Happy New Year!!

We went to Junior's aunt's yesterday, then to SIL's parents house to ring in the new year. We sang karaoke until 1:30. :teeth: Today we are just hanging at home. We watched a movie, and will probably watch another later.

Beth, things are good here. I am back to babysitting tomorrow. I enjoyed my week off. :teeth:

Elaine, hope you get things with Dom figured out.

Amanda, I have some closets you can work on here. ;)

Tara, sounds like a fun way to bring in the new year. I love Word Whomp.

 and mad  to all.

hi gang,

been playing scrabble all day with mom. The poor kids have been ignored today so we could play games! heheh thank goodness for the new scooby doo videos ethan got for christmas!! bad mommy!!

 uh Beth...yeah...I probably never looked at the return address labels! I'm such a dork!!

I have to go to work tomorrow! I'll check in sometime tomorrow!!

hugs to all!!

tara

Morning!

Back to getting up early for me. Nephew is back. Wah!
Jonathan has been up off & on all night throwing up. :(

Tara, Scrabble all day sounds fun. :teeth:

Good Morning to all and Happy 2008!
Is everyone sleeping in today? :confused3
Had a nice quiet New Year with myself watching Saw I & II. Never did make it to III like planned. Once again I have resolved to get organized this year :rolleyes1 oh and definitely lose weight.
Hey Bethie, good to see you. Loving my new job, much less stressful! Wish we were closer and Tara too. I love scrabble and yahtzee. We could have a blast.
Elaine, so sorry poor little Dom is having a time of it. Hopefully, your plans there will get things going.
Suzanne, how's the weather in your neck of the woods? We have that arctic blast going on here. I think all those YaYa's north of us set there fans blowing this way. It is currently 35 ffffffreakin' degrees. :scared: with wind. Sounds like a fun NYE celebration at your place.
Amanda, good luck with the closet cleaning. I keep trying to get Cameron to go thru his stuff and even tho' I don't see him wear some things he refuses to get rid of them.
Sherry, sorry one of the J's is  . sure hope everyone doesn't come down with it.
Better get busy. :yay: to all I missed.
Hope everyone has a wonderful, warm day!

Happy belated New Year, Y'all!

My Dad built my son a flintlock rifle- he handcarved the entire thing - he takes a block of wood and makes the gun. He still needs to finish some extra carving and add inlays and a silver patch box but he gave DS the gun on Christmas so he could hunt with it.
That is such a cool gift and very special to have been made by grandpa.

Amanda, I do know there is a book called PS I Love You. Per wikipedia it is based off of that as well.
Amanda, from what I understand, yes, PS I Love You is also a book.
I'm not familiar with this movie or book, but I have a .45 from the Beatles of the same title :rolleyes1

We had Christmas dinner last night and it was a s huge success!! The food was good, the kids were good, and the presents were good...so before dinner I had to switch out the switch and the outlet. And it actually worked when I was done!!

So I'm an electrician also!! hehehehe
Yay for such a good day!

the DIS has been horrible for posting on any thread longer than a page or two-what's up with that server switch? I thought it was going to help!
Should we get Tara to look at it?

Christopher turned 19 on Saturday - we had a small dinner and cake for him at our neighbors last night - he brought his girlfriend and 2 other friends - it was nice.
Sounds nice. Happy belated birthday to the young man.

My Zelda freak is VERY happy. We are here cracking up at the antics. He's using a chicken on his head to fly, throwing pumpkins and just generally goofing off.
Please tell me that is something in the game? Otherwise, you are going to be cleaning house for a long, long time.

Back to getting up early for me. Nephew is back. Wah!
Jonathan has been up off & on all night throwing up. :(
And so it begins, eh? I hope Jonathan is feeling better.

Abigail and Lela do not start school until Monday so Rebecca and I are still getting to sleep a bit later this week.

Lainey, I am sorry that it has been so much experimentation to find out what works best, but I hope you find it all soon.

Amanda, have you recovered from the girls party?

Beth, you asked about New Year's traditions. Around here, the mandatory meal is black eyed peas and greens (often collards) We always substitute cabbage for that, but I did have it and the peas (with Christmas ham bone cooked in) yesterday so my luck for 2008 is confirmed. :)

We did enjoy the visit with family and are glad to be back home.

Alan...House is back in order. Girls had a great time.

Sherry/Beth...you wouldn't want me to go through your stuff. I have no problems getting rid of stuff. My girls will stay up cleaning their own rooms till midnight to avoid Mom coming in. They were great at helping. Now to get all the stuff off to Goodwill. My room is a sight till I get boxes for all of it. We filled 2 outside garbage cans with trash from their rooms and I can't even estimate the boxes being donated. Sad considering we donate several times a year.

