just a few months after he had been cast in "Law and Order." I was at the same off-Broadway play as him. I walked by him at intermission, and gently tapped him on the shoulder. I congratulated him on landing the role in "Law & Order" and told him how much I loved him in "Rent." Later in the evening, I was standing in front of the theatre waiting for my friend Kevin, who was in the show, to come out. Jesse was waiting out front waiting for Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel, who were also in the show, to come out. There weren't many people around, so I was chatting with Jesse again, and I was telling him how much my sisters loved him. I asked him if I could get a picture with him so I could make my sisters jealous. He thought it was the funniest thing. When he noticed me leaving, he said, "Hey, I hope that picture makes your sisters jealous."

Karen

Lucky you, Karen. I like him on L&O...and can't wait to see him in Rent....going Sunday :)

Good evening, all!! We've had a lovely day here, too. Laundry is done, dinner is done, dishes are done, and the packing is done, too! Even checked in online and we have our boarding passes already. :teeth:

Gotta get myself to bed, now, since I have to be up at 6. Luckily, ours is not one of the stores that is opening at 5AM!! We open at 8. Those of you staying home, would someone please see that mousekeeping takes care of our room here at DL while we're gone? And please don't give it away to anyone else--we paid ahead for quite some time. Those of you headed for the House of Mouse, see ya REAL soon!!!

Nancy- Did you only eat dessert? :teeth:

Last thing I read, only thing I remember :rotfl:

Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good night!

Safe travels to those leaving for WDW tomorrow.

Morning All!!

Hi Betty so good to see you!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Had a weird dream that woke me up. Ugh hate those.

Gonna spend the day cleaning the house and setting up the tree. We bought a prelit cheapie Christmas Tree the other night. It looks good on the package....lets see how it looks put up LOL!! Dh found my angel ornaments that have been missing so Im looking forward to putting those on the tree this year. I also need to do some grocery shopping. Havent replaced any of what we lost during the storm yet. Ive been gunshy about replacing stuff and have just been buying pretty much day to day.

I stepped on the scale this morning and......20 POUNDS GONE!!!!! I am sooooooo psyched!!!

Morning Ya Yas!

Karen, what great news about losing those 20! Glad your day was better than expected.

JRKaren, I loved Rent when we went to theater here to see it. I was wondering about the movie version if I would like it as much. Your story was great about meeting Jess. When does the furnace repair team arrive? Hope you get it resolved soon and find a way to get warm.
:sunny:

Nancy, glad you reported about the important part of dinner yesterday! Mmmmm!

Sun is shining right now, but snow warnings for our area and we have officially broken a record for coldest day. Brrrr. (It's warm in here so I don't think I'm going out, not even to get the newspaper.)

Thanks Lily. I am really psyched. My eating habits have changed drastically over about the last month so I should be able to maintain losing weight. I dont know I guess I just have a different mind set recently. I havent really been trying to lose weight, just things have changed and I have started losing. I guess that really is the best way to lose weight though. Things that I used to crave to eat just dont seem all that important anymore. Im drinking a lot more water than soda and when I do have soda most times I dont finish it. We went out to dinner the other night and what I normally would have finished in a heart beat I ate only some of and brought the rest home. My youngest gave me the biggest smile when I told him and asked me if I was gonna lose a lot more. I told him a definite yes. Though he wont say I think my weight bothers him. He told me he wasnt embarrassed of me but I actually think he is. I mean Im certainly not grossly overweight but I am heavy. I would like to feel better about myself and I would like my youngest to be proud of me too. My weight doesnt phase my eldest that I know of as he proudly announces to everyone...... THATS MY MOM!!..... if I happen to help out with school or something.

Sorry it is so cold there. Yikes!!! Send dh out to get the paper ROFL!!!

Good Morning and a Belated Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you all so much for your friendship. You have NO idea what it means to me. Now, if I could remember to say those things a little more often than at Thanksgiving.... I really do think often of how lucky I am to have such great friends....just need to put saying it into to practice A LOT more!! Love you all.....mean it!

Thanks for the well wishes and prayers for my father. He is out of the hospital and I am back home. It has been a long, hard journey for my dad, and unfortunately I think it is one that is just the begining of the end. Continued prayers for my dad would be much appreciated. All the signs are pointing lung cancer, but we have decided as a family not to go through with a biopsy. If my father were to go through with the biopsy, there is a very good chance he could colapse his good lung. He would then need to be intubated. He has told all of us he does NOT want that under no circumstances what so ever. I can't say that I blame him. Of course, if he were to go through with the biopsy all that would mean is that we would know what he has. At this point, it really isn't important to know if he has cancer or not. He doesn't want to go through chemo or radiation. Can't say that I blame him there either. He is 78 and in poor health to begin with. We all sat down and told my dad we would support whatever his decisions were. If he wanted to do chemo/radiation, we would be there for him...if not we would be there for him too. He told us he has lived a good life. Worked hard, played hard and now he is just tired. We let him know he needed to do what he needs to do and we would be there for whatever he decides and he could change his mind at any time....even though he is not a girl! (That is a big joke in our house. The women are far more abundant than men...and we ALWAYS change our minds!)

Anyway, Tuesday I left the hospital knowing that I most likely hugged my father for the last time. I didn't shed a tear until I got to the elevator...then I really lost it.

For those of you who are without your loved ones, my heart goes out to you. I think I am begining to know how it feels....and it is not a good feeling. Many hugs to you. May their memories be happy ones!

Anyway, I think I have go on about this enough, but wanted to give you all an update and a big THANK YOU for your concern and prayers.

Liz

Liz my thoughts and my prayers continue to go out to you and your dad. If you would like me to add him to our prayer list at church please let me know. I would be glad to have him added.
