Chapter 4
We woke up our first morning to over cast skies and a cool outside temp. Jarrod woke me up around 815. He pounced on top of me like Tigger does to Pooh! I didnt want him to wake Ethan or grandma, so I rushed him to get dressed and get his teeth brushed so we could go outside and take pictures. (the pictures of the hotel were from the first day). It really was neat to walk outside and see the mountains in front of us.
We returned to the room, got the rest of the gang up, and got showered and dressed. We ate some of the doughnuts we had brought, gulped some milk, and watched the rain come in across the mountains

. Once we got out of the room we went down to the visitors center to buy our tickets for the attractions we wanted to see. We got tickets for the Natural Bridge (with Monacan Indian villiage and the Story of Creation), the Wax Museum and factory tour, and the Natural Bridge Caverns. Our tickets were good for two visits to each place within 48 hours, so we decided to have lunch in the visitors center and then head to the wax museum. Yes we were eating lunch so soon after eating breakfast
did I mention how long it takes for us to get out of the room when we are on vacation?? We cannot get out of a hotel room before 10am. I dont care how hard I try I cant get these folks up and moving any earlier.
Lunch there was less than perfect. The lunch counter was open for lunch from 11:30 to 2 so you had to make sure you were there in time to get your food
one minute late you were out of food! Did I mention that any other choices were 15 miles up the road? So I ordered a roast beef sandwich on white bread with extra mayo. Now I know it was mayo because the woman behind the counter told me it was mayo

. Mom got a sandwich with meat, sprouts, avocado, and some funky bread that was something like cibata. She said it was very good. Mine on the other hand was blech! Apparently it was not mayo but miracle whip
ugh! I cant stand the taste of miracle whip!! Blech! So I wound up eating the meat where the miracle crap had missed. The chips were goodthough! The kids chose to split a hot dog and the both agreed that it was in fact a hot dog!
By the time we finished eating the rain had stopped (of course because we had wasted an entire week!!

) so we decided to hop on the bus that takes you down to the Natural Bridge. We had the option of walking 137 steps to the bottom but decided that Ethan wouldnt appreciate the stroller bouncing down that many steps!
The bridge was gorgeous even in the overcast shadows. We walked the path and enjoyed the rocks, the trees and the wild flowers. The trip was pretty normal until Jarrod, while looking over the side of one of the paths, hollers, Mom snake. Of course knowing my child, I knew that he did not really see a snake; he must have seen a stick that looked like a snake! So I moved over to the side of the path, knowingly looked over the side of the path, and then promptly screamed like a little girl, grabbed Jar by the coat and walked on air to the other side of the path!

Once I could breath I looked over the side again (now you have to understand this is maybe 24 inches from our noses! Its not a long drop) and realized there wasnt A snake
there was a pile of snakes!

One was large and the rest were smaller. We then looked to the left and saw another snake moving in the direction of the pile osnakes. I pulled out the camera and got some good pics of the snakes. As we watched the snakes other people started coming over and the snakes got spooked and took off.
The rest of the walk Jarrod was our snake spotter. He could spot a snake 50 yards out in the water. The old folks would look and strain our eyes until we finally could see it. The snakes turned out to be Brown Banded Water Snakes and are non poisonous.
At the end of the trail was a beautiful waterfall called the Lace Falls. There is a nice bench to sit and take in the view. We sat for a few minutes and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
We then walked the trail back to the bridge and had a snack at the Summers house café there. Just hot dogs but they were good. We then deicded we didnt really have enough time to go the wax museum or the caverns since there was only about 3 hours until dinner time. So we went back to the room and rested.
Part of the clothing story
after walking the trail, complete with mud puddles and dirt, we returned to the room with two kids whose clothes were a mess. Jarrod was fine. Ethan on the other hand wore his only shirt that would match the pants he had. I realized that the red pants and the two red shirts I brought were horribly ugly together!! It was then I realized that he wouldnt have any thing to wear on Saturday or Sunday at this rate. I was fine because while my pants were dirty I stilled had another pair that would, I was sure, survive the next day and be wearable for the trip home! Hahahaha

boy was I wrong!!
We ate dinner in the dinning room that night and then retired to the room for the evening. I realized why I dont hang out in the room at Disney. There is absolutely nothing to do when you are sitting in a hotel room. I become bored very easily.

Day Two
can we say mud??