Well back to the usual schedule. Although it is nice that Mandy is done with her basketball, now I only have Cassie's cheerleading:cheer2:

Howdy. Two days in a row off here, so I'm very happy the kids don't go back until Tuesday. :cool1: Kevin is playing Zelda again (yes, Alan, that's in the game :teeth: ) but requests some good pizza at the place up the block.

It was a nice New Year's, and then I actually woke up before the alarm went off at 7am yesterday. I had a nice little contest with my staff-we wagered on what time the first customer would walk in the door. Then the winner got a huge Hershey bar and a little certificate I made. :lmao: The first person walked in at 10:45, mainly because she'd come down for coffee from the shop that was still closed! Most of the other stores didn't open until noon, and some didn't even open. Mall management had sent out a newsletter on Monday afternoon saying that we'd be closed. Hmm, think you can give more heads up than that?

Rosemary, it is a bit brisk here and windy, too. We were thinking of Sea World today, but decided we'll go tomorrow. I'm in my thermals and I snuggled under the flannel quilt last night! :rotfl2: at the rest of the gang turning their fans at Florida.

Alan, you could have invited the rest of us to share in your lucky meal! :rotfl:

Amanda, Back to peace and quiet and a less hectic schedule, good deal! We need to get to organizing and sorting here soon. I'm closer to you on the pitch front (or rather, lemme eBay it) and Ed's very sentimental and attached to things.

Sherry, that break sounds like it was lots of fun (well, except for the sick J) and hopefully the nephew will go easy on you.

Kimmar, so where are the Florida pictures?

Beth, we only have passes to Busch Sea World, so doing one of the other things sounds perfect to me. Though I do have two days left on the 3day pass that have to be used by February 2nd.

Tara, the Apps and drinks were good. We had plenty to share. I think I'll do that again next year. The late lunch made a big meal unappealing. At least now I can plan the appetizers out ahead of time and do a better job of it. Someone is saying he's going to put the leftover crab dip into popovers, though.

Kristy, and Pam, Happy New Year to you ladies, too!

Elaine, I hope things are moving along nicely for your little guy.

Well, I'd better hurry and get dressed. Lunch ends at 2pm at the place up the block.

Suzanne

afternoon gang,

Not ignoring you all today...just lots of work today! blech! Not fair! I don't want to have to work!! hehehe

I'm doing tutoring right now (the kids are working as a group so I have a minute to get in my hellos!). When I leave here at 530 I run home to grab some dinner and be at a cub scout committee meeting by 7.

But I have all my ducks in a row for shooting for the blue and gold banquet. As soon as the B&G is over I'm done being a leader! That is the end of February. Hopefully, by then they will have everything figured out and have a new leader. I was only planing to be there until May. So it will just hasten my departure!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day. Sorry I don't have time to respond to all the previous posts! but i have read it all!!

talk to you all later,
tara

Hi all... just popping in quickly. Someone was cranky a good portion of the day. I have been reading but don't have two hands to reply all the time ;)

I do hope Jonathan is feeling better by now

Bethie, what a busy lady you have been lately. Where is your part time work again?

Our NYE tradition is to have Chinese, sausage and sauerkraut. I personally hate the last two so I just go for Chinese. Luis used to do the grape thing, but I haven't seen him do that in years.

Last night we went to visit with some friends. Luis got to play with a Wii and we had their traditional pork meal. All was pretty good.

Crud someone is squirming... probably needs a few good pats on the back.

Nephew slept most of the morning, so it was an easy day. :teeth: He won't be here tomorrow, but he'll be back on Friday.

Jonathan is still feeling pretty crummy. Poor thing. :( Junior has no voice and my throat is starting to hurt. Blech.

Alan, glad you had a good time with family. My boys go back on Monday, too.

No New Year's traditions, here.

Amanda, I'm a pack-rat. Junior throws everything out. :rolleyes1

Tara, enjoy your evening.

Suzanne, yay for 2 days off.

Elaine, sounds like a nice New Year for you. Sorry someone was cranky, though.

Gonna get back to my book.

I admit I have a very cute view right now. Luis is taking a nap and Dom is as well. I have supper ready, but don't want to wake Luis for that if he is able to get a nap in.

I admit I am a packrat as well. I have worked hard to try to break myself of that. It gets really hard for me to just toss things out.

Suzanne, enjoy your two days off!

Sherry, sorry that everyone isn't feeling well. I hope y'all feel better soon and also that the others don't catch anything any of y'all have.

