Amanda, our doctor told us to give it a week before we see the full effect. If he has inflamation of the esophogas, which we assume he does, it will take a little while for it all to feel better. I did notice a difference in the smell of the spit up this morning though. He's had a horrible acidic smell to him for a week or so now. Luis said he could even smell it in the house (I admit I don't notice as much since I am home almost all day). I am very hopeful that this will help.
I think my doctor must feel the same about pain because this little guy is growing like CRAZY!!! Most babies average about 5-7 ounces a week for growth. Our guy has been growing on average 10-11 ounces a week. He's not chunky or fat, he's just growing. He went from the 13 percentile to about the 60th in 5.5 weeks. I know that is causing some fussiness and probably some pain/discomfort as well that we probably can't help out with too much on. But she did agree that the screaming with the reflux (burps, yawns, spit ups...) was way too much. Some docs just say they'll outgrow it on their own after a few months if they are gaining weight fine. If she did that I would've talked to someone else
