Happy New Year, everyone!! Put in 4 1/2 hours at the part-time job yesterday, gave the boss a ride home, dashed to McD's for some dinner, spent 15 minutes with my hunny, eating, then dashed back to the boss's house to babysit for New Year's Eve! Little Sammy had taken a VERY long nap yesterday afternoon, so he saw the New Year in with me, then finally crashed on the sofa. We had a blast together and I got a good "grandma fix"!! I didn't want to get paid, but they gave me a $50 Borders gift card anyway. I sense some cozy "curl up in the quilt and read" days in my future!
Glad to hear of all the fun New Year's eves. I love both Scrabble and Yahtzee, but Dave's just not a game person unless it's a one-person computer game. I DID get him hooked on one of my find-the-hidden-picture games. I miss the nights I used to stay up until the wee hours of the morning with my Dad playing cribbage, though. When he died, one of the things I got was the cribbage board and the cards--such fond memories every time I see them.
So what New Year's traditions do ya'll have? Boss's wife was soaking black-eyed peas last night cuz she had been told that's a good luck tradition in this area of the country. My family never had any special ones, but as a young adult in Cleveland, I learned about pork and sauerkraut with (or without) potato dumplings being the good luck meal for New Year's day. So now I'm wondering what other traditions are followed.
Suzanne, I'm on my way--that gingerbread/bourbon crusted ham sounds positively scrumptious!!! Can I bring a side dish??

Oh, and we're going to blast down to OKW the last weekend in January, but have no plans for the parks except MAYBE doing the Pirate/Princess party on Sat. nite. We feel the need for a de-stressing weekend and thought we'd just chill at the resort, maybe wander around Downtown Disney and some of the other resorts. Would love to meet up with ya someplace, though!! (we also have plans for the first week of June and the first week of December, if you want to mark your calendar. We're bringing friends each time, but I always say "The more, the merrier!" so maybe we can get together then, too)
Amanda, when you're finished with Cassie's closet, I could use some help with mine. I have piles and piles beneath all the hanging stuff of clothing I either don't like or don't fit. REALLY need to get that stuff moved out and passed on to someone who can use it!
Laine, hope things settle down soon for you with Dom. My DD was kinda colicky and what worked for her was to lie on her tummy along my forearm with her legs on either side of my elbow. Then I had to walk....and walk and walk and walk and walk. Thought I was gonna wear a trail in my living room rug cuz we were in Ketchikan, Alaska at the time and it was always too rainy to go out! I know it seems like it's taking forever, but like Mom always said, "This, too, shall pass"
Tara, I assume you didn't snag the return address label off the envelope of any of the cards I've sent you? I'll PM you--this is only our 3rd Christmas in this place!!

I used to play on pogo.com all the time and Word Whomp was one of my favorites, too. I used to play it so much I would actually play in my dreams!! Wake up spelling tea, eat, ate, era, are, ear.....etc!!!
Busy time of the year, Paula, and you had a birthday in there too! No wonder we haven't seen much of you the last week or so. Hope all is well on both the work and the family front. Have you already started working in the office? How's that going? Can you save a couple of lobster claws for me? YUM!!!
So, Kristy, has Tink been restored to her former glory and looks brand-spankin' new, again? How many Webkinz did you get for Christmas? LOL!! I finally saw them in person at a local Hallmark. They must've gotten a recent shipment cuz they had just about every "model" imaginable! I have 10 of the virtual critters, but the friend who gave them to me has only given me the codes. I had never actually seen them for real. My goodness but they are soooooo cute!!! Now I want one of the new frogs and a unicorn and a piggie and......oh well, you get the idea.
Helloooooo out there in Sherry-land!! How's things going with you and your brood?! Bet ya'll had a wonderful night last night! Sometimes I really miss having family around to "play" with!!
Sorry you seemed all alone here yesterday, Rose Mary!

Did you hafto work yesterday? How about that new position you're working--things going better now? Hope we can see more of you in 2008!
Well, the day is 1/2 gone and Dave is already asking about plans for dinner. Hate when I sleep so late, but I would have been a real grouch if I hadn't! I am trying sooooo hard not to turn into that "cranky old lady", but I see her in myself, especially when I don't get enough sleep. Anyhoo, better go see where and when he wants to go eat so he can decide if he wants to eat lunch or not!!
Later, gators!! Mad, mad love all around!!