Hi all...

forgive me if I don't do a full ketchup. I'm not feeling great today thanks to a headache and sinus issues. I had planned an extra day of vacation for today but ended up working quite a bit. Thankfully it was from the luxury of my recliner instead of going to the office :)

Sherry sorry you have sicklings in your house.

Elaine when you get a chance you'll have to get a picture of that cute view you had ;)

Alan enjoy the rest of your week of staying up late.

Bethie I'm not even going to try to compete with that whopper of a ketchup :p Send me a pm with your webkinz id and I'll send you a friend request. I have 5 real webkinz here and 1 virtual webby I got from a trading card. I love all of them and I have Derek addicted as well :) Oh...Tink is indeed home looking better than ever.

Suzanne woohoo for two days off. Why weren't you given more warning about the building being closed? That just seems wrong.

Amanda when you have time I need some of your cleaning energy. We only gave Goodwill half the amount of last year's donation. I didn't have the energy to clean out my closet :rolleyes1

Pam your sons gift sounds very cool!

Tara have fun at your meeting tonight. You should create a ticker counting down the days till you're out of there :teeth:

I've been putting off this announcement for about a week. After many long talks and prayerful consideration Derek and I have decided to remain child-free. It's not something I expected for my life but it seems to be the best choice for us giving the circumstances. Either way this lets us move one with life. I'm researching schools to finish my degree and I have plans to remodel my scrapbooking room :)

Morning...

Sherry...I knew there was something about Junior I liked;) I hope everyone gets well soon.

Elaine...I have a picture of Todd and Mandy sleeping together. Those are the best pictures.

Kristy...I am sure that was a tough decision. I have 2 close friends who have made that choice, of their own will. Both friends love animals and put their energy there. They are both wonderful with kids and love on mine. One of the friends does redecorate her house more often than I think is necessary;) Enjoy remodeling your scrapbook room.

I think my energy has been exhausted. Last night I went home put away a good part of the Christmas decorations in the rooms, Todd does the trees:rolleyes1 Then I worked on getting healthy things prepared to keep me on track this week, fresh fruit...chicken...lima beans. I was up at 4am this morning to hit the gym for 2 miles on the treadmill. Yesterday morning I did weight lifting. I am very tired now. I thought exercise was suppose to give you energy:rolleyes:

Tara...Yah for almost being done with Boy Scouts. I can relate since I did Girl Scouts for Mandy's troop.

Is anyone else having trouble remembering what day of the week it is?:dance3:

Amanda  4 a.m.? You made ME tired! LOL
Kristy  to you and Derek. I'm sure that wasn't an easy decision to come to terms with.
Sherry - enjoy your day off and your book!
Elaine - did Luis & Dom have a nice nap together? I'm sure Luis didn't mind the extra snooze before dinner.
Suzanne - you hitting Sea World today? It's still a bit chilly here but, at least those darn gale force winds have calmed down.
Tara - Did your ducks stay in a row when you went to your meeting? :rolleyes1
Ok, guess I should work. Darn it.

Luis used to do the grape thing, but I haven't seen him do that in years.
Not familiar with that one, but at least I eat grapes. ;)

Amanda, I'm a pack-rat. Junior throws everything out. :rolleyes1
Count me in the pack-rat category also. However, I suspect that the difference between me and Sherry and Elaine is that I'm also a slob about it. :rolleyes1

Kristy  but excited about going back to school and getting your room designed as you want.

Good morning y'all

Good morning,

Don't stand too close to me! I keep coughing...everyone around me is ducking for cover! They are afraid one of my lungs is going to make an appearance in their laps!! I don't feel bad I just sound like i'm going to die!

ketchup:
Kristy.... to you and Derek. I know that was not an easy decision. Tell you what...I'll send my goons down to stay for a few days and that will cure you of all desire! hehehe I know they've cured me! I realize that doesn't make you feel any better and I'm not trying to be flip about it. My heart breaks for you all.

Amanda...whew! i'm glad someone is working out! Please make sure you do enough for the rest of us! I've been doing a lot of jumping to conclusions, dancing around the issues, chasing my tail, and various other events...but they just don't seem to help me lose any weight!

****Oh announcement....I lost those 6 pounds being sick...but luckily I only found three of it back...so I'm still down three! That makes almost 25 pounds since spring!! woohoo!! (4o more to go and I'll be happy...give me 3 more years I just might make it!!! hehehe :lmao: )

Elaine...I wouldn't have woken up two sleeping beauties either for food! that's what microwaves are for! I hope you are finding somethings to help poor little Dom feel better. Are you feeling better now? Trust me been there done that! Had the tears to prove it!

RM...tell them you don't want to work! You have better things to do with your time! I'll be in your neck of the woods for Spring break!! Maybe your boss and Suzanne's boss will let you two off and we can meet for some adult beverages!!!

Alan...glad your kids get a few more days off! I wish we had a few more days!

Suzanne...I wish I had more people around here that I could do a New Year's eve thing liek that with...the food, the enjoying each other's company...I mean I like our tradition but sometimes it would be more fun with a group of people!

Beth...you are certainly a busy chick! Oh and I got your Christmas card so now I have your address in two places. hehehehe

The me portion of this...the meeting went well. Tho they had to discuss every little portion of my plans to death. oy vey! They were making me crazy! But I did talk them into spending some money on crafts for the kids to make. Not that the little dweebs will enjoy them but at least they will hve them. I think it is going to be a great banquet if it all comes off like I have planned.

Oh and Jarrod news...we went to his doc a couple of weeks ago and they upped his Concerta. But with the holidays I didn't even bother getting it filled until New Year's Eve. I gave him the first one on New Year's day just to make sure it didn't give him a headache or anything. So his first day with it in school was yesterday.

So he comes home (got his G in school!) happy and went to work on homework. Mom didn't feel well so she laid down and told him to write his spelling words and to show her when he was done. He finished in about 15 minutes (10 words 3x each). she knew they were going to be lousy because this usually takes 45 minutes or more. Well, she looked at them and couldn't believe how neatly he had done it (neat for him anyway). She complimented him on his work and he announced that he took his new meds that morning and he felt really good and he thought that had something to do with his good work. He said he felt really calm all day!! :woohoo: This one seemed to actually last through his homework time! I'm thrilled! I hope his teachers are seeing it too!

Okay, that's all...gotta run and look like i'm wokring. I'll be back later!
tara

Kristy, I hope you are feeling better! This is a bad time of year for me with sinuses as well. Sorry I didn't get a shot of Luis and Dom sleeping... maybe next time I'll do it, but I was afraid to wake up Luis with the flash.
As for your baby decision  I remember having that conversation with Luis as well. I know how hard it is to discuss things like that. My aunt decided the same thing, and like Amanda's friends she has a lot of love for her animals and family.

Amanda, I was up at 4 am as well ;) Though I admit I went back to sleep for a few hours after that though.

Rose mary, work is highly overrated :p But yes, the guys enjoyed their nap together. One is napping on me right now as well :teeth:

Sleepy today, it was a longer night than I hoped it to be (couldn't sleep for about 2 hours when I could hhave)

Baby, it's cold outside! :cold: Actual temp was 3º this morning, but t he wind chill was below zero!

I'm waiting for it to warm up so I can walk Gunny. Plus, we have around 6 inches of snow, that always makes the walks more fun! :rotfl:

I've been putting off this announcement for about a week. After many long talks and prayerful consideration Derek and I have decided to remain child-free. It's not something I expected for my life but it seems to be the best choice for us giving the circumstances.

 I am sorry, Kristy. I know that this is not your choice -- but I will say that you have such a zest for life and are so full of joy and love, and are a blessing to so many of us that I just know that you and Derek will have a fun and happy life together!

Count me in the pack-rat category also. However, I suspect that the difference between me and Sherry and Elaine is that I'm also a slob about it. :rolleyes1

I'm a slob, packrat, too, Alan!:thumbsup2

I've got tons of work to catch up on.:guilty:

My kids head back to college on Sunday. I've loved having them -- but geez Louise, the cooking and laundry is killin' me!;)

DD and I went to look at wedding dresses yesterday. Heaven preserve us -- that girl has expensive taste! She prefers a strapless sheath gown, little adornment -- but she always gravitates to the designers and the French lace or silk fabrics! :faint: The cheapest gown she liked was $2,200! :scared1: To her credit, she realizes that the $3,500 gown she loved was too pricey. I'm working on the saleslady to sell the sample gown to us because it's from the designer's 2007 fall line -- they just haven't reached the magic dollar line with me yet!

Morning!

Feeling blah this morning. I now have a full fledged cold. :rolleyes1 I did get to sleep in this morning, though.

Kristy, I know that was a very hard decision.

Amanda, I'm tired just reading all that you did. Work out for me, too. :teeth:

Tara, glad that Jar's new med seemed to work. That's great. Hope your cough goes away soon.

Pam, wow, that's cold. We have snow. Only a few inches, though. Supposed to melt by the weekend. Hope the saleslady will give you the magic price you want on that dress.

Elaine, sorry you couldn't sleep when you had a chance. I hate when that happens.

Rose Mary, stay warm. I finished my book last night, so now I have to figure out which book to read next. :teeth: That Nora book came in at the library. I'll pick it up tomorrow.
